4x06 Islands In The Stream--recap

 The episode opens and it looks as if Paige has finally landed herself a job. She’s waitressing at the Dot….horribly only making 67 cents in tips and ending up getting herself fired.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Spinner is sunburned from the car wash and Manny comments on it. She explains she uses a certain kind of lotion with moisturizer and Spinner starts to smell her. Craig walks by and asks Spinner if he and Paige are done. He tells Craig that he and Paige are still tight but there is something special about Manny…..sigh here we go again.

Its tryout time for the Degrassi trivia team and Simpson comments for the students to pair off. Toby asks Emma to be his partner however Emma is already working with Heather (#11). Rick pairs up with Toby and informs him that Emma is number three on his list of crushes at the school.

There is a scene with the upperclassmen in the lunchroom though since I didn’t make note of the conversation going on I assume it had to do with Rick or Paige’s lack of a job. She does go to apply at the movie theater and there was a bit of dialogue which is utterly truthful and hit close to home. You can’t get a job without experience however you also can’t get experience without getting a job. The manager asks if she’s fine with teamwork and she’s all about teams. This is until she sees that if hired she’d have to work with Alex.

Toby shares with Rick his own crush list and they soon make a bet to see who can get Emma to kiss them at the end of the day. Winner gets gaming dice that Rick has been lusting over.

Paige tells Spinner she doesn’t want to take the job cause of Alex however Spinner wants her to suck it up as she still owes him for the car damages. Paige tells Alex she is interested however Alex tells her that she already but in a bad review on her.

Toby talks Emma into giving him a kiss in science class however shortly after Emma gives Rick a kiss feeling sorry for her. They decide that it’s going to be double or nothing.

Hazel tells Paige she’s better then Spinner as she shows Paige the photo of Spinner and Manny at the carwash. Paige then approaches Spinner asking him to say it was nothing but he can’t do that. Later Paige and Hazel start commenting about Ellie and Sean and how they can’t believe Ellie of all people is in a relationship that is so serious that they are living together.

Jay pushes Rick in the hallway and walks off and soon Toby arrives to tell Rick about the new game plan. Whoever kisses the most girls by days end gets the dice.

At Spirit Squad practice Spinner shows up to apologize to Paige and compares his feelings to Manny to those Paige had of their hot drivers ed teacher last year…..a fleeting thought that meant nothing. Paige ends up then getting the call she got the theater job.

There is a montage of the boys playing the kissing game…..Toby is getting kissed left and right while Rick is getting the brush off. Toby feels bad and pays Darcy to kiss Rick. Jay is watching this exchange and shakes his head.

Hazel once again tells Paige she can do better but Paige is late for work. She shows up and is working at the theater and Spinner, Jimmy, Marco, and Craig show up to support her however Spinner’s form of support is to be tough on her giving her demanding orders on just how he wants his popcorn done. As the boys see their show Paige and Alex are straitening the prep area and Alex calls out Spinner’s behavior saying that if Jay talked to her like that she’d kick him to the curb and that Paige is a coward for letting Spinner walk all over her.  After the movie however Spinner just continues to act duchy to Paige and soon he and Craig publicly fight about Manny. This disturbance leads for Paige to be fired.

Toby wins the kissing contest 11-1 however Rick is cool it was all about the quality of his kiss. Toby is then cornered in the bathroom by Jay who beats him for sticking a psycho on a niner.

Alex talked to the boss and Paige has been rehired for the job and she’s happy. Spinner soon apologizes about the previous night however Paige is over it and who would want to accept a guy back after publically fighting with a guy over another girl in front of you. She declares they are never getting back together…..like ever (well except for a few ONS’s down the line)
