Paige is over at Alex’s house when there is a knock on the
door. Her mom’s boyfriend Chad is getting arrested for credit card fraud. Alex
tells her that she should go.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Alex’s mom comes home after an all-nighter at the police
station. The big raise he talked about was a lie…he’s been fired and was buying
stuff with stolen cards. Alex tells her mom they can just return everything and
be done however it’s not that easy. Her mom took out a card in his name and so
now she’s in the whole six grand! Since it’s her card it’s her problem so now
she can’t use it and she needed the card to pay bills.
Manny is freaking out about her exams and needs to pass so
she can be Emma’s roommate. Emma comments that maybe she’ll be living off
campus with Sean. Manny tells Emma she’s seventeen and has her entire life to
shack up with Sean.
Paige shows up at the mall where Alex is working at the
theater again. She tells Paige that her mom needs the money because Chad stole
from her too. Paige asks how Carla is doing and Alex tells them they broke up
and she invites Alex to her housewarming party.
At the party Ellie and Marco are commenting over Paige’s
food and Ellie makes a few snide comments at Paige’s expense. Marco notes Ellie
gave her the green light to date Jesse from the get and they talk about looking
for a new guy for her at the clubs. Alex shows up along with Jay and his new
girlfriend Mel. Mel can get Alex a job. It’s at club Zanzibar totally
respectable bar on one side and a gentlemen’s club on the other. Mel works at
the bar fully clothed which is where Alex would be working too.
Christine asks how Sean is doing at the garage. It’s doing
okay but he can only get so far. Simpson asks why he doesn’t go to a tech school.
Sean’s thought of that but he gets no pay however there is a place he can get
trained and paid….the military and he’s
already signed up and taken his physical. Simpson is excited but Emma is not.
She’s lost her appetite and walks off.
Alex gets the job at the bar. The creepy owner comes over
toward Alex asking if she would ever audition. On her first day Alex is in awe
about the tips and Mel teases how it’s nothing compared to how much the dancers
make. Alex teases it’s a small price to pay for selling their souls. Mel says
that if you’re so against stripping why are you working there. Alex needs the
money and Mel informs her so do the other girls they just need it more. She
comes home at 2AM and her mom asks if she was working late at the theater. Alex
says she quit and got a new job handing her the tips. Her mom isn’t as happy as
Alex has suspected as she shows her a notice of eviction. They need to make
rent in ten days or they are out since they bounced the past two months’ rent
checks cause of Chad’s credit. She asked for a raise but was denied. The next
day Alex calls Mel over to help her with her stripper moves because she plans
to audition for the main stage because she needs the cash. Mel asks why Alex
can’t get a loan from Paige.
Sean shows up at Degrassi because he wants to talk but Emma
won’t take his calls. He thought she’d be happy for him. Emma knows that he’ll
hate it. The army is all about taking orders and following rules. She’s also
worried Sean will get hurt and she can’t afford it right now.
Paige is quizzing Alex for midterms. Paige tells her that
she broke it off with Jesse as they didn’t have much in common. She tells Alex
how she was supposed to be at Banting and having this glamorous life and yet
she’s in Toronto with Alex and it just seems right. She kisses her and then
Alex shakes her head. She wants Paige to make up her mind about them cause
she’s always opening the door the closing it. Paige just doesn’t know what she
is and Alex tells her she’s bi. Paige is saying that her parents already have
one gay kid and don’t know what another would do to them. And she just dropped
out of university they don’t need to hear another life altering issue of
hers….she’s under so much pressure. Alex has pressure too.
Manny is upset that Sean is joining the great big war
machine and how that is totally ruining her plans with him. Manny asks if
Emma’s okay and she is.
Alex is working at the bar.
Emma calls Sean over cause she needs to tell him something
and she can’t do it over the phone. Sean has a hunch he knows what’s up due to
the way Emma’s been behaving. She’s relapsing. No….it’s not a relapse….she’s
pregnant. Sean asks if they had a test and she says no but they can do it
together.
Alex shows up after work asking if her mom talked to the
landlord about an extension on the rent. She didn’t and her mom asks if they’d
remember them at the shelter.
Emma takes the test and it’s negative. She tells him it’s a
false negative cause it’s just a cheap drug store test and she has all the
symptoms and is days late for her period. She’d never abort but there is
adoption or….Sean stops her telling her to breathe.
Alex is at the bar and she’s about to go up to dance. Mel
tries to talk her out of it telling her it changes you and there is no going back.
Alex replies she’s not going out there Lexticy is……TBC
Alex is coming off the stage after her first show. She can’t
believe she crossed over to the dark side. As she’s wallowing in shame…Mel
tells her Paige called. Alex nods telling Mel that this never happened.
Paige comes over to Alex’s with dinner she’s thought about
what Alex said about labels and she tells her that she’s ready to be
girlfriends with Alex. Alex kisses her and the answer is yes.
I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH
Alex’s mom shows up with a bag of irregular cookies that she
brought home from the late shift at the factory. Alex hands her the stripper
money for the rent fund and her mom says how Alex is the one thing she’s done
right. Alex just shakes her head and goes to Degrassi for her midterms though
it’s hard for her to stay up and pay attention cause of her moonlighting as a
stripper.
Sean tells Jay that Emma thinks she’s with child and Jay’s
face I swear lights up like a freaken kid on Christmas I swear to god. He thinks
this is great news this way Sean has Emma on lock and there is no way she’ll
dump his ass. Sean just shakes his head saying that it’s not in the plan. Jay
asks what he means….a wife a kid, a job at the garage and a white picket fence
it’s a dream.
Marco and Ellie are ‘boy hunting’ at a club and Jesse shows
up. Paige gives Alex an end of finals gift,
a sexy red dress. Mel teases that it would be perfect for Alex to wear for
work. Paige doesn’t want feel comfortable with Alex in a parka much less a
skimpy dress. Alex lies saying she’ll quit however as Paige goes to dance and
Alex looks at Jay and Mel saying Paige can never know about the stripping. Jay
says it won’t stay a secret no matter how badly she wants it to be.
Miss H tells Alex people are talking about her……and how her
grades have vastly improved this semester though her O chem exam wasn’t her
best. She suggests that Alex should look into university as there is a plethora
of scholarships.
Sean tells Emma she wants her to keep the baby. Emma asks if
this means he’s changed his mind however Sean is still going to boot camp. He’ll
send money and visit on leave. Emma doesn’t want him to go asking why he should
live his life while she’s a teen mom.
The manager asks why Alex isn’t with the other girls. Alex
says she’s not into the drug parties and he nods calling her smart and
introduces her to a big spender. She asks to go back to being a waitress and he
tells her that he’s planning on giving her plum spots meaning better cash.
Paige shows up to celebrate Alex’s last night in the dump and Mel is telling
her she should leave however before she can Alex or rather Lexticy is being
called to the stage. Paige asks how bad things are that she’s resorted to
selling herself on stage.
Darcy asks Manny and Ellie if she has their vote for ice
queen. Manny nods. She then asks Emma what’s wrong cause their periods used to
be in sync however the other day she asked for a tampon and Emma didn’t have
one. Emma comments about how she thinks that there was a mistake.
One of the big spenders asks to buy Alex a drink and they
talk. She tells him she’s a lesbian and he just wants to talk. She tells him
how her girlfriend wants her to quit and he tells him that it takes a brave person
to do what she does and that if her girlfriend can’t accept it it’s her loss.
Alex confides that she doesn’t want to lose her girlfriend and the man gives
her a wad of cash ‘for her time’
Marco goes to knock on Ellie’s door to wake her up. Ellie
and Jesse are having sex….yea I bet you were rooting for that ship to sink now weren’t
ya.
Alex apologizes to Paige for learning the truth about her
the way she did. Paige nods saying they can celebrate her new job at the
Degrassi dance cause Paige landed Alex a temp job working for her mom. Alex
tells Paige she has a job and that her and her mother are about to be evicted
and she strips cause she has to so she isn’t homeless. Paige doesn’t get why
she does it. Alex has to….. BULLSHIT. Alex is only doing it till things get
better but Paige points out what if it doesn’t. Alex wishes Paige would accept
this but she can’t and they are over.
Emma and Manny tell Christine about the pregnancy scare and
she’s about to take a second test. Emma goes into the bathroom and screams….. It
turns out she was just late due to finals stress and she’s got her period!!!!
Alex is talking to the high paying John again and he invites
her to escort him to Vegas. She casually reminds him that she’s a lesbian and
he tells her to think of it as another job and to name her price. I mean if the
dude knew she was a lesbian and he just wanted to be her friend and sugar daddy
no sex involved I would of said yes. She however slaps him and calls him a pig
then quits.
At the Snow Ball Sean is surprised Emma is there. He asks
why she hasn’t returned his calls and she tells him she got her period. He’s
still going off to the military and from the feel of the conversation they’ve
decided to take a break. Sean and Emma dance.
Alex is packing and she tells her mom she’s looking for
things to sell because she quit her job. Chad’s back because he made bail….her
mom used the stripper money that was for rent to do so. Alex asks her mom if
she knows what she did to get it and tells her that she’s leaving and her mom
is now on her own.
Snow Ball….Toby and Darcy are ice king and queen. Spinner
asks Paige if she’s at the dance alone and she nods. Alex shows up in the red
dress Paige gave her saying that this is her first Degrassi dance. Paige asks
if she should be at work and Alex shakes her head. She’s made allot of mistakes
but if she loses Paige it’ll be the biggest one she’s made. Chad’s back and she
can’t come home. Paige and Alex dance and as he camera pans across the crowd
another season comes to an end.
