4x07/08 Time Stands Still -- recap

This is it……this is one of the biggest most epic episodes that would be on my must watch list for those who are just getting into the series but don’t want to sit and re watch them all like I am doing right now.

The episode opens as Rick is coming home from school and Spinner whose curls are gone and replaced with his ‘skater’ doo and Jimmy approach. They comment on Rick’s hat and then toss it in the dumpster before tossing Rick in after it.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

The next day Rick sees Spinner’s car in the parking lot and tags it with spray paint before coming into the school. In the hall he has a run in with Jimmy and they are having an argument when Simpson arrives. He starts asking Jimmy random trivia questions and then flashes a smile. Heather Sinclair (#12) has mono and so Jimmy is now on the team.

Joey is talking to a relater about selling his house since they are having financial troubles. Craig is sick and plans to stay home.

Rick tells Emma and Toby he wants to quit the team as he doesn’t want to be with Jimmy who is one of his tormentors. They coax him to stay despite his issues and he agrees however he still heads to Raditch’s office to report the bullying. Raditch says that it’s not all Jimmy and it’s a two way street.

Spinner sees his and Jay’s cars tagged and they want revenge and they want it now and soon they start roughing up Toby by association with Rick. Toby arrives at the final practice before the big televised quiz show and Rick looks to Jimmy saying his friends are cowards going after Toby instead of him personally.

Joey arrives home from the car lot to see his ex-Sydney at the house. Craig called her as she works in real-estate and Craig thought she’d be able to help.

There is more practice for the team and it seems like for the most part Jimmy and Rick are getting along. Afterwards Jimmy tells Alex, Jay, and Spinner to get over trying to get back at Rick.

The following day Rick is getting ready when Toby comes over. His mom says she’s glad Rick is making friends and that she didn’t transfer schools like Rick wanted to do.

Craig is still slightly sick however after Joey yells at him about being blindsided and says he’s staying home to clean the house Craig decides he might as well just go to school.

Rick thanks Emma for convincing him to bury the hatchet with Jimmy and soon the quiz show starts making me think that the show totally should of shown and not implied the quiz bowl meets that the ‘Bright Sparks’ had back in showdown. Rick ties things up and is going to headline the lightning round. Jimmy is complementing him during the break and Jay and Spinner hear them talking. In hearing Rick is in the lightning round they conspire to have Alex use her VP powers to rig something special up.

Sydney shows up to help Joey but let’s face it by now you guys are zoning out the B plot…admit it.

Before Rick takes the stage he whispers to Emma he’s doing it all for her before answering the questions and winning the game however his victory is short lived and soon yellow paint and feathers fall onto him and the crowd laughs. He leaves the room and Emma follows telling him those laughing and those who did this are immature .He goes to hug her and she brushes him off saying that she was only nice to him because she was sorry for him and doesn’t want him to be her boyfriend.

Joey’s getting ready for the big open house when there is a knock at the door. Caitlin had a filming hiatus and is back in Toronto to visit and asks why Sydney’s name is on the lawn.

Rick goes to his empty home and goes into his dad’s office to pull out a gun…..To be continued……

Part two picks up the same scene as part one ended before flipping back to the school where Emma, Toby, JT, and Danny are talking about the incident when Rick shows up. Toby says Raditch is looking for who did it and that people would have understood if he went home and stayed there for the rest of the day. Rick comments that the most the person would get is a slap on the wrist and a few detentions as it’s not like things have happened before.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH

Raditch makes a video announcement about the paint situation and puts the student body on blast.

JT makes a comment to Toby asking where the looser is and says Rick should of transferred though then Toby would need another gamer geek to hang with….ouch…what happened to that friendship and bromance I would love to know….yea….

Spinner is teasing Jimmy for being nice to Rick now and Jimmy threatens to tell Raditch he knows Spinner was behind the paint incident. Spinner and Jimmy then get into a physical fight.

Joey informs Caitlin it’s either move to a smaller place or loose the shop which is why Sydney is helping him out.

Rick enters a room and is still all painted and feathered. He goes to approach Paige with the intent of making her his first victim. He’s reaching for the gun when she tells him she knows they are not friends but what happened was childish. This comment literally saves her life as Rick pulls back saying he’s sorry about Terri and walks away putting his gun in his bag and his bag in his locker.

Caitlin visits Sydney asking about Joey’s house and that she’s interested in buying it.

Rick is cleaning up in the bathroom and as Spinner and Jay realize he’s in there decide to make Jimmy a scapegoat saying he was the mastermind of the whole paint and feathers thing and how great for him to be on the inside. This prompts Rick to change his mind once more about the gun and approach Jimmy.  Jimmy apologizes for what happened and wants to do whatever he can to catch the culprits he has Rick’s back…..no according to Rick he stabbed him in the back humiliating him in front of the school. Jimmy sees the gun and begins to run away only to get shot in his back. Craig finds Jimmy’s bleeding body on the ground….Rick has already moved on.

He’s moved on to Sean, Emma, and Toby who are standing in another wing. Rick says with shaky breath he’s sorry that he tried to kiss Emma and that she’s on his LIST. Sean tries to talk him down however he soon aims his gun toward Emma. Sean tries to tackle the gun from Rick’s hand and a shot rings out.

The school is on lockdown and the cops are outside. Kate is there to see Toby who was a witness and watches Jimmy being wheeled into the ambulance.

Joey is telling Caitlin about how his house sold and that he knows she was the buyer it’s now that Caitlin gets a call about the shooting.

Back inside the school a detective is talking to Toby about the shooting. ‘He was a psycho not my friend’ Toby replies.

Raditch asks Simpson to hack into Rick’s email to see if there were any signs and Simpson is pissed about him only being concerned now after things already got this far.

Caitlin arrives at the school asking the cops what’s up.

The grade eleven girls are in class speculating as to why they are on lockdown when Paige looks at her phone. Her mom just texted that there was a shooting and soon Hazel looks over to Jimmy’s empty desk and she knows something is wrong. Her fears are confirmed when the guidance counselor comes into the room to pull her away telling her about jimmy.

Spinner’s heard the news and is freaking out wanting to come clean. Jay informs him that weather he lives or not Jimmy WAS his friend and to not tell.

Craig is leaving the school and getting hounded by a reporter who Caitlin knows. Caitlin chews her out and tells her to leave Craig alone. As the press move onto Toby he and the audience find out that Rick is dead.

The end of the episode flashes to Paige and Hazel at the hospital where Jimmy remains in critical condition, Spinner wallowing in guilt, various characters watching news reports on the shooting and a candle light vigil at the school.
