14x01 Smells Like Teen Spirit

As promised I've pulled up the season on Youtube and have started to slowly but surely finish up my recap project as I want to be a competitionist damn it!

So all I remember from season 13 is that it was long and draggy and ended on the cliffhanger that our beloved Clare is preggers....

So the episode begins as the school is being evacuated due to a fire (why not...just why not the damn school is freaking cursed) and Miles and others are looking anxiously for Frankie...

HOWEVER we don't know if they find her yet as it flashes back to 10 weeks earlier and Becky is in front of the school which is still recovering from the hurricane damages (cursed I tell you!) handing out flyers for Power Cheer and to parallel the cold opening is also looking for Frankie who she hears is an ace tumbler. Drew comments that the school has a Cheer squad already however according to Becky this is not the same thing as Power Squad but it's an actual competitive sport. Zoe and Tristan show interest however Becky informs Tristan it's girls only. The underclassman head in the school as Alli and Dallas head out... it's the beginning on their final quarter of senior year...FINALLY. Alli is looking for Clare but she's MIA...she and Dallas leave and Drew tells Becky he's sure Clare doesn't care about them (I forgot Drecky were a thing for a moment) Becky however isn't being bummed about Clare knowing about them she's more worried cause Power Cheer is HER fresh start and if Zoe is on the team it will keep her from moving past the fact her brother raped the underclassman. Drew tells her to just not let Zoe join..as President he decrees their last term be awesome just as soon as he finds his VP. His VP AKA

Clare is in the ladies room suffering from a bout of morning sickness when Alli comes in...Alli asks if it's the Flu and Clare says she at a bad breakfast burrito...Alli teases saying is she sure it's not morning sickness and Clare all but admits she's knocked up...and it's most likely Drew's put she's getting an abortion she's already decided and picks up the phone to call the clinic... WHOA...again...a total 180 of her character from the early years.

WHATEVER IT TAKES (still what I affectionately call the power point opening...we get a full song again in Next Class though so there is that...)




Zoe and Tristan are skipping into class...she's glad that she can put the trial behind her and focus on the positive like Power Cheer after all she was the fourth main girl in the twelfth Bring It On Movie so she has it in the bag...Zoe Riva's is just the gift that keeps on giving let me just put it out there. Zig looks over and is all 'really cheerleading' Zoe is all heart eyes while Tris is unnamed at Mr. Novak's presence and Maya is just 'whatever' Tristan gets a text and skips out of the class presumably for a booty call most likely with Miles. Zig scoots over and is surprised he didn't peg Zoe for a Pom Pom Girl however she informs him POWER CHEER IS A LEGIT SPORT he says she'll have less time for him and she tells him he'll just have to lust after him from afar.

Clare and Alli are in class and Clare gets a call from the clinic and heads into the hall to talk...Drew overhears her and asks what she doesn't have to wait for. Drew wants to know why she didn't talk to him over Spring Break...Clare says it's called BREAK for a reason however he informs her Simpson has been up his butt about the renewal project..papa Hollingsworth is bringing in $$$ and Press. Clare promises she is on things.

Miles and Tristan are skipping Chem for a clandestine make out session.. Tristan prefers it in secret but he just hopes Miles doesn't want things on the DL due to Maya...or his dad... Miles claims he's in a good place with his father and even agreed to a campaign photoshoot...that's supposed to be in 15 mins and so he cuts the call short.

Power Cheer Practice begins  and Becky wants girls who aren't afraid to toss, tumble, and put through pain...we also I believe get our first look at Lola and Shay (or were they in season 13 I totally honestly forgot) Zoe shows off her 'Bring It On' moves but Becky is unimpressed. Becky tells the girls to also think of fundraising ideas.

Miles is late and Frankie says he should be sorry cause she missed try outs to be there... Miles tells his dad he was busy and he tells his family he was making out with his boyfriend...not a lie

Clare is cleaning out the council office however she's flustered... Drew once again confronts her for her passive aggression and asks if it's cause he's dating Becky and she says no it's cause he got her pregnant he tells her they used a condom and she says that they were the 1% that wasn't effected...he wonders how he'll tell Audra and Becky and Clare says she's aborting...he's glad she has a plan in place and offers to help her in any way he can she says just keep it a secret.

The next morning the Hollingsworths are having breakfast and Frankie apparently made the team even though she missed try outs. Miles asks if everyone is excited about the renewal assembly however his parents want to confront him about this so called boyfriend and his acting out he never said he was or wasn't gay...Frankie asks if he's bi or simply experimenting with fluid sexuality however dad has had enough...he's not gay just a spoiled brat who just wants to test me.

Zoe tells Maya and Zig she's the newest member of the squad however Becky pulls her aside and says she didn't make the team she was good however it would be a conflict of interest with her emotional baggage...Zoe is quick to bring up the fact that Becky's 'Irish' twin brother was the one who gave her said baggage. Becky calls Zoe a distraction ...Zig and Maya say screw Becky forget about the team but Zoe isn't a forgiving person.

Clare is in class once more and she gets a message she got into Columbia as she's celebrating the boys candidly let Alli know Clare is leaking....what's this? a New York Hospital and a Home Test were wrong and Clare is not pregnant? If only...Clare doesn't think it's her period but that something is wrong with the baby so she and Ali head to the doctors. Zoe overhears.

At the Doctors Clare is told it's too early for an ultrasound and that it's even a miracle she conceived at all considering she just had cancer. This is when the realization finally hits Clare that there is an actual human growing inside of her.

At the Renewal Assembly, Miles asks Tristan to skip....the press asks for a statement and Miles is all set to spin it to make his dad look like a homophobe.

Power Cheer are ready to preform even though they ARE NOT THE SCHOOLS CHEER SQUAD BUT A COMPETITIVE TEAM...member that kids... Zoe tells Becky there are no hard feelings that everyone has baggage like how Drew knocked Clare up...that's baggage...hearing this and seeing Drew standing with Clare distracts Becky causing her to fall and break her leg. Zoe is pleased cause now she's taken Becky's captain spot.

Clare is second guessing her abortion plans...what if his is her only chance to have a baby cause of the cancer complication? She was genuinely happy when she was told the baby was fine... Ali tells Clare from day one Clare had her future planned out...Clare wonders what if this was ment to be...Ali knows she'll do the right thing. Drew is glad Clare's out of the woods and there isn't any drama...Clare tells him it was just spotting and she's still pregnant...he tells her he'll drive her to the clinic and nurse her until she's better however Clare's made up her mind...she's keeping her baby...
