4x05 Anywhere I Lay My Head Recap

 Ellie has spent the night over Sean’s after falling asleep watching a bad movie. Ellie’s curfew is 11….PM not AM and she knows her mom is going to be upset. She asks if the ringer is off because she didn’t hear any calls and Sean comments that maybe her mom passed out drinking. Ellie doesn’t want to go there with him and as she leaves Sean asks her to move in.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

It’s open house time again and Ashley is talking how weird it’s going to be with her dad coming with his partner and Ellie tells her that Sean asked her to move in.

Manny hot off her break up from JT approaches Spinner to solicit his help with the Spirit Squad car wash. Paige is out sick and she’s in charge and asks him to ask Craig to get Downtown Sasquatch to perform because asking Craig herself would be awkward.

Ellie doesn’t want to move in as she’s worried that the military will call saying something’s happened with her dad and she’d miss it plus her mom needs her. As open house rolls around Ellie is flicking her rubber bands nervously and with good reason as Mrs. Nash is a drunken mess.

At Downtown Sasquatch practice we see Ashley is now in the band (this can’t end well) and Spinner brings up the gig. Craig doesn’t know partly cause of his history with Manny and partially well….they suck. Majority rules however so the gig is a go.

Ellie is woken up by the smoke detector….her mom is passed out and there is a pot on the stove bubbling over. At the hospital Mrs. Nash isn’t proud of what happened and says they will be staying with a friend just out of the city. Ellie suggests staying local with Ashley’s family and her mom agrees however she intends to crash with Sean instead. Moving in with Sean, Ellie suggests they need a pet to be a real family. Sean soon sees her bag of cutting devices and she tells him she hasn’t relapsed but doesn’t want them around so her mom can find them.

At the car wash we meet new girl Darcy and with that get the beginning of one of my favorite Degrassi families of all time the Edwards’s which is still going strong to this very season.

Marco grills Ellie about her new living situation with Sean and suggests they have a party before she has to sadly move back with her mom.

The band plays and they are horrific like Craig predicted they’d be.

Rick shows up to get his moms car washed and gets turned away.

Manny complements spinner on his drumming and thanks him again for playing. There is a water fight that goes on and the two get a little handsy as Craig snaps a photo.

At Sean’s there is a party where Ellie admits to him she doesn’t want to leave. Her mom shows up however telling her she called Ashley’s and knows she hasn’t been there and drags her back to the house but not before slapping Sean saying he needs to stay away from Ellie. At the house she tells Ellie the fire was a blessing in disguise and they have a clean slate as Ellie snaps her bands. As she’s told to cut it out Ellie shows her mom her scars and the tools saying she does it because her mom is an alcoholic and if she stays in the house she’s going to relapse. Her mom seems genuinely guilt ridden about this revelation.

Spinner and Manny share an awkward moment before Paige shows up telling them thanks for making the car wash a success.

Ellie’s mom drops her off at Sean’s on her way to rehab and Ellie introduces Sean to their new pet ferret.
