12x27x28 Tonight Tonight RECAP

This will most likely be my last episode that I’m re-capping via DVR as according to amazon I shall be getting my DVD’s tomorrow (and by the time this posts I’m sure I’ll have devoured all the glorious extra content) Anyway this episode was a weird one as it actually aired in the US a few days before Canada and it aired as a double episode (though it was touted as a two part season {fall} finale and not a movie/special) since in the US for some reason they’ve never aired Degrassi on ‘Black Friday’ and they decided to air it on Tuesday instead.  

Adam arrives at the mall just in time because Bullfrog is about to announce the contenders for the Battle of the Bands….you mean they were stressing all about it way back in Building a Mystery and WhisperHug hadn’t even been given a slot in it? It’s announced they get in as Imogen comments a girl is checking out Adam….Adam teases that no she’s checking out her. No Imogen’s right and the girl slips Adam her number asking him to ‘Call her Maybe’. Meanwhile Maya points out that the past four winners of the competition won with covers and they should do the ‘Superman’ song. Mo says to not say their ideas out loud for fear of them getting stolen.

WHATEVER IT TAKES….

Adam is pondering over calling Missy as Becky asks if she can study with him. Adam gives her the cold shoulder and Dave observes. Dave asks Adam what’s up and Adam tells him how Becky went to reparative therapy to get over him and then ends up dialing Missy’s number for Adam.

Maya and Campbell are studying for French. They start getting a bit flirty and they kiss however Tori walks in and tells them she thinks she may be losing Zig. He’s been acting weird and Tori thinks he likes another girl. Maya tells her he just has allot on his plate and it’s nothing to worry about however Maya knows Zig is in like with her.

Eli and Clare are in Clare’s room studying calculus and Clare tells him that once he goes to film school he won’t have to deal with Math….well I mean except the gen ed math requirements but they can be as basic as he wants. Clare looks at her watch and counts down to ten and like clockwork Helen is there to tell her it’s time for Eli to go home for the evening. Clare is seventeen and doesn’t see why her boyfriend can’t stay past sundown. Eli leaves and Clare soon sees Jake walking past her room with Katie who is begging to procrastinate from their own study session a bit longer by binge watching Game of Thrones. Clare tells Jake Katie needs to go because there are no guests past 8PM but Jake says Glenn told him she could stay as long as she wanted.

Adam and Dave are studying when Missy calls Adam. She wants to meet him for a date the next day and Adam’s glad that he is getting over Becky who speaking of sent him an email which Dave prompts him to delete. Adam does but admits Becky and him would have worked if he wasn’t Trans and plans on not telling Missy about it.

Maya wants Zig to cut the crap. She’s with Campbell and just not into him that way. Maya tells him to be nice to Tori and forget they kissed.

Clare approaches Jake outside at lunch and gives him a Turkey Swiss sandwich which is his second favorite next to Chicken Salad. She then comments about the double standard of Eli having a Curfew while he’s having sleepovers with Katie. Jake is already over this discussion however Clare has an agenda. She wants Jake to invite Eli over as his guest while their parents are away at a craft fair and then when it hits 8PM he won’t be kicked out cause he’s Jake’s guest not hers. Jake asks what’s in it for him and Clare says her happiness.

Drew asks Adam if he plans on telling Missy he’s FTM. Adam says no way. He then gives Adam his lucky leather jacket and sprays him with body spray before asking what if things get hot? Adam tells him he’s got the compression vest to cover up his boobs but Drew points out the lack of equipment down there and is soon giving his kid brother a cucumber to stuff down his pants.

Eli and Clare are counting down the minutes until they can be together however Helen comes downstairs informing Clare that Glenn is working late on a job so she’s accompanying her to the craft fair instead since they haven’t had mother/daughter time in a while and Clare is done with her studying. Clare is mad her plan is thwarted. She tells Eli he doesn’t need to stay and Jake teases for Clare to make him a sock monkey.

Maya, Campbell, and Tori are at the Matlin’s studying and Maya tells Tori she talked to Zig and they are solid so she has nothing to worry about. The doorbell rings and Maya yells for Katie to get the door and seconds later Zig has arrived with two bags of chips….. Ketchup…Maya’s favorite and a flavor I wish they didn’t discontinue here stateside….end rant. Zig tells Maya how he was listening to the song and he wanted to talk about it. Maya says she has a recording from practice she’ll play for Campbell and Tori to get opinions.

The song plays as Adam waits for Missy and is observing the posture and body language of other males waiting in the park. Missy wants to check out a vintage store and comments how they announced a major celebrity guest for the contest…Chaz Bono….you know Sonny and Cher’s famous FTM son. Missy comments to Adam he’s not like other guys…he’s got manners.

Zig didn’t know Campbell and Tori were going to be at the house and he needed to be alone with her. Maya says NOTHING can happen between them. He knows she’s with Campbell but he doesn’t care. After the battle of the bands he’s breaking up with Tori because he feels like crap for stringing her along.

Missy is trying on a dress and asks Adam to zip it up for her. The zipping soon turns into a steamy make out session where Adam’s cucumber falls out of his pants causing him to storm out of the shop.

Eli ended up staying at the Martin home and some pot smoking went down as Jake is skating across the kitchen floor like a race car while Eli is following behind him with air freshener. Clare comes in and calls the boys out for being high. Clare tells Eli to go splash some water on his face and hide in her room. He does and Helen soon comes in commenting about how Jake is skating in the house AGAIN and is going to mess up the floor.

Missy chases Adam down the street in the dress she was trying on. She wants an explanation and says it’s okay if he’s got a dime stack because you know what they say…something about the size of the boat and the motion of the ocean. Adam tells her there is no boat and like Chaz he’s an FTM. Missy says Love, Peace, and Rock and Roll is her family motto and she doesn’t see anything wrong with it and she’s got a thing for bass players especially ones who hold doors. She asks what song WhisperHug is singing and Adam tells her. She then tells him she needs to go back to pay for the dress but then they can go to dinner.

Clare comes up into her room to find Eli under the covers of her bed shirtless. He thought she wanted him to go to bed when she said to go into her room. Clare tells him he needs to climb out her window. Eli comments that it’s so high…he’s high and he’s a bad boyfriend. Clare assures him he’s not before getting caught by Helen. Eli then leaves through the front and Helen yells at her for sneaking Eli around. As Eli leaves some of the pot falls from his pocket and Helen is appalled Eli is a druggie and bans him from coming over all together. Clare tells Helen the pot isn’t even Eli’s its Jake’s. Jake tells Helen that they didn’t smoke it inside and Helen says she’s going to have a LONG talk with Glenn and for Jake to take his DAMN skates off.

Adam is getting hot dogs for him and Missy when Becky shows up. She’s out with her dad and he’s looking for a parking spot. Adam tells her she better go before her dad catches her with an abomination and she tells Adam she sent him an email and asks if he read it. Adam says he didn’t read it and won’t read anything from her. Becky tells him it didn’t work…it can’t cure feelings. She likes boys and Adam is a boy between the ears where it matters. Missy asks why Becky is and Adam says nobody important….TBC

With it being a double episode the next episode picks up right after the end title card no credits no commercial break splitting them up.

Spring Break is almost here just two more exams and they are home free. Dave asks Adam how the date with Missy was. Adam tells him how Becky ran into them and that he read her email. He comments Becky is crazy and drives him nuts and while Missy is cool he’s thinking of giving Becky a second chance.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH

Katie asks Maya why she didn’t drink her yogurt and asks if it’s cause of exam stress or band stress and no matter what it is it’ll be fine. Maya says it’s none of the above and she feels like the world is ending and the sky is falling. Katie tells her sister easy and calls her ‘Chicken Little’ which for those of you who don’t follow the cast on social mediums is actually a bit of meta as Chloe affectionately calls Olivia this in real life. Maya casually reminds her sis of the five seconds she and Campbell were broken up and how she kissed Zig at the pageant….well Zig is now in like with her and plans on breaking up with Tori after battle of the bands and she needs to stop it. Katie tells her no she doesn’t if Zig doesn’t like Tori she can’t force him to stay with her. Maya then asks if she should tell Campbell about the kiss and Katie tells her what’s in the past is in the past and to just focus on exams, winning battle of the bands, and to drink her damn yogurt.

The grade eleven exams is over and Adam tells Becky she retrieved her email from the trash and it was beautiful but it’s too little too late as he’s met another girl who doesn’t care that he’s trans and has allot in common with him….and yet he can’t stop thinking about her. Becky tells Adam she can’t tell her parents about them and it sucks that it’s so complicated. Adam thinks she’s still ashamed of him cause of this and walks off.

Clare asks Jake what went down with Glenn did he take away the truck. Jake shows her his keys as she asks if he’s getting a curfew or going to rehab. No, Glenn just told him to not smoke anymore. Clare is pissed that Jake just got a slap on the wrist and she’s not allowed to see her boyfriend at her house and wants a family meeting.

Everyone passed the oral French midterm and now it’s time to focus on the battle of the bands. Campbell holds Maya back in class. He’s terrible with words but he likes her. He gives her a charm bracelet saying that he plans on getting her a new charm for each show she plays. She loves it and then admits that she kissed Zig when they were out. Campbell is pissed and walks out.

WhisperHug have one more practice before the battle. There is awkward tension between Zig and Maya and Adam is too busy texting to play bass. This is not the last time Adam will be too preoccupied with his damn IPhone to function.

They get to the battle and Missy’s band ends up stealing WhisperHug’s song. Adam was played and now the band is screwed.

Clare holds a meeting about the double standards…. Jake has his own truck yet she isn’t even allowed to borrow the car. Katie can pretty much sleep over but Eli had to leave at 8 and now he’s banned from being over all together and he was taking drugs and got a slap on the wrist. Helen agrees with what Clare is saying…..and thinks that Glenn needs to tighten up when it comes to Jake’s privileges.  Glenn and Helen start to argue and Jake walks off leading Clare to steal the keys to the truck.

Adam asks Missy if it was a coincidence however she admits she wanted to win and WhisperHug was their biggest threat. Adam was easy to play. Her band mate comments how Adam has a great taste in cover songs and asks what kind of vegetable he’s packing today in his pants. Adam sucker punches him and Bullfrog sees leading WhisperHug to be disqualified. Mo’s pissed telling Adam this had nothing to do with him being trans and everything to do with being a stupid boy and thinking with his dick instead of his brain…even though…yea…it’s just a metaphor. Adam vows to set things right and walks off.

Clare picks Eli up in the truck and Eli thinks it’s hot.

Adam goes to Chaz FTM to FTM. He tells Chaz how they got disqualified because he punched a guy for making fun of him being FTM and brings up packing with the cucumber. He admits he did this all for Becky cause he loves her but her parents don’t approve so he wants to move on and it’s hard. Chaz tells him that he’s dating the girl not the parents and that he’s his idol for being so far along in High School also that he’ll talk to Bullfrog about getting them back in.

Zig suggests they just run onstage without singing. He gets Maya to smile and she tells him how she told Campbell about the kiss and now he’s not answering her texts. He tells her he’s still breaking up with Tori so if she and Campbell are done…. Maya tells him she’s not in love with him she’s in love with CAMPBELL. Tori then shows up and is pissed. Mo then tells the two of them that Adam fixed things and they can play just not with Adam. They end up singing an original song and Adam heads out to make it right with Becky.

Helens trying to call Clare but she’s over fighting. Eli tells her to just pick her battles as she only has a little bit more than a year of High School left then she’ll be off at College and can make her own rules. Clare caves and picks up the call. Clare says everything is okay and she has the truck and Helen tells her that since it’s not a school night they can stay out until eleven and that Eli is now not only allowed back at the house but he can now stay over until ten.

Campbell shows up to the battle and listens to Maya singing.

Adam shows up at the Bakers and tells Becky he understands that she can’t tell her parents and its okay…baby steps…they need to try. Reverend Baker shows up and asks what’s going on. Becky tells him she loves Adam.

Campbell congratulates Maya on winning third place. Maya is about to give him the bracelet back and he tells her to wait. He knows she was confused when they split before and asks if she still loves him. She does and says it’s only been him and they kiss. He tells her he’s not going to let her get away that easy…. BULLSHIT.

Adam and Becky show up to the loft where there is a party going on. Adam introduces Becky to Drew, Fiona, and Bianca as his girlfriend and Fiona tells him the band took third and will be there any minute. Drew then pulls Adam aside asking if he’ll be his best man…in about twenty four hours. They are flying to Vegas for spring break and getting hitched and Fiona and Imogen are coming too. He’s in and everything gets wrapped up in a nice bow once more as the second arch of the season ends.
