5x18/19 High Fidelity

Wow time flies and we’re now at the end of another season….five down and seven more to go….well eight if you count season thirteen already in progress. Also fun fact…. Part two of this episode makes the hundredth episode can you believe we’ve gotten this far already….for the record as of this posting 322 episodes have aired (320 since I’ve actually typed this up and placed this post into the queue)…..

Manny and Emma ask why Darcy didn’t come into the Dot for coffee however Spinner shoos them away so he can have time with Darcy. Darcy tells Spinner she got a councilor job at bible camp and is going to miss Spinner all summer. He’s going to miss her too and they start to make out however before they get too far Darcy stops him telling him they made an abstinence vow to stay virgins till marriage…..virgin…yea Spinner is one of those.

5x17 Total Eclipse of the Heart

The episode opens as Paige, Marco, Ellie, and Alex are studying for finals. Dylan is brought up and Marco tells them he’s so over him and so they bring up Tim who has been following Marco like a lost puppy. Speak of the devil Tim shows up and wants to study and guess what other devil shows up….Dylan who is back in town and there to pick Paige up. Marco introduces his ex to new boyfriend Tim….AWKWARD

5x15/16 Our Lips Are Sealed

This is another episode I feel I need to place a disclaimer on cause I know people who get triggered when talking about eating disorders and this episode is pretty much all about it sans the Paige/Hazel/Alex B plot in part two…..

Emma is pretty much taking charge of the house as Manny comments how she’s getting so fat she can’t fit into her lucky jeans and she needs to cause the agent from hell who told her to lose her curves wants to audition her again after seeing the Kevin Smith movie. Emma comments that she too is feeling fat and blames it on all the fast food and take out they’ve been eating since Simpson left. They are going to lose weight and Emma is going to get control.

5x14 I Against I

There is a fair at the school for the various student activities to earn money for various endeavors. The Friendship Club has a dunk tank to earn money to feed starving children and Jimmy keeps knocking Spinner into the dunk tank to the point that Marco has to step in to stop telling Jimmy who is all ready to buy another ten dollars’ worth of balls that Spinner is shivering and wet and has had enough. Jimmy reluctantly stops.

5x13 Together Forever--recap

 Craig and Ellie are lounging around in the garage and Craig is telling Ellie about what his dream car would be. Ellie teases him about it and he asks what her dream ride is when they win at the Northern Sound Showcase. They start getting all flirty with one another and seriously between you and me I personally see so much more chemistry between Jake/Stacy (Craig/Ellie) then I did between him and Cassie (Manny) and Melissa (Ashley) but that’s just one’s opinion. Joey arrives to tell Craig that Manny’s on the phone. Craig tells Joey to tell her he’s studying and Joey shakes his head. When he leaves Ellie tells Craig they really should be working on a History Project though Craig clearly doesn’t have school on the brain just being a rock star.

5x11/12 Lexicon of Love--recap

It’s time for the Jay and Silent Bob go Degrassi Eh premiere and Jay approaches Alex with a ticket to the big party. Alex tells him thanks but no thanks and she’s going with Paige. She doesn’t need jerks like him in her life.

5x10 Redemption Song-recap

Before I get into this episode I want to make a timeline rant. This is Toronto they have weather and if this episode is supposed to be a year after the shooting which presumably was in the late fall/early winter then why the heck are Darcy and the Friendship Club dressing all summery for their retreat…..

Like I said the episode opens as Darcy is bikini shopping for the retreat. Spinner makes his way into the fitting room and teases Darcy about giving Jesus a heart attack dressed like that. Jay shows up at the mall and runs into Spinner after this (I assume this is a different mall or Jay’s banishment from season three is null and void) and has some bro time with Spinner till Darcy shows up. Those two banter for a moment before Jay invites Spinner to a party at the ravine. Spinner is totally….possibly….not that into it.

5x09 Tell It To My Heart--recap

Marco is at work rehearsing for the school drama festival as his dad looks on. His dad doesn’t want Marco to seriously take up acting as he wants him to go into the printing business with him. Marco tells his dad he wants to go into social work (though later we do find out that social work has morphed into teaching but that’s neither here nor there at present). His dad brings up that his cousin is a social worker and his cousin is gay and says that when a parent has a gay kid it makes them feel like failures.

5x07/8 Turned Out:-recap

This episode at least the A plot at parts gets a bit dark and gritty and real so be forewarned.

The episode opens as JT and Liberty are talking to the guidance counselor. Liberty is six months pregnant and still only Toby and Danny know about the pregnancy. Liberty is scared to tell her dad and admits that she wants to carry the baby to term even if abortion were still a viable option. JT wants to be referred to an adoption agent but right now Liberty wants to keep the baby.

The episode opens as Jimmy and Derek are playing one on one outside as his dad and the coach of a wheelchair ball team are watching on. He’s still a bit awkward in his chair however he’s still offered a tryout.

5x05 Weddings Parties Anything--recap

The episode starts with Downtown Sasquatch practicing and they honestly sound a million times better (are they being dubbed?) they still think they suck though as they criticize one another until Jimmy’s dad comes to pick him up. Marco leaves with him and Craig and Ellie are alone. Ellie likes playing with Craig…..the band. And Craig gives her drumming tips in an awe moment if you ship Crellie (Craig +Ellie)

5x04 Foolin’-recap

I’d started to watch/recap this before but only got to the cold open and never saved my draft….anyway so it opens with JT giving Liberty his keys for a driving lesson even though she hasn’t gotten her learners. She drives pretty good and JT comments that he wants to celebrate….with condoms. Liberty isn’t in the mood needing to get into school to judge the people auditioning for video announcements. JT wonders why since school started Liberty’s been distant.

5x03 Death of a Disco Dancer---recap

The episode opens with Paige and Alex at the theater as Paige is looking at college guides and how there is going to be a college fair at school the following week. She then asks if Alex can cover a shift because Matt is back from the Yukon and they are so going to get their date on and resume their relationship.

5x01/2 Venus--recap

A new season means a New Year, new looks, new characters and lots and lots of new drama including a highly memorable Degrassi moment at least to me.

It’s the end of summer and Emma and Manny are lying out at the local pool. Emma’s got her eye on Peter whose surround by a bevy of beautiful girls and as Manny whose been bitten by the acting bug is telling her friend she hopes that she gets a call back from the agent she sent her profile to Emma hopes Peter notices her. She worries that she’s got stomach rolls and flabby thighs which is massive foreshaddowment for later in the season and soon she explains to Manny how Peter is the first guy she’s liked since Sean. (I guess Chris is being ret-conned or the rebound guy means nothing to her) Emma can have the guys….Manny has one goal….fame.

WHATEVER IT TAKES (I believe it was the same theme music honestly wasn’t really paying attention. The Ashley/Craig and Jimmy/Spinner title cards have changed into a Craig/Jimmy one panning to Spinner who is awkwardly watching his ex-friends (Ashley is gone from the opening and from cannon until the finale) The Sean/Raditch scene has now become Peter/Miss H and there has been an added Jay/Alex scene promoting them to the main cast.

SEASON 5 CHARACTERS:

This season there was no cast photo so here are the characters:
