4x14/15 Secret--recap

This episode is another one that is on my favorites list. Just letting you guys know that.

The episode opens with it being rehearsals for Dracula. Jay is working on sets and comments that Emma is a bit tense and will snap in half if she doesn’t relax. There is a cue and she misses it.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Mr. P comments to Emma about her lack of classroom participation and that her post shooting grace period is about to end. She nods and walks down the hallway looking a little too long at Jay and Alex who tell her to take a picture as it will last longer.

Ashley is acting distracted as well however the root of hers has to do with Craig.  She tells Ellie she knows it’s not her place to worry about him however she can’t help it.  Craig arrives and Ellie walks away and Ashley suggests he go to a mental health support group despite the fact that he wants to focus on anything but his illness right now.

At another rehearsal session Darcy is struggling with her lines and Emma is prompting her from the sidelines even though it’s not her place to be doing this. JT comments that he’s the director and playing a major role and he still knows all his lines. Darcy complains how she’d know the lines if JT didn’t constantly change the blocking and JT rebuttals by saying perhaps he should change the casting too. After the rehearsal Amy and Alex are backstage talking about how the play seems cursed and Manny suggests to Emma she should take over Darcy’s role because she knows the lines. Amy then starts to freak out because her bracelets are missing. As Emma finds them, Manny invites her to Liberty’s as they are clearly over the while Chris thing however she declines.

Craig goes to the support group to appease Ashley and soon finds out that Ellie is also a member of the group and he’s been blindsided.

Jay pulls up to Emma asking if she’d ever been in a car with sixteen speakers before and offers to drive her home. She comments that he’s driven her before and they briefly bring Sean up before he invites her to ‘hang out’ later on. As she comes home Emma overhears her parents talking about how off she’s been since the shooting. She comes in the room telling her parents she’s skipping dinner because she had pizza at school which may or may not be a lie and then sneaks out the window to head to the ravine. Emma and Jay hang out there when her eyes fall to a van parked that people are coming in and out of. She asks what’s in it and Jay brings her inside. Jay kisses her and tells her that the van is for hook ups and asks if she knows what a Blow Job is. While she doesn’t do anything beyond kissing she receives a bracelet because every player gets a prize.

The following day at rehearsal Liberty is mad that JT left them in a lurch firing Darcy just days before opening night. Emma says she can take the part however Liberty is unsure of her reliability because she’s missed cues and blew off coming to Manny’s the night before however she knows the lines so she gets the part.

Ashley tells Craig her dad and his partner came back from their honeymoon and were asking about him. He calls her out for sending him to Ellie’s group when he didn’t want his diagnosis to be public.

Liberty’s suspicions are realized when Emma ends up flaking on her kissing scene with Nate a one off character just brought on for this arch and never seen again. Backstage Amy and Alex laugh about that and talk about how Emma has a penis-phobia her family can’t even buy hotdogs. Amy sees the bracelet on Emma’s arm and soon stops her teasing. Emma’s elated….it’s like Amy kryptonite. Jay tells her that it’s not a game.

Ellie shows up at Craig’s with a veiled excuse about needing a guitar tuned. She tells him that she’ll always be a cutter but she’s not going to let that fact define her and that sometimes it’s best to talk about things. He informs Ellie it’s not that he doesn’t want to talk it’s just it’s all Ashley wants to talk about lately and it’s annoying.

Jay and Emma are at the ravine and this time more goes on then just a kiss.

Craig and Ashley talk more about the group. Craig actually liked it and plans to go back but he just wants to be Ashley’s boyfriend and not some crazy guy.

Emma sneaks home at 2am and breaks down saying she hasn’t slept normally since the shooting because she has nightmares……To Be Continued.

The following episode picks up the following day and has a different B plot then the last. Emma is at school and looks at Jay, Alex, and Amy. As she watches them she sees Nate walking by asking if JT told her where to put the costumes before dress rehearsal later that day and she grabs him for a kiss to make Jay jealous.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH

Emma asks Jay if she made him jealous with her kiss….she wants to party and get more bracelets. Simpson arrives not hearing this but asks Jay to leave. He questions Emma asking if something more is bugging her after being up hysterical at 3am (continuity flub since in part one they said it was 2) and kissing randoms.

In the new B plot I mentioned, Marco and Craig are helping Jimmy pack up his hospital room to move back home however Mr. Brooks tells him they are still renovating things to make the condo accessible and will have to remain in the hospital for another week.

Backstage at the dress rehearsal Manny is asking Emma questions about the kiss with Nate and wants her do dish. A cue comes up and only Darcy who has now taken Emma’s old role and Amy are on stage because Alex is at an appointment and is going to be late. Alex arrives soon after fighting with Jay and then sucker punching Amy for giving Jay blow jobs for bracelets.

Jimmy is talking to his nurse who gives him a pep talk.

Back at Degrassi Manny calls Emma out about Jay. Emma tells her that it’s not real sex and that at least she’s not getting knocked up.

Marco brings Pizza to the hospital and Jimmy tells him he’s tired of only seeing the two of them and these same boring ass walls and has a plan. He tells his friends that tomorrow they are going to skip school and bust him out for the day so they can go see a concert.

Emma shows up at the ravine looking for Jay. A random asks if she wants to hook up but she denies him finally finding Jay in the civic. Jay isn’t in the mood.

Marco and Jimmy are in black hoodies because Marco wanted to look like ninjas. Craig goes to the reception desk to form a distraction and soon they bust out.

Emma has a sore throat and wants to talk to Jay about the night before but Jay has nothing left to say. The school has a meeting with a health nurse who explains that there is a gonorrhea outbreak at the school.

The boys made it out of the hospital and arrive at the club.

It’s opening night and Liberty takes Alex’s place in the play. As they are waiting to go on Manny calls Emma out saying she knows that she’s sick and that if she has a conscience won’t kiss Nate.

There are no wheelchair areas at the club and so Marco and Craig leave Jimmy to fend for himself to look for a manager to bring this up. Jimmy meanwhile pushes himself to the stage.

Nate pulls back from the kiss in the play whispering for Emma to just roll with it as the show goes on. Emma calls him out for being unprofessional after the show and he says rather unprofessional then getting himself sick. Emma lashes out that Jay gave her a social disease and he tells her he liked her for her virtue or whatever.

The boys bring Jimmy back to the hospital and his dad is there. Mr. Brooks says that he has a compromise and that he plans to hire a live in nurse to help while the renovations are finishing.

Emma breaks down to her parents saying she tried to be brave but she did things and needs to go to the hospital. Simpson notes something’s going around Degrassi but it’s a certain group and Emma doesn’t need to worry…Emma admits she does.
