4x21/22 Going Down The Road--recap

This is an interesting episode because it just feels a bit disjoined from most of the narrative of the season as a whole.

The episode opens with Alanis, Jason, and Kevin in a scene from the movie. They call cut and Kevin starts to talk to Craig and Ashley. He asks why Craig isn’t working on his song and he says how he wants to spend time with Ashley before she heads off to England for the summer.

4x20 West End Girls--recap

I am not going to go into the fact that I am a strong believer that if a show is lucky enough to make it to four seasons that it’s 20th episode should at least have some pot reference going for it. While there is no weed in sight however this episode as well as the finale (and a season five outing and season eight movie) feature Degrassi super fan Kevin Smith as well as his stoner alter ego Silent Bob (along with Jason Mewes as ‘Jay’ from that franchise….)

The episode opens as the spirit squat is rehearsing for the year end assembly. They are doing Manny’s choreography and Paige steps up saying how she’s proud of things. She and Manny start to get into things verbally.

4x19 Moonlight Desires--recap

Not so much my favorite episode wise but it does have one of my favorite kisses.

Marco’s setting up for a school blood drive and asks for Alex to wear the mascot costume for it. Ellie comments how great a job Marco has been doing this year and asks if he plans to run for a second term. Marco tells her that he thought of it but he thinks he’s going to fast track and take summer classes so that he can graduate after the first semester and move in with Dylan at the university.

4x18 Modern Love--recap

This is the episode that introduces us to a character that has basically become a running joke in the Degrassi fandom and that is Chantay Black.  If you do the math she’d be in Grade Eight this season however if she was that young it makes me wonder why she’d be hanging out with Emma and Manny (though her future love interest Danny hangs out with JT who is in the same grade so…..I guess in hindsight it makes sense.) Anyway that’s not till the random B plot but the episode starts with the A plot which actually is continual of one of the arches of the season.

The episode opens as Paige and Mr. O are at the park having a picnic. He’s talking about how nervous he is because his instructor is coming to review him for his program and the kids are scary. Paige laughs saying that Marco is afraid of bees and is hardly scary…..though Heather Sinclair (#16) is. As they are at the park they notice Simpson and baby Jack in the distance and bale before getting caught.

4x17 Queen of Harts-recap

Ellie wakes up to her alarm and is frantically getting ready for school. There is a knock on the door and it’s the land lord informing her that it’s the end of the month and the rent is due. She promises to have it on time and soon the lights flicker. He asks if she also failed to pay the electric bill and she comments sometimes the ferret plays with the chords. The land lord comments about her having a pet as she goes to see the pet dead.

4x16 Eye of the Tiger-recap

This episode opens up as Jimmy arrives back at Degrassi for the first time after the shooting. As he is being lowered off the handy-bus it looks as if the entire school is outside watching him. As this happens Jimmy’s eyes meet with Spinner.

4x14/15 Secret--recap

This episode is another one that is on my favorites list. Just letting you guys know that.

The episode opens with it being rehearsals for Dracula. Jay is working on sets and comments that Emma is a bit tense and will snap in half if she doesn’t relax. There is a cue and she misses it.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

4x13 Bark at the Moon--recap

The episode opens when Spinner is working at the Dot while Manny is watching him. He tells her he needs to step it up for a new manager. Manny comments about the song and it’s her favorite and he comments on it. Manny says that’s why they are friends and Spinner shakes his head wanting them to be officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

4x11/12 Voices Cary--recap

Craig and Ashley are kissing after school and Craig asks if he’s going to see her tomorrow. Ashley comments about how her dad’s wedding seems to be taking over her life. Now before I go on I once again need to just point out that this episode originally aired in Canada in Late 2004 and in the US in Early 2005. I do this because marriage equality is a major hot topic at least stateside at present and to have two gay males having a wedding (or rather a commitment ceremony but still) almost ten years ago on a show geared towards kids and teens is utterly progressive so snaps for Canada. Anyway Ashley is listing off her duties which include going to the airport….Craig comments he likes airports….people saying hellos goodbyes I love yous. Ashley smiles asking if he was saying it to her and he teases he only says it at airports. Their moment however is cut short as Kate arrives to pick Ashley up.

4x10 Neutron Dance--recap

Downtown Sasquatch is having practice sans Jimmy and are sounding better though not the best. They have only three days to use the recording time and they wish Jimmy was there. Ashley is being all Yoko telling them they should sing Dust Aka the song Craig wrote as an apology to her at the battle of the bands.

4x09 Back In Black--Recap

This episode is a perfect continuation to the events of the last and opens up the following Monday. The media is still having a field day with the shooting and I’m honestly shocked there wasn’t a circus like this from the fallout of other major dramatic events that have occurred in the series.  Sean and Ellie are looking at all the papers talking about the shooting and branding Sean a hero for preventing Rick for continuing his rampage.

4x07/08 Time Stands Still -- recap

This is it……this is one of the biggest most epic episodes that would be on my must watch list for those who are just getting into the series but don’t want to sit and re watch them all like I am doing right now.

The episode opens as Rick is coming home from school and Spinner whose curls are gone and replaced with his ‘skater’ doo and Jimmy approach. They comment on Rick’s hat and then toss it in the dumpster before tossing Rick in after it.

4x06 Islands In The Stream--recap

The episode opens and it looks as if Paige has finally landed herself a job. She’s waitressing at the Dot….horribly only making 67 cents in tips and ending up getting herself fired.

4x05 Anywhere I Lay My Head Recap

Ellie has spent the night over Sean’s after falling asleep watching a bad movie. Ellie’s curfew is 11….PM not AM and she knows her mom is going to be upset. She asks if the ringer is off because she didn’t hear any calls and Sean comments that maybe her mom passed out drinking. Ellie doesn’t want to go there with him and as she leaves Sean asks her to move in.

4x04 Mercy Street-recap

The episode begins as various students including Spinner, Paige, Alex and Emma are on the front steps of the school when they see Rick and his mom pulling up. After what happened last year Rick is re-enrolling at Degrassi and he’s back in Grade ten (Emma’s grade) and it’s stated something has to be done.

4x03 King of Pain--Recap

The second school election episode and one a bit more interesting than the last. The episode opens as Marco is at the mall or just a local convince store and is taking pictures in a photo booth when Dylan peeps his head in the booth to kiss Marco. Marco reminds him that his mom works in the store and he’s still in the closet to her and his dad. His mom soon approaches and Marco hides the kiss picture showing his mom the proofs as since his father is making election posters for him his mom says she gets final say in pictures. When she leaves Marco offers the couple photo to Dylan who in not so many words tells Marco he really wishes he’d come out to his parents.

4x01/02 The Ghost In The Machine --recap

With a new season comes new character looks such as Spinner’s longer hair and Craig ditching the curls.

The season opens as Spinner, Paige, and Craig are at Joey’s car lot as Spinner is christening the new car he just purchased. Spinner and Paige then go for a ride and are talking about taking the car to the drive in for a date. Things are going all too perfect as they pull into Paige’s driveway and the cops pull up behind them. Worried that Spinner received a speeding ticket it turns out that the cops are there to serve Paige as it’s finally time for Dean’s trial after all these years.
