5x05 Weddings Parties Anything--recap

The episode starts with Downtown Sasquatch practicing and they honestly sound a million times better (are they being dubbed?) they still think they suck though as they criticize one another until Jimmy’s dad comes to pick him up. Marco leaves with him and Craig and Ellie are alone. Ellie likes playing with Craig…..the band. And Craig gives her drumming tips in an awe moment if you ship Crellie (Craig +Ellie)

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Joey’s at the lot trying to sell a car to a younger woman. She mentions how her ex’s band was supposed to play at a wedding and her and Craig double team her into listening to Downtown Sasquatch play while Joey gets a date. Craig tells his friends the next day how it was kismet that they have a gig. Marco then starts teasing Craig about him and Ellie as Craig says most of the drama in his life is about girls and this year he’s going to be celibate.

JT asks Liberty how she’s feeling with her morning sickness and asks if he can help. She says he can by getting his male parts mangled.

Manny’s walking in the café waving to Darcy who is with Spinner before Pete calls her over. She ignores him and he approaches her begging for a clean slate when Craig tells him to stay away from Manny defending her honor. He asks Manny if she’s okay and she asks if he’s seen the video that’s ruined her reputation. Craig says he wishes he could have been there to stop the creep.

At Therapy Craig tells the group he’s in a good place and it’s all because of Ellie. After the meeting Craig is asking if Joey is ready for his date. Joey says not so much because she’s 23 and he’s 34 and what’s he to do….Craig offers to draw him a diagram and Joey asks about Ellie. Craig says she’s just a friend and Joey laughs it off.

The band has their audition for Diane (Car-lot girl) and she confides in Joey that they are almost too cool for her sister and her and Joey have some wine and act all flirty and offers to be her date for the wedding….she accepts his offer.

The band is at the Dot after the audition to celebrate however Marco sets Craig and Ellie up and the two of them start to talk however their non-date is interrupted as Craig calls Manny over saying the more the merrier.

Marco asks him the following day how the ‘date’ went. He tells him Manny was there.

After school Craig and Marco see Joey getting condoms.

Then it’s time for the wedding (I swear this episode mainly has this plot except for the one-off JT/Liberty scene) Ellie walks over and looks hot and Craig is distracted from loading the van. Manny then shows up in a rather skimpy outfit clearly not getting the distinction between Rodie and Groupie and Ellie’ face is all WTF. Craig asks Marco why they must be so hot and tells his friend the Monk lifestyle isn’t for him and can’t help but look at the girls. Ellie tells Manny she should do something and Manny says Craig loves her tambourine and there should be at least one hot girl in every band.

Diane introduces Joey to her friends who laugh at him. The band soon starts their set and Joey and Dianne dance…Joey is horrific. Craig pulls Manny on stage to play and Ellie’s eye rolls are priceless. Joey goes to the bar to get drinks for him and Diane and overhears her two friends mocking him. He comes back to her telling her he’s feeling under the weather. The band is still playing and a miffed Ellie tosses a drumstick at Manny’s head and walks out. Craig asks Marco what to do and Marco says it’s not my issue. Craig asks Ellie what’s wrong and she tells him Manny being there. She doesn’t dress up like this….she all but tells him she did it for him. He tells her how she’s a great friend and has seen him through the lowest of his lows.

Joey tells Craig the date ended early and Craig tells him the gig ended early as well. The doorbell rings and Diane comes to deliver Joey’s hideous favor he forgot to take home. She didn’t mind the dancing and she doesn’t care that he’s a 34 year old single dad who runs a used car lot and lives in a house that isn’t really his.

Craig goes to see Manny who is sitting outside the Simpson home in her PJs. Manny said she had fun the night before and Craig admits he had ulterior motives as he’s seen how things have been since the video…that he wanted to make her smile again. Then they kiss. DUN DUN DRAMA….
