13x09 This Is How We Do It

So while the Summer season seemingly dragged on and on despite it NOT being in telenovela format like the previous three seasons it’s NOTHING compared to the school year that begins in this episode that doesn’t quite seem to end (and whose timeline is inconsistent at best…seriously 13B ends at Thanksgiving which is OCTOBER in Canada and in 13C it’s implied it’s January though everyone is all dressed up in crop tops and shorts despite it being in Toronto where there is weather and I’m just assuming as I type this since there are three episodes yet to air that 13D/the season ends at Spring Break with the shortened 14^th season being the rest of the year….end rant.

The episode starts as like I said students are heading back to Degrassi. Clare is heading into the school with a hideous black wig and she’s met with fellow seniors Alli and Jenna. They tell Clare that Dallas went to get the key to the auditorium since it’s before school and student (senior?) council are getting prepped for welcome back assemblage. Conner and Jenna engage in PDA and Clare comments to break it up just so she can hug them. Dallas is key less and Clare is flipping out cause they need to prep. Drew already has it set up…. Sure it’s six AM but he couldn’t sleep and he wants to start his presidency (as a second year senior yet) right and the place is all good to go.

Students have now assembled and Imogen asks Becky how her summer is before biting her tongue thinking about Adam.

Tristan comments how Maya is lucky she has her crush set for the year but Maya says she’s there for music not boys….ha yea….Clare said she was at Degrassi for school not boys back in season eight and tell me HOW many of her plotlines revolve around guys….just saying blondie. Tristan calls her out on getting contacts just to have eye sex with her cello. Miles is talking to Winston about girls at the school and says there are a few worth checking out.

Drew starts the assembly and introduces the council, athletic chair Dallas, social chair Alli, treasurer Connor, secretary Jenna and VP Clare. He’s ready to kick start the year however he soon collapses onstage.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Clare hopes Drew is okay and Alli teases that he had several freshman by his side. Clare comments about it will hold his attention till his fiancé comes back to visit and soon Jenna and Conner walk into the room chatting about how they only have THREE classes together. Alli comments about how it’s not like he’s a world away and Jenna and Clare tell her how she’s better off forgetting Leo and Clare even teases about 

Alli’s mystery date she has that evening who she doesn’t want to talk about. Clare and Jenna assume it’s Dallas and tease her about it.

Speaking of Dallas he’s worried about Drew. He can pretend in front of others but Dallas can see through him. He’s been thinking about Adam allot and he’s been having trouble sleeping and has even been given pills to help aid him. Drew assures Dallas he’s been taking them and this is just the first time he’s been happy since his brother’s death.

Simpson is fanboying over actual celebrity Zoe Rivas transferring to Degrassi and he hopes she’s not like her alter. Simpson swears he doesn’t watch West Drive but his son does. How old WOULD Jack be right now….seven if you don’t account for ret-cons in timeline right? Zoe doesn’t know why she has to go to the school and her mother says it’s cause she’s fifteen and jobless and hints that there was a bigger reason for her character being killed off then storyline dictation.

Student Council is about to meet and Clare comments about them needing to fill a few more rep seats. They talk about the first event of the year and Drew suggests a Dance to which Dallas seconds however Clare wants to do something in Adam’s memory, Becky agrees and they begin to talk about an Anti Texting and Driving Rally though Drew thinks Adam would of wanted a beach party more. Clare says they should present their ideas and have a vote the next day.

Miles approaches Maya and Tristan asking if they have any suggestions for potential girlfriends. They start to talk about his relationship with Zoe before noticing her in their class….awkward. Mr.P enters the class and tells Zoe to sit and she ends up flipping out and tossing a coffee on him.

Alli goes to meet her ‘date’ and it turns out to be Leo he transferred to Toronto anyways and embraces her with a hug.

Drew and Dallas are playing video games however its 1AM on a school night and Dallas wants to crash. Drew comments how he can’t believe Clare would propose what she did. It’s not like Adam will come back from the dead and it’s pointless to dwell. Drew says he’s going to crash on the couch dumps his pills in his hand contemplating taking them.

Jenna and Clare comment about how Alli is glowing and ask how Dallas was. Alli says how it’s Leo and he’s in Toronto. Jenna brings up how Leo grabbed Alli’s arm and hurt her and Alli calls them out saying how their boyfriends are far from being saints, Eli crashed his car into a wall and brought a gun to school while Conner stole women’s underpants.

Drew is MIA in class and is woken up by his phone buzzing. Bianca was sending him a sexy voicemail however realizing he’s slept in meant that he actually slept. Bianca says how he fell asleep talking to her on the phone at 4AM. He was a bit groggy but it was cute. He says he’s going but to leave him a message.

Simpson scolds Zoe for spilling her drink on a teacher and her mom says she was acting out cause she was Dyslexic. Zoe asks WHY she would tell the principal that cause she wanted to be expelled and asks why can’t she be homeschooled. Mama Rivas says since Zoe is out of work she needs to get a job and it’s Zoe’s fault for being fired and apparently deemed un hirable.

Imogen is outside lounging on a beach chair as Drew arrives at the school. Clare confronts him for ordering all these items for a beach party and undermining her position as VP. If he didn’t want to do the rally he should of told someone. Drew asks if Dallas ordered things and Dallas said he was in the kitchen at 3AM eating ice cream and ordering things. Dallas says it must have been side effects from the pills and that Drew better get the party green lit.

Tristan asks if Maya is going to the fashion club meeting but Maya wants to work on a song potentially starting a band and Miles says he’s going out for basketball. Tristan suggests that he join too since Owen was on the team and all. Zoe asks if she could be a cheerleader but Miles doesn’t do re-runs. She trips and falls into Drew’s arms and Drew tells her he needs her…for council.

Alli wonders if they did the right thing and Leo says they did. He’s staying with his godfather and working on getting into TU and in the meantime he’ll work at the Dot. Alli brings up when he hit her and he says it was a onetime thing and he promises to be better for her. Her phone buzzes that she has to go for her meeting however Leo convinces her to stay.

Clare asks why there are a slew of freshmen girls there and Drew says he’s appointed them to fill out the open slots on the council. Clare and Becky present the rally but since Drew hired a slew of ringers his party wins out and Clare is pissed at his dirty politics and tells him that he’s on his own. Drew has them put their contact information in his cell.

Drew is on the couch at night and its 4AM this time however he doesn’t groggily call Bianca but instead he calls Zoe and hazily flirts with her
