8x11 Causing a Commotion recap

Shep announces he’s Principal of the year as the kids are coming into the lab. Conner puts a desk lamp by his computer to stop the reflection from bothering his eyes. Shep comes into the room and offers a day off school for two ‘geeks’ to help him out. Alli and KC take on the task of documenting him for his award and as he leaves he trips over Conner’s lamp cord saying it’s hazardous and it needs to be removed cause he doesn’t plan to give preferential treatment to anyone. Clare comments except for football players and lands a detention.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Clare doesn’t like how Shep is telling them to be more normal and she’s thinking about protesting him being teacher of the year. Derek and Bruce start to harass them and Clare says they should do it together.

Sav comments to Danny that Anya’s been by his side since he broke his nose. Anya can’t believe Riley only got three days suspension for what he did to poor Sav (I guess their friendship’s toast) and Danny comments how the Principal of the Year needs his star running back. Sav comments how his nose makes him look tough and Anya comments that he’s not tough cause she beats him at arm wrestling. He laughs and it’s revealed that he lets her win. They start getting all flirty and Sav goes in for a kiss. Anya pulls back. She admits she still loves him but she’s not ready to get back with him cause of what was said when they went camping. She’s not sure he’s willing for her to meet his parents and that’s a deal breaker.

Shep comes into the class and now all the desks have lamps. Clare points out that Connor couldn’t have the lamp because that would be special treatment but now everyone has it so it’s fair. He wants them to all take them off but they don’t so the class has detention.

Sav tells Danny how if Anya meets the parents it’ll be over cause dating is foreboden but if she doesn’t then she won’t get back with him and he’s kind of between a rock and hard place.

In detention Conner is drumming his pencil and Alli is getting annoyed. She wants to take his pencil from him and he spits at her. She breaks the pencil and Connor pushes her into the trash can. Mr.P comes back and says he’s telling Shep while Clare tells Alli that she knows how he is so leave him alone. Clare tells KC he just doesn’t understand. Clare then hears Shep and Simpson fighting. Shep wants to expel Connor from Degrassi while Simpson wants to wait until tests are done.

Sav is practicing what to tell his parents about Anya and I just want to point out how much I love the Bhandari sibling relationship. He asks his dad if he was interested in other girls before he met his wife. His dad says yes he was a teenager. Sav tells him how this isn’t India and things are different and his dad agrees to meet Anya.

Clare tells Connor he doesn’t have to go home he just needs to apologize to Alli. Connor says why should he stay everyone thinks he’s a freak even Simpson who is taking him for tests. Clare comments about how all his cloths are the same…sure she wears her uniform but she has other things. He comments that she thinks he’s a freak too and flips out.

The next day Clare is wearing real cloths and comments that she went over the night before and Conner flipped out. Simpson pulls Clare to talk and he tells her Conner was just diagnosed with Asperges and could use a friend.

Sav and Anya are in art class and Dawes is talking about a painting of Romeo and Juliette and how she wants the class to interpret it. Sav gives Anya a key and invites her over to dinner.

Clare shows up at Simpson’s to see Connor. He didn’t think that she’d see him before he left and she tells him that he’s not a freak he’s a genius and he belongs at Degrassi.

Anya is having dinner with the Bhandari’s. His mom tells her that she’s glad that Sav has a friend like her but that Sav isn’t going to end up with her. She says she can convert but his parents are crystal clear that they want Sav to marry an Indian girl. Anya understands and leaves and Sav is sad.

Alli and KC show Shep their cut and they start to shoot his intro as Clare (back in her uniform) busts in. Clare tells him that Conner can do well if he’s given a chance though Shep is glad the school is down a ‘freak’ Clare calls him a terrible Principal and he calls her a little Bitch. Yea…that’s not something a Principal should be saying. He tells Alli and KC to forget the intro he’ll do it live. Alli wants to know if Clare has a death or rather an expulsion wish while KC wants to show the school She’s true colors. The video is shown and Clare’s confrontation with Shep is shown. KC and Clare speak up and soon Jane and Danny stand up in solidarity and the student body walks out in protest about Shep. The president of the school board wants a statement as to why Clare caused the uprising and she says how it all started with the lamp.

Sav tells Anya he’s sorry he didn’t know they’d be blindsided. He tells Anya how he told his parents he wasn’t going to stop seeing her and they’d cross the whole fiancé bridge when they get to it.

Simpson is going to step in as acting Principal for a month (foreshadowing that he will be the real Principal the following school year) while Shep is at a workshop aka sensitivity training. Alli, KC, and Clare are called to the MI room where Conner is there. He apologizes to Alli for hitting him.KC asks what it’s like with Asperges and Conner says he’s relieved he’s not a freak now that he knows what’s wrong with him.
