7x20 Ladies Night recap

Degrassi is hosting some kind of fast/lock in for Free The Children and if you listen closely you can hear the same African/Lion King-esque stalk music from season three. Anyway Anya is the one who has organized the event. She welcomes everyone to the event and tells them that Studz will be playing. The event coordinator tells them to finish with their pancakes because there are only seconds left before the twenty four hour fast begins. Now before you say that’s irrational and unhealthy just know that in many customs people fast for that long (sometimes even longer) for various religious celebrations. Anyway Anya is nervous about the event and wants it to go smoothly. Holly J comments that she isn’t going to boil everyone’s water because it’s already clean cause they aren’t actually in a third world country and she calls Anya a Diva and Attention Whore…..um Holly J….Anya is TRYING to do a good thing here. She tells Holly J how Sav rand this fast last year and she knows what she’s doing. Anya then suggests Sav help Holly J with the water to get to know her better

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Eighteen Hours remain and Anya is reading letters from members of third world countries over the school feeds. Sav tells Holly J they should be friends for Anya’s sake and Holly J suggests they share secrets. Sav tells Holly J he’s in Studz. Holly J tells him how she’s always in Heather’s shadow and she sometimes feels like a failer. Sav tells her she’s not a failure she’s a spitfire. Holly J tells her that he can see why Anya likes him. He then admits to Holly J about his arranged marriage which so comes back to bite his ass.

Jay and Manny are looking at his moms ring through the pawn shop window. Jay is still upset about how she hawked the ring for tickets because he feels like he failed his mom. Manny tells him they should talk to the Pawn broker but Jay says they have a better chance of stealing it. Manny stops him telling him that is an old Jay thing to do. He, Manny, Emma, and Damian are now at an auction house where the Malta ticket is up for auction. Jay comments that the tickets are worth two grand not five hundred dollars. He wants them back but the auction is in progress and they go for five fifty.

Holly J tells Anya how Sav isn’t so bad. She comments that he’s full of surprises. Anya comments about one day Holly J will find a guy and she can bring him to their wedding. Holly J tells her she didn’t want to say this cause Sav told her in confidence but….(she tells him about the marriage off screen)

Jay gets the money and Manny tells him to stop acting like a baby. He wants her to stop acting like his mom and they have a lovers spat ending with Manny storming out of the auction house.

Anya is pissed that Sav didn’t tell her. Sav tells her she has to meet the girl like a blind date. It’s complicated but when the time comes he’ll fight for her. Anya can’t believe Holly J would use that to try to break them up and this means war. She tells Holly J she’s a good friend for telling her about Sav and she’s a mess cause of the hunger. She pulls out a cookie from her bag and Holly J eats it. With fifteen hours to go Holly J’s transgression is broadcast for the school to see. Ten hours left and it’s stated it’s almost midnight. Derek makes a comment that he’s hungry. The next scene however the clock on the wall says there are twelve hours to go (continuity fail) and Studz are about to go on…..but first (said in my Julie Chen voice) a report from the water team. Holly J comes on stage and is being heckled and called the cookie monster. Holly J can’t believe Anya backstabbed her. The band comes on singing ‘Holly J Sucks’ Holly J is mad because Anya made her look like she didn’t care. Holly J tells Anya she will NOT like her as an enemy and Anya finally gets a backbone saying how she was never really a friend to begin with.

Jay breaks into the pawn shop and steals the ring.

Anya wakes everyone up to get back to work and Danny and Derek are wining because if they can’t eat they want to sleep. Anya says that if they don’t corporate she’ll tell the whole school about their early AM stiffness….wow….Sav wants to know what’s up with the rage. Darcy then tells here there is something Anya needs to see. Pizzas have been delivered to the school care of Holly J and everyone is eating up. The organizer asks what’s going on because there are four more hours left.

Jay reads an apology letter to Manny telling her how he’ll do anything for her. He then gives her back the ring. He just got it. She admits he freaked her out and thought the old Jay was coming back. She comments that you can’t just flick a switch and fall out of love and yea….Manny….you’ve yet to hear that memantic moment from season eleven. DID YOU FLICK A SWITCH AND ERACE ME FROM YOUR MEMORY!!!! Sorry had to do that. Jay tells her to listen to her heart because he needs her. They leave the Dot and Manny passes the pawn shop and sees it’s broken into.

Holly J tells Anya (who it’s interesting to observe no longer has her hair up in a high pony like Holly J’s) that she still raised tons of money. Anya tells her she wanted to do something and feel good for a change and asks why Holly J can’t stand to see her happy and asks why she treats her like dirt. Holly J tells her because she lets her.

Jay gets Manny her coffee and she’s wearing a fake ring. She hands Jay his STOLEN ring. Breaking and entering is criminal and wrong and it’s not what she fell in love with….she calls him hopeless and he calls her a bitch and they break it off (though not for good in fact they are members of the endgamers club)

New Day New Week New Holly J however Anya wants to be left alone. Holly J tells her she’s wants to help her clean up but Anya doesn’t want to be friends. Holly J tells Anya without her she has no friends and Anya informs Holly J she brought it on herself.
