13x28/29 Sparks Will Fly:

Maya is in the Matlin kitchen opening up a fancy package when Zig walks in and she tries to hide it. She comments about the Stetson he’s wearing and he tells her it’s for Wild West Night before snagging the box and opening it. It’s another lavish gift from Miles despite the fact that they are allegedly over.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Clare and Drew are so in sync as they plan the Wild West Night which according to Alli isn’t an actual dance which is said just after calling Clare and Drew out for their couples banter yet again. Clare then says Eli is coming to the event. She doesn’t talk much about him because they both have their own lives but he just did a western at film school so they’ll have perfect his and hers cowboy costumes.

Zoe is at an audition and continuity note it’s with the Director Eli had walked out on a summer internship to sit by Clare with. She says she was on Westdrive as if it will give her clout and Brett says he’ll keep in touch.

Maya is breaking into Miles’s locker but not to pilfer simply to return the gift he gave her. Maya says the gift is super sweet but money can’t buy her love…though she misses him…but on Zig likes her and it would break him. Tristan says she needs to pick a team…he has and reveals a TEAM MILES shirt.

The music class is practicing for Wild West Night and she gives Miles back the harmonica he gave her saying he scares her the way he acts out..the way he makes her feel…but she’s willing to go for another round so long as they do it in secret and Zig doesn’t find out.

Zoe gets a 50% on her History test because she was focusing on the audition which she believes she choked on. She’s told that sure she got only a 50 but that’s because she only answered 50% of the questions to begin with and got them all right. She is then offered a place on the Bright Sparks (continuity again) as a means to earn extra credit.

Drew and Clare are getting ready for the dance and he’s asking about Eli. Clare comments about how he’s not getting back to her calls as her phone rings and speak of the devil it’s him canceling on his visit and royally pissing Clare off.

Zoe shows up at the quiz bowl meeting and only buzzes in for one question though Alli the captain reluctantly lets her in.
Tristan says she shouldn’t join cause it’s social suicide and she goes on about how if her acting career tanks she wants school to fall back on and says how everyone thinks she’s a victim yet Brett doesn’t see her as one. Tristan then suggests she tells Brett about her assault because it will work in her favor and she deserves a happy ending.

Winston is keeping watch for Zig while Miles and Maya are making out. He announces Zig is coming and they break apart trying to act casual. Zig then pulls Maya away to talk in private. Zig wants to apologize for being an ass and asks if she and Miles are over cause if so she should give them a chance. Maya asks what about the house rule to not hook up. Zig says he won’t be living there forever and wants her to wait because he can’t lose her to another guy.

Clare is venting to Alli about Eli. She admits she’s in love with the idea of Eli before the whole cheating scandal but now….her rant is interrupted by a rat in the Edwards-Martin home and with Helen and Glenn away at a Woodworking Convention and Jake presumably either still picking mushrooms or through words of god in California with Katie, she’s alone in the house.

Zoe does a new screen test with Brett where she draws on her past experience however she starts drawing too deep and freaks out.

Clare calls Drew to get rid of her rat problem. Drew offers to stay the night but Clare says she can’t because she’s with Eli. Drew suggests she shouldn’t be with Eli anymore.

Zoe apologizes for her outburst and Brett suggests she see a therapist instead of playing a role that hits so close to home for her.

Clare calls Eli and leaves him a message saying to please call her as soon as he can...no…now she is going off on a tangent and breaking up with him over voice mail.

Zoe is a bright spark practice as her cell buzzes. Brett has cast her and so she’s over hanging out with the peasants of the quiz bowl team.

The grade ten music class is practicing more for the Western Night and ironically the song she’s singing is about a love triangle as Zig and Miles both look on. Zig asks if Maya wishes to go to lunch but she declines. He leaves and she approaches Miles who is overseeing her with Zig and Zig thinking that he even has a chance. Miles wants to know why she’s been stringing him along for a year.

Clare (and her ample cleavage) are selling last minute tickets to Wild West Night as Alli comes rushing down the hall with all the post break up essentials however Clare’s eyes look like she hasn’t cried a tear which she hasn’t. Drew then shows up and she ever so bluntly tells him that she and Eli broke up. Alli asks if Drew needs anything and he says he could use help getting scarecrow decorations from the prop room. Clare offers to go with.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH

Frankie tells Zoe she’ll miss her so much when she goes to film and Zoe comments how it’s only three months as she reads the script seeing how her character kills herself at the end instead of attempting to escape. She hates the ending as it says to people not to fight back. She doesn’t wish to play victim so she decides to call Brett to talk.

Maya approaches Zig who calls her out on her anxiety thanks to her bit nails. Zig thinks she’s ready to give him a chance. Maya shakes her head and Zig says he’s not her charity case and he’s not her friend.

Clare and Drew go in the prop room to look for the scarecrow. Clare says that they better move fast before people think they are going to make out. They almost kiss when she says that it must be in the box labeled hoedown. Clare goes to grab the box however Drew helping her off a step ladder leads them to having sex.

Zoe gives Brett her suggestions and he tells her he’ll consider it and gives her new stage direction which still involve her killing herself. Brett gets what happened but tells Zoe if she can’t work with what was written she can be replaced.

Alli and Dallas are collecting tickets and making sure that students don’t enter the dance with guns even if they are just props to complement their western look. Dallas tells Alli that Eli is here and he told him that Clare was in the prop room getting supplies. Alli rolls her eyes knowing that Clare isn’t getting supplies but is getting her kicks with Drew instead.

Maya asks Miles if he’s seen Zig and Miles tells her to chill, Zig’s a big boy. Maya can’t chill however as the last boy she had disappear on her disappeared for good. She wants to find him but Miles tells her to stay and sing and he’ll go track the other boy down…for her.

Clare tells Drew what they did was nothing like her dream and she blushes after saying that. She can’t believe it just happened and Drew hopes it happens again. They share a post-sex kiss as Eli walks in. Clare wants to know what he’s doing there and Eli asks Clare if the reason she dumped him was for Drew. Clare tells him it’s complicated and that ever since he hooked up with Lenore things have been off for them. Drew leaves to give them space and Clare tells Eli she would of broken up to his ears however he never picks up the phone.

Zoe tells Tristan that she and Brett had creative differences and she had to drop the project. It was like she was re-living things but worse and couldn’t face the pain. Zoe’s mom then shows up at the party but Zoe hides as she doesn’t want to get dragged to set. He drags Zoe backstage where Maya is freaking out about Miles and Zig before begging Zoe to take her solo and sing her song for her. Zoe says Maya is just lucky she’s a Patsy Kline fan before Maya runs out.

Miles confronts Zig in the greenhouse where he and Tiny are drinking. He tries to talk however it leads to fisticuffs.

Eli wants to know if their epic romance has really ended via voicemail as Clare laments about how lonely she’s felt while he’s been in New York and how she had to break up with him for him to come and visit her. He knows they can make things work, Lenore was a one-time thing and he knows Drew is just a one off mistake as well. Clare says Drew wasn’t a mistake he was there for her when Eli wasn’t and that their story ended months ago. She’s moved on and he should to.

Zoe sings on stage as Dallas sees Drew. Dallas can tell Eli must have caught him and Clare they talk it out and Dallas tells Drew perhaps he’s Clare’s Zoe.

Speaking of Zoe, when she’s done singing her mom confronts her about blowing her break and that she needs to apologize to Brett. Zoe says no, she’s been acting since before she can remember and all her roles have been her mother’s choice. She needs to do this for her and her mother says she needs to spin things so it doesn’t make her look like a Diva.

Miles asks why Winston isn’t at the dance and he says its case he won’t be able to bring his gun in and it’s an antique replica and he didn’t want it mixed with toys. Miles then takes the gun as a means to scare Zig. Miles is pulling the gun on Zig as Maya and Tristan run out. Miles says to relax as its fake and Maya chews him out. He said he’d find him not pull a gun. Maya says she can’t be with a guy who scares her…not again (and these references to cam are kind of chilling looking ahead as some of the season 14 teasers)

Drew tells Clare if they get together now all he’ll be is her rebound and he doesn’t want that.

Zig and Maya arrive at the Matlin house and Maya assures Zig that Miles isn’t her boyfriend anymore. Zig is glad because Miles is crazy and she can do better. Maya is blaming everything on herself and can’t believe Zig doesn’t totally hate her and he admits they are still friends before sharing a pint of ice cream together.
