7x23 If This Is It recap

Jimmy and Spinner are in science class and they have a choice do the written test or do a physical project. Spinner needs to ace the test or he won’t pass the class and graduate. Jimmy asks if they can do the project together so Spinner can pass and its green lit. Oh and Spinner is getting his final test results after school about his cancer.

WHAEVER IT TAKES

Spinner runs down the halls and finds Jane with the news that he’s in remission. He comments how he met her when he was at his lowest and she was his light. Jane is ready to celebrate but Spinner tells him he needs to focus on his exam project first then after he graduates they can celebrate. However his remission isn’t the only big news. Peter comes over saying how Studz has gone viral and is going to be playing at some battle of the blogs band contest or something. (Insert the Rapunzel BEST DAY EVER GIF)

Emma and Manny have their Smithdale letters and they are both in. Emma looks over the residence applications and Manny tells her that they need to send it in ASAP to assure them being roommates (which is a whole plot next season….just saying)

Spinner tells Jimmy about his remission and Jimmy accidentally drops his phone into a urinal. Spinner fishes it out for him.

Manny gives her dad her cheer uniforms to dry-clean and his dad told her that Bernice called about an audition. Manny doesn’t care she got into Smithdale’s elite program.

Peter tells Spinner the show for Studz is the following night so they need to have an emergency practice. Johnny, Bruce, and Lucas tell them they know they are Studz and they were the ones who voted them into the showcase.

Manny goes to the West Drive audition anyways. They ask if she’s okay with location shoots on the beach, sharing a place with her hot male co-star, and giving up the next eight months of her life minimum which would mean deferring or dropping out altogether. She says yes to all the questions and is told she has a wardrobe fitting in the morning.

Jimmy asks Spinner where he was the night before cause they were supposed to work on the bridge for science. Spinner forgot and tells Jimmy he’s doing great by himself….keyword by himself….if Spinner doesn’t do the work his name isn’t going on the project. He and Jimmy get in a fight.

Spinner gives Jane a backstage pass but she can’t come because she’s got to study. She asks how the bridge is going and he tells her about the fight he had with Jimmy and that he’ll just flunk and spend Senior Year with her. Jane says no cause she won’t date a failure and that Spinner better study for the written.

Emma’s filling out the roommate forms saying that she put down a quad as a second choice (again with the foreshadow) she’s glad she’ll have Manny cause Damian is going to Banting. Manny asks if they are breaking up and she doesn’t know but things are changing and she’s glad Manny is her constant. Manny tells her she’s having second thoughts because she got a job offer to be on West Drive.

Spinner is trying to study but his ADD is getting the better of him and he ends up at the showcase where it turns out that the boys voted them in as a joke.

Manny is having her fitting and she’s worried nervous about getting changed in public backstage. She mentions how she’s giving up Smithdale and the lead and costume guy comment how that’s a good school and the lead auditioned multiple times and didn’t get in.

Spinner talks to a guy at the showcase who dropped out of school to play with his band and he’s been doing so for nineteen years. He’s a stoner and pretty much what Spinner would be if he screws up and he gets a wakeup call. The next day Jane asks if he’s studied but it’s clear he hasn’t. He tries to plead with Jimmy but he sees his bridge with an A+ grade. Jimmy tells him it could have been his too. He asks Jimmy to tutor him though it’s too late the exam stars in a few minutes and he needs something. Jimmy tells him ‘When In Doubt Pick C’ (which is so my philosophy) then wheels off.

Emma comments about Manny picking the show over school. Her dad comes with the cleaned uniforms and asks him if she’s making the right choice. He for once doesn’t sham her acting dreams and tells her instead that’s her passion and that the only wrong choice is indecision and she needs to listen to her heart.

Spinner is taking the exam picking C for everything as he keeps getting visions of him as the burnout from the show. He can’t concentrate however he’s saved as the fire alarm goes off and so do the sprinklers in the gym ruining all the exams.

Emma tells her she was just mailing out her residence hall application and Manny rips it up and has Emma rip her contract. Manny is going to Smithdale.

They are doing a hand check because when false alarms are pulled a purple dye shows up on hands. Jimmy shows Spinner his driving gloves that are dyed. He did it for Spinner so that he has four more days to study and Jimmy is going to be his guide.
