The café is still crowded due to the merger. Jimmy asks why
they are all chaotic all the time. Spinner doesn’t know there are perks about
Lakehurst….. Like Jane. It’s Anarchy around school and they comment how they
wish they had political spearheads like Rudy Giuliani
or George W Bush to help with the chaos. You can tell this and past seasons
where people like Bush were brought up over whoever the Prime Minister or
President or whoever is in charge of Canada that the show is beginning to skew
more into being Americanized which both has it’s perks and it’s downfalls but
we won’t go into that topic unless any readers wish to discuss in comments.
Anyway Spinner decides to take matters into his own hands and steps in between
Bruce, Johnny, and Lucas telling them how he’d like them to stop. Johnny throws
a punch but Spinner’s super hero like reflexes grab the fist and he’s met with
a rounding applause.
WHATEVER IT TAKERS
Ashley and Jimmy comment about what he did and bring up the
fact that his career aptitude test did say he should be a cop. Spinner reminds
them it also said he should be a clown and at least he has options. His friends
leave however before he can follow Miss H pulls him aside reminding him about
the schools zero tolerance violence policy. She appreciates he wants to take
charge but there are other ways to do it and tells him that he should go to the
piece committee meeting. Jane is walking by late for class and Spinner tells
Miss H she’s going to join the committee. It beats detention plus it’s a way
that Spinner can get to know his crush.
Darcy brings flowers for the councilor. She wants to end her
sessions as it’s cutting into her study time and she’s gotten past cutting her
wrists. She was just sad and she’s no cutter and it wasn’t a suicide attempt
she swears. The councilor tells her they can cut her sessions to one lunch
meeting a week.
Jimmy and Spinner ate in the gym and soon Spinner’s groin is
pulled. Jimmy asks if he can help but not in that place. Spinner thinks it’s a
case of blue balls and he needs to fuck Jane.
Darcy tells Peter she’s done with her appointments because
she just wants to forget and move on with her life and boyfriend and classes
and just be normal.
The piece committee meeting. Liberty is reading minutes and
Jane and Spinner are sitting there bored. Jane says why talk when we should do
something. Derek peeks his head into the room because Danny is in a fight.
Danny and Lucas are fighting because Lucas said that the kid who died (JT)
asked for it. Liberty then goes at Lucas and Spinner pulls him off however his
groin pulls again. Lucas then starts to head but him however before they fight
Jimmy tells them Miss H is coming and they break it up.
Jimmy tells Spinner there is something wrong and it’s not
blue balls. He’s had blue balls or rather erectile dysfunction and he can tell
that’s not what Spinner has. Spinner’s scared of hospitals cause of what
happened to his dad. (His dad died of cancer and with this little tidbit it
makes me wonder why not and what if we had Spinner end up with Terri in the
earlier years since they both lost a parent to cancer.)
The grade elevens are having a test in Simpson’s class.
Danny and Derek are whispering and Darcy is telling them to shhhh. Simpson calls
the three of them out for disruption and tells them they are going to get
points docked and detention. Darcy tries to explain that she was just telling
the boys to shh and when she’s still going to get the detention she makes a
comment that leads her to the office.
Spinner is at the doctor getting checked out. He gets a bit
apprehensive when the female doc grabs for his balls but he lets her cause it’s
her job. She asks how long he’s had a lump. He didn’t know he had one and she explains
it could be a tumor. The next day Jimmy asks what happened. Spinner tries to
deflect it but then admits that she told him there is a slight possibility that
it’s cancer of the nuts. Jimmy assures him it’s probably not cause who gets cancer
at eighteen anyway (Clare Edwards….spoilers). There is an almost Spinner/Johnny
confrontation but Jimmy stops them. He doesn’t want Spinner to be expelled and
wants him to graduate with him.
Danny, Derek, and Darcy are serving detention by washing
windows. Darcy tells Simpson that if the councilor knows she’s in detention
than she’ll have to go back to her old sessions. She tries to get Simpson to
like and tell her that it was voluntary but he doesn’t and she storms out.
Spinner and Jane are playing pool at the Lakehurst hangout
and are all flirty. She asks him how he likes her nose ring and he soon starts
feeling crampy and fleas.
The next day, Jimmy and Spinner are working on making signs
for some unity thing and Jane walks in trying to avoid Spinner. Jimmy is
surprised that things didn’t work out cause Jane is pretty much Spinner with
tits. Spinner tells him he’s just been freaking out over the possibility of
having cancer. The doctor calls and Spinner tells Jimmy he can’t have it. That’s
how his dad died though his was lung cancer and he says it’s a death sentence.
Darcy apologizes to Simpson….no she’s not sorry because now
she’s back in counseling three days a week and she hates it. She hates the way
the councilor is trying to pry it out of her. She then admits to Simpson she’d
been raped.
The doctor wants to start with the good news. They caught it
early. He has testicular cancer and she’s telling him how it’s the most
treatable cancer with a 99% survival rate and is going on about what comes
next.
Simpson tells Darcy she needs to tell the councilor but she’s
just not ready. He nods and asks if he can sit. He is sorry for being harsh on
her and Darcy tells him that he’s the first person not to treat her like some
rag doll. He asks who else knows and she tells him Manny and Peter do. He tells
her he’s here for her whatever she needs.
Spinner shows up at school and confronts Johnny who is off
taunting the usual suspects and he ends up sucker punching him……to be
continued.
The episode starts out like it’s going to be a huge fight
but instead it’s a fake out. Its a few days later and they are just finishing
up from playing the unity dodge ball game. Jimmy asks if he ever called the
doctor back and Spinner nods saying yea he has cancer and he’s going to see
what his treatment options are after school.
I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH
Miss H thanks everyone for making the games a success
especially Spinner. Danny and Derek show Spinner the video of a few days ago
when he sucker punched Johnny. Spinner wants it gone but the boys tell him it’s
already viral on My Room. He’s looking on the site and Jane wants to know why
after the pool date he avoided her. He tells her he has some guy issues and
they shouldn’t start seeing one another. She tells him if this is about Johnny
she believes he got what he deserved but whatever.
Ellie and Jesse are going to some talk on campus and Marco
asks if can tag along. Griffin then shows up asking Marco what shirt he should
wear to the club. Paige may be the fashionista but Marco has style. Griffin
asks him what he’s doing. He’s just playing soduku. Griffin asks if he wants to
play wingman because gay dudes are chick bait.
Jimmy approaches Jimmy telling Spinner it’s not a death
sentence and that he’s really not going to fight Johnny. The video says
Degrassi vs. Lakehurst and he thought Spinner wanted unity. He then reminds him
how fighting with Rick caused him to be in the chair. Spinner takes Jimmy’s
word and tells Johnny that he’s over fighting. Johnny says it’s all about
putting on a show and that if Spinner’s ever in the mood Bruce would like a
shot.
Spinner goes to the doctor who says he’d like to first
remove his testicle. His mom asks if he’d still be able to give her grandkids someday.
He will be able to still reproduce. And after the surgery he’ll need chemo.
Without treatment he could have only weeks to live and the cancer will spread.
The surgery is scheduled for the next day. Spinner shaves his head into a Mohawk
then shows up in the ally outside the Lakehurst hang out and stays to fight
however he pulls himself again and crumbles to the ground. The video again goes
viral as Danny and Derek show it to him the next day. Simpson confronts him
telling him how it’s not good for the school to post fighting videos with the
schools name attached and if it’s kept up the cops will be involved. Spinner
goes over to Jane to say hey and Jane tells her she’s getting scared and that
whatever his issues are he’s on his own. He tells her that he has cancer and he’s
getting his balls chopped off after school and so he wants to prove his
manliness.
Griffin again gets his outfit checked by Marco. Marco had a
great time with Griffin and Marco is in like with him even though he is
straight. Ellie and Paige tell him that he’s clingy and needy and needs someone
and should just get a pet. Paige then hands her a flier to some sale that Marco
should take Griffin to.
Spinner shows up saying he’s ready to take on Bruce after
school for the camera.
Jimmy is finishing up coaching when Jane shows up asking if
he’s noticed any weirdness and if he knows about Spinner’s condition. Jimmy
nods and Jane asks if he knows that he’s going to fight Bruce instead of going
to the doctor. Jimmy says Spinner’s a grown ass man and Jane shakes her head
saying that he needs a friend or he’ll die.
Marco shows up to show the flier to Griffin who is busy with
his Engineering buddies. Griffin says they could check up the sale later on and
he’d meet him at home.
Danny and Derek are talking to Spinner about the odds that
Bruce will kick his ass. Jimmy shows up telling Spinner he knows what it’s like
to have his body let him down. He can’t beat cancer with his fists and needs to
be smart and get help.
Griffin shows up asking Marco how the sale was. Marco didn’t
go. Griffin apologizes because he met some girl and he tells Marco that he’s
not his friend he’s just his roommate.
Spinner does the right thing opening his eyes. His mom says
it’s after midnight and he’s been asleep for hours and the doctors gave them a
doggy bag with his balls.
Paige asks Marco where everyone is. Ellie’s with Jesse….Griffin
is wherever. She tells him it’s okay to be single and he nods however he’s got
a new friend. He followed the girl’s advice and got himself a pet a cute little
bunny named hip hop.
Spinner shows up at school wanting to talk to Jane. He tells
her from now on there is only one thing he’ll be fighting….cancer. He’s trying
to take in as much school as he can before chemo knocks him out.
