10x43/44 Drop The World—RECAP

Here we are at the Season FINALLY I mean Finale of season ten…..yea seems like forever since the season began and just think the school year is far from over as we’ve still got Spring Break, A SECOND school election, Prom, Graduation, and FIVE Newbies (well three newbies, one minor character promoted to main and one new minor that is promoted to main in the back end of the season) left to come.

Eli runs to the newsstand buying up all the copies of ‘Gothic Times’ before running to school. They published Eli’s story….no not Eli’s…..THEIRS….their first collaboration. They are a dynamic duet and Eli wants to hone his dark twisted mind and her flair for the romantic together lock themselves in a basement and not leave until the manuscript of their first novel is finished…..tempting….Clare tells him she’s got plans….to go shopping with Alli for Spring Fling. Eli comments saying she was just published and says doesn’t she think dances are trivial and droll….she says he doesn’t have to come.

10x41/42 Chasing Pavements—RECAP

Fiona’s 28 days sober and is airing her grievances at the rehab. She’s officially an outpatient and Holly J said she came straight from dialysis for the ceremony. Fiona says she heard she was sick and wants to know what she can do to help. Holly J says nothing but she won’t take it for an answer. Holly J has done so much to help her she wishes to return the favor. Fiona’s glad that she had some public speaking practice because she got out of rehab just in time for Bobby’s trial….about the trial Laura needs to talk.

10x39/40 Hide and Seek RECAP

Holly J’s passed out in the MI lab as Clare, Connor and a bunch of other grade tens look on. Is she okay….maybe….though on the surface she’s just tired. Chantey wakes her….she was doing something for work study and dosed off. She asks why the room is full of grade tens and is told it’s their class period and she and Chantey are going to be late for there’s.

10x37/38 Jesus Etc RECAP

Eli tells Clare that the submissions for some Gothic Fiction contest are due soon and he’s suffering from some blockage. Clare comments how he needs a distraction and he replies like giving driving lessons which is what he’s doing in the moment as Clare has taken up the driver’s seat of Mortey while Eli’s in the passenger’s one. She says you can teach me and I can pay you back without editing. He calls her his muse and then tells her to take care of his baby. He’s an antique hearse and he doesn’t want Clare or the car to get hurt…..Clare starts pulling down the road as Fitz shows up besides the car. He’s been looking for the couple and wants to talk.

10x35/36 The Way We Get By—RECAP

The episode opens with the basketball team playing and I instantly know what episode this is cause while I remember the basic archs of the season honestly with 40+ episodes it’s hard to recall what plot goes where…..spoilers…..it’s the Drew takes shrooms episode…..anyway the team is on to the semi’s meaning that a year has already flown by since the drama with KC and Coach Carson. Drew wants to celebrate however he realizes he’s the fifth wheel to Dave and Sadie and KC and Jenna. He decides to stay behind and work on his game and I just want to give him a hug.

10x33/34 When Love Takes Over—RECAP

In a pretty similar tone as the last episode with the ‘wishing stars’ this time it’s most likely February in Degrassi cannon as love is in the air and Sav dressed up adorably as cupid is encouraging students to send their loved ones roses. Anya asks Holly J for a dozen yellow ones….not for a guy but cause her mom is hearing her results back today. Holly J says she can have the BFF discount and that she’s there no matter what to talk about it.

Adam and Eli are talking about who to cast for the lead in a play…Anya is too cheerful. Adam says they’ve auditioned ten girls and so far the best they’ve got is Marisol and hopefully they’ll find a leading lady worthy of Adam. Speaking of leading ladies Fiona calls to him asking why he’s been avoiding her….um could it be that she stood him up at her own party….yea it could be. She really wanted to come but her great aunt died and there is no way she could let Adam know. Adam says she can make it up by being his co star. She asks if there is singing and while there isn’t there is a kiss. She says so long as she gets final wardrobe approval she’s in it.

10x31/32 Halo—RECAP

And we’re up to the end of the second ‘arch’ of the epic that is season ten…..

The episode opens as people are dancing on the steps of the school with ribbons as Holly J is doing a voiceover but is really talking on the PA. It appears the Power Squad did get reinstated and are selling magical wishing stars for Charity….. I am thinking it’s something akin to the shamrocks and the like that MDA and Make a Wish sell at various venues through the year. Also the power squad is pleased to be hosting a dance….however said dance is during the day and uniforms must still be worn but hey it’s something. Jenna comments about it and Sav says it’s the best they could do and Degrassi musicians get to play and he offers Jenna to duet with him.

10x29/30 Umbrella—RECAP

Clare is heading downstairs and walks into a conversation her parents have about selling the house. This is the first she’s hearing about it and she’s upset….it’s part of the family. Helen and Randall have one major issue to nail down however and that’s Clare. It’s decided that she’ll spend weekends and vacations with her dad in his condo…..now the fact that the dad already has his own condo is like a red flag that some shit was going down cause it’s doubtful it’s a recent purchase while Clare would live in the new house during the week with Helen….Randall has even hired a moving van to move some of Clare’s things to his place. Reaching into a ‘junk box’ Clare picks up her dad’s old watch that he taught her to tell time with. He tells her you can’t keep anything and sometimes change is good.

10x27/28 Love Lockdown—RECAP

  

This is another episode that is somewhat misleading as we are not having another lockdown at Degrassi…..though like insanity Degrassi somewhat manages to do the same things over and over again at times and hopes to attain a different result sometimes it does other times it doesn’t. I’m just a bit rambling cause as I type this re-cap a new promo has come out for the next block of the present season and it looks like a giant clusterfuck and by the time this recap posts the first episode of said block will of already aired and so you may judge for yourself….

The episode opens as Declan arrives at Degrassi with Fiona. He’s in town for the theater awards and to hopefully sweep Holly J back off her feet because he’s not spoken to her in over a month. Offering to take Fiona to class he’s told students only passed the doors. As they reach the steps and he’s about to drop his sister off, Declan see’s Holly J updating the marquee. She’s rather nice telling him how she’s surprised he left New York to come to the little awards and he says how the play meant allot and they agree to meet up for lunch. Fiona tells him she wants Holly J to be a part of the family as much as he does but to not get his hopes up.

10x25/26 Don’t Let Me Get Me—RECAP

Like it was said at the end of the summer finale when the students come back after Christmas Break they won’t recognize the place which is true thanks in part to police patrols, metal detectors, oh and the instatement of school uniforms. Clare comments she looks like Barney The Dinosaur in her purple polo while Alli comments how she thought she’d be glad to be back in a uniform…a teasing remark once you remember season eight Clare wore her catholic school outfit for most of that season. Now I know allot of fans hated the uniforms which consisted of Kaki bottoms paired with polo’s color coordinated depending on grades so Yellow for freshman, Purple for Sophomores, Red for Juniors and Blue for Seniors.

Alli and Clare are playing who is to blame for this Clare and the whole Eli vs. Fitz war or Alli for her Boiler Room antics. They comment on the police and metal detectors and wonder if they’ll even be able to think freely at this new Degrassi.

Drew shows up and Clare comments how Alli didn’t expect he’d vanish. Alli comments she both missed him and wants to maim him and Drew pulls her aside asking if she thought of them getting back together. She did and doing it would be the worst mistake of her life. Drew claims Bianca was the one whoring herself out and seducing him and he loves her but it’s too little too late no second chances…one strike he’s out cause he let Bianca treat his body like his own personal amusement park.

WHATEVER IT TAKES (and there are some slight changes in the credits. The scene with Holly J and Leia has been removed and in its place is a scene adding Zane and Owen to the credits and the opening scene with Peter and Sav with the video camera has been changed and now it’s Sav and Holly J. All other scenes remain intact until next season when there is a totally new sequence)

10x23/24 All Falls Down—RECAP

Here we are at the climax of the first of three ‘Summer Novella’s’ In case I didn’t mention what those were of if you simply forgot, from seasons 10-12 for 6,7, and 5 weeks respectively Degrassi aired new episodes nightly four days a week and story arcs became more serialized then episodic and even in the fall and spring arcs and into the present season where the summer format was changed back to a weekly one it has a more serialized ‘soapy’ feel at times then the seasons of yore…..anyway this episode marks a changing point at Degrassi and when it comes back in episode 25 you may not recognize the place which (Simpson even says that later on) But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Alli is tutoring Drew who just knows he’s going to fail. They stop for a study break/make out session when Audra breaks them up. She comments how this is why he’s failing math and that if he focused on school and not girls maybe he’s be passing. She tells him how lucky he is because of the stink bomb and how he had an extra day for midterms. After Audra walks away Alli comments how Audra must think she’s some skank like Bianca. Drew says she just doesn’t like him sucking in school.

10x21/22 Purple Pills RECAP

Holly J is carrying her and Fiona’s midterm snack haul down the street and toward the condo as they plan on studying and in between having Fiona come up with an EPIC winter dance theme. As they arrive at the condo however they are greeted by Laura and the family lawyer. Laura informs Fiona that the case against Bobby is moving to trial and she needs to give a deposition and the only way to avoid it is to drop charges.

10x19/20 Still Fighting it RECAP

Riley passes Zane in the hallway and there is a smile between them as Riley soon meets with Anya. She asks if Riley plans to sign up for the schools bachelor auction since the girls would fight tooth and nail for him because he’s quite a catch. The guys would too if he wasn’t stuck inside the biggest walk in closet like ever…..She then asks how Zane is cause let’s face it she so saw their little energy exchange however Riley tells her all they talked about was math. She tells him he should go talk again and Riley promises he’ll do it tomorrow. She tells him the present is a gift and he should go give said gift to Zane in the form of flirting.

10x17/18 Tears Dry In My Own—RECAP

Jenna and Alli are in the girl’s room and Jenna is once again complaining about her body. Some of the buttons of her shirt apparently came undone in her stomach region and Alli comments first how the shirt used to fit and then starts reading from presumably a health book the signs of pregnancy complete with Alli going to second base on Jenna squeezing her breasts for tenderness. She asks if Jenna’s been sexually active and safe and how she should take a test but Jenna can’t be pregnant because she has an audition for a music completion to go to however Alli can’t come watch cause she has detention cause she was caught stealing ‘what to expect’ books for Jenna out of the library so I guess Jenna had the same inklings Alli was having eh….

10x15/16 My Body Is a Cage|| RECAP

This is one of those episodes that I’ve partly been looking forward to re-watching and at the same time due to recent events in present cannon have equally been dreading. This is a huge Adam centric episode and the big revel of his character identifier.

It’s hours before school and Adam is complaining about the loud music blasting from Audra’s van. Drew says it’s to amp him for practice and Adam asks why he has to go to school early again. Audra comments how he can watch Drew but Adam just wants to be able to play sports or at least be in REAL PE and not recreations class. Audra comments how it’s a new year at a new school and Adam should just lie low. Adam comments about its High School and lying low is impossible and besides they are doing ballroom dancing which is just as bad as something that would be done in real PE. Audra is adamant about Adam going to recreation instead and tells him how his grandma is coming to town and it would be nice if ‘Gracie’ came to dinner. Drew goes to practice as Adam tells Audra that ‘Gracie’s’ gone and he’s not playing dress up.

Drew propositions Alli in the hall asking for her to walk him to class. She comments that if he keeps this up people are going to think they are a couple. Drew says they aren’t a couple cause labels are pointless and they are different and you can’t break up something that isn’t there. Alli asks if they are friends with benefits and Drew says well if you have to label us then…..we’re going to be late for class.

Holly J is lying in bed having flashbacks of her time in New York with Declan before having an early morning Skype session with him. He tells her that it’s ‘go see’ week for his school and he plans on having a trip to Yale with his friends and wants Holly J to come. Holly J explains how she can’t just up and leave. Declan comments how he’ll try to just not have too much fun with all the single girls on the trip.

The episode opens up on action shots of the football team playing and from the crowd pans to Sav, Alli, and Clare on the side lines it’s presumably the same opening game from 99 problems. Jenna asks KC if she’s still mad at him (for taking his phone) and his mom calls out. It’s been three years and she wants to talk. Armstrong calls the team to go back on the bus and KC dismisses himself but his mom says the coach okayed it.

10x05/06 99 Problems||RECAP

Riley and Zane are exercising, doing some stretching and generally getting frisky however not so much. Schools back now and whatever romance blossomed over the summer between the two boys has to have an ellipsis put around it. Riley’s a senior and QB1 and a shoe in for captain and if the guys think he’s gay….well that just isn’t going to happen now is it….no offence to present company. He promises when football season is over things will pick up (albeit still in secret I’d gather) but for now….it’s complicated. Zane comments that they can still hang out and perhaps even his soccer skills will transfer to the gridiron. Riley comments how Zane would look hot in a jersey. Snapping out of his haze however Riley says he needs to get back to training and had a blast over the summer.
