5x15/16 Our Lips Are Sealed

This is another episode I feel I need to place a disclaimer on cause I know people who get triggered when talking about eating disorders and this episode is pretty much all about it sans the Paige/Hazel/Alex B plot in part two…..

Emma is pretty much taking charge of the house as Manny comments how she’s getting so fat she can’t fit into her lucky jeans and she needs to cause the agent from hell who told her to lose her curves wants to audition her again after seeing the Kevin Smith movie. Emma comments that she too is feeling fat and blames it on all the fast food and take out they’ve been eating since Simpson left. They are going to lose weight and Emma is going to get control.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Emma shows Manny a chore wheel that she’s made and Manny hopes laundry is on it cause she’s getting uncomfortable going commando….TMI sweetie TMI…..Armstrong comments on Emma’s slipping grades and she is determined to get things in order. When she gets home she grabs Manny’s chips from her telling her she should snack on celery stalks cause they are negative calories…you burn them when you eat them. She also presents Manny with a diet journal.

Simpson is with Joey and Joey’s girlfriend doing Karaoke. It’s all in good fun until ‘Sometimes When We Touch’ his song with Christine comes on and he declares he misses her.

Emma is calculating how many calories and fat grams her meager lunch is and how much running she needs to do during free period to burn it all off. Emma goes for said run with Manny and sees Simpson. Emma tells her stepfather that she and Manny are training for cross country and asks how things are at Joey’s. He says they are good and Emma suggests that he drops by the house to make dinner for the family. At home Emma tells her mom she has a surprise and he comes over for dinner. Emma tries to leave her parents alone however her mom wants her and Manny to stay. Telling Manny she doesn’t want to binge making the past two days of near starvation for not she tells her friend to just push food around on the plate.

At Dinner Simpson comments how the pipes are leaky again and offers to fix them. Christine tells him it’s fine she can take care of it. Simpson wishes he didn’t leave and Christine points out how he was kicked out for kissing another woman. The girls are asked to leave the room and a fight ensues among the adults.

Emma and Manny didn’t just push food and are complaining about how full they are. Emma replies that despite times call for desperate purging and she heads to the bathroom to do just that.

It’s the moment of truth….weigh in time. In four days Manny’s lost three pounds and Emma’s lost four. Manny wants to celebrate with a pastry however Emma says cheating will only set her back. We then get a montage of the girls eating rabbit food, running, and Emma even purging a few times culminating in Manny’s jeans fitting perfect.

Joey and Simpson are talking about ways to get her back such as fixing the roof or doing other ‘manly’ things however it’s his girlfriend who suggests a grand romantic gesture.

Manny lusts over a slice of Pizza and ends up buying a slice however Emma catches her eating the contraband food and is pissed. She tosses out the remainder of the slice and demands Manny purge ASAP. Manny tells her that one slice won’t kill her and she’s already fit into her jeans and that Emma needs to tone the crazy down. Emma soon faints and Miss H asks if she’s eaten and what but Emma doesn’t want to talk.

Simpson shows up at the mall where Christine works in a suite and with yellow roses in hand. He tells her how sorry he is however she starts walking away. He then starts to sing their song and she tells him she’ll take him back under two conditions….one that he never kiss another woman and two that he quits singing in public.

Emma is making an inspiration board by cutting out magazine photos of emaciated models. Manny tells Emma how the agent said she has ‘Moxie’ whatever that means. She then says how she heard Emma fainted and is worried. Emma tells Manny that she (Emma) is gross and disgusting and hasn’t eaten in days but promises to eat dinner.

Simpson is home and during dinner he tells the family they are going to New York (I assume he cashed in those Mexico tickets after the break up cause he was using his motorcycle fund for this trip now instead) and Emma excuses herself to get a camera to record the moment….when she slips off she goes to the bathroom to purge….to be continued.

Part two opens as Simpson is fixing the messed up pipes as Manny is on the phone long distance with Craig. Emma is letting Christine brush her hair and she wishes she had a time machine to go back to when she was a little girl when life wasn’t complicated. She tells her mom she’s worried about exams as she looks at a text from Peter who wants to secretly meet her. He’s set up a picnic with all kinds of comfort food and she gets all panic mode. She starts to make out with him as his gesture was ‘sexy’ knocking all the food to the ground…its fine she wasn’t hungry anyway.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH

Liberty is going in front of the Science class (with a new teacher since H is now principal.) Manny comments how Emma is looking haggard and her hands are cold. Emma tells her how she’s sorry how she’s stressed she’s just going through allot. Manny calls her out about how she is only eating protein bars and are they even safe.

Paige comments to Alex how someone should give Heather Sinclair (#21) a memo that belly shirts are out and the two are talking. Hazel approaches asking if Paige has gotten an acceptance letter and Alex starts mocking Paige’s waiting for her letter and Hazel. Paige tells her things and people matter and Hazel and Alex need to be friends.

Manny is prepping for the end of the school year variety show and asks Emma how the environmental club is going. Emma tells Manny she lost interest. Peter introduces the girls to his tutoring kid and Manny asks what he could possibly teach people.

Toby tells Hazel she can’t just fill the yearbook with pictures of her and Paige (and season FOUR promo pictures at that) Alex shows up in the yearbook room telling Hazel that they should all hang out and party. Hazel comments that they could go shopping and tells Alex that they’ll see her after school.

During PE Darcy and Chantey are teasing Emma for wearing a baggy windbreaker saying things like ‘they think they seen an extra ounce of fat on her cheek’ and to ‘Call Weight Watchers 9-1-1’ they were just joking around and weren’t intending to be malicious.

Hazel, Alex, and Paige are shopping however Hazel and Alex can’t help but fight about cloths about Paige about everything causing a mall cop to intervene.

Emma and Peter are going for a run and Emma tells him that she wants to go out with him but its hard cause of Manny and she’s getting stressed out keeping up the secret and adding to her huge list of other problems. After her date Manny confronts Emma….she’s seen her food diaries and knows that the power bars are just props. Emma blurts she’s been secretly dating Peter and that’s why she’s been evasive. Manny is mad not cause of that but cause she is pissed at Emma’s lies in general….she’s sleeping on the couch and plans to move home. Emma kisses Peter in public the following day and Manny approaches telling Peter good luck now he can keep track of if Emma’s eating because she’s done.

Alex tries to apologize Paige for the mall however Paige is ignoring her even tossing out the gift Alex gives her.

Peter and Emma toast to being official and when Peter walks away Emma stashes her fries in her jacket pocket. They leave the Dot to head back to campus and Peter finds the fries in Emma’s pocket.

Hazel and Alex talk about how Paige is pissed at both of them and that they should bury the hatchet and they should invite Paige to go out for coffee.

Manny is done with her meeting for the pageant and Peter approaches her with a book. He tells Manny that Emma has anorexic and they should burry the hostility to stage an intervention.

Paige joins Hazel and Alex for coffee. Paige comments about how she always gets no whip and Hazel smiles saying Paige doesn’t like sweets and she told Alex. Alex comments about how Paige ate chocolate cheese cake with her the weekend and they get into a whip cream fight.

Emma comes home to the intervention for her not eating. Emma has an outburst telling Peter he likes taking advantage of drunken girls, Manny is the drunken girl and last she saw Simpson was making out with Peter’s mother. Emma storms out of the room and downstairs and starts tossing around Manny’s things to kick her out for good. As she’s flipping out she has a panic attack.

Hazel, Alex, and Paige end up in mall jail for their food fight and they start laughing about it.

Emma’s told about the attack which her mom says was brought on by starvation and that she can’t go home because she needs to talk to a psychologist and get help for her serious psychological condition. Emma promises she won’t die and she’s going to beat her disorder.
