Manny is at the airport and is excited. Craig is back in
town for a few days and she’s not seen him in ages and he hardly takes her
calls anymore. They have a moment however soon Craig ushers her to a party that
Ellie and Marco are throwing for him at the University House. At the party Craig sings one of his songs and
Ellie comments on the profoundness of the lyrics and sings some more despite
Manny wanting to spend some one on one time with her boyfriend.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
The following day Craig shows up at Degrassi to apologize to
Manny since he was supposed to help her run lines for her West Drive audition.
They sit outside at the picnic tables running them a bit before Craig whisks
her away. It’s unclear where he’s taking her to said audition or for some
joyride but we don’t see where they go so moving on to the hook of the B plot….at
least the part one B plot.
Isabella is sick and was sent home from Daycare leaving Mia
in a lurch. She has an English presentation and wishes there were a daycare on
campus to take care of her daughter. JT offers to watch Isabella since he has a
free period however he keeps what Mia says to heart.
Craig tells Marco and Ellie how Manny killed at her audition
for West Drive. Ellie comments how West Drive is a woeful teen soap with bad
writing and it’s unclear if this was a jab at the series itself or the teen
dramas on CW (which at this point might of still been WB/UPN not sure) Then
Marco suggests he and Ellie see Saved By The Bell. This is the second time that
show is brought up in this season and makes me think of a comment that one of the
higher ups said about not wanting to be Saved By The Bell and following the
characters into college (which must have been in regards to Holly J’s class)
however it is pretty much this with the new influx being like the New Class complete
with the majority of the characters being shallow expys of previous fan
favorites. And don’t get me started about the Summer Camp/Paris plots that are
shallow attempts at Saved’s Beach Club arch….but back to the episode.
Mia is waiting at the Dot while Liberty approaches her. They
start to talk and the conversation starts being about she had a child and put it up for adoption
and how last year JT sold drugs and tried to kill himself because of the
pressure. Mia ends up walking out and JT shows up at her place asking why she
stood him up. She counters it by asking why he lied to her.
Sean, Emma, and Manny go to Craig’s show however Manny rolls
her eyes at Ellie’s presence. Sure Ellie is there but so isn’t Jesse, Marco,
Spinner, Jimmy and Ashley. Before the show, Manny slips backstage and catches
Craig snorting cocaine. After the show, Marco complements his friend as Ellie
asks if the reason he emailed her about drowning allegories was because he was
writing the song and Craig nods saying just how Ellie gets the music making
Manny feel unsettled. Craig asks if she’s okay however she lies saying she has
an early cheer practice and must go.
JT wants to talk to Mia the following day. He’s sorry and
she tells him how she’s tired and stressed and Isabella is sick again however
today her aunt is taking her in. JT says that he wants to open up an on campus
daycare and Mia laughs saying she wants to be Lindsey Lohan. No Sweetie….like I
told Paige back in season four when she said she wanted to be Lindsey no you
don’t want to be her trust me. JT tells her that the school needs one and not
just the benefit her.
Manny is sad cause West Drive went in a different direction
for the roll and tells Emma that there is something up with Craig. Emma tells
her to take him for his flaws and to fight for him. Manny nods and later confronts
Craig asking why he snorted. Craig tells him that he did it to get a confidence
boost and assures her he’s only snorted twice. She tells him she didn’t get the
part and he invites her to a dinner party Ellie is planning to throw. She
thinks going to Ellie’s will just kick her more when she’s already down since
she always feels stupid around that crowd. Craig outright agrees stating that
Manny isn’t book smart but that doesn’t matter.
JT proposes the daycare to Liberty and student council
however she shoots it down. Liberty tells him he’s only doing it for Mia and it’s
stupid and JT isn’t being serious. JT tells Liberty she won’t give him a chance
to explain himself because she’s being selfish.
At Dinner the talk is way over Manny’s head like she told
Craig it would be and she’s feeling uncomfortable. Manny makes a comment and it
leads to her and Ellie verbally sparring and Manny getting up to leave. She
tells Craig she doesn’t belong and asks for a hit to make her fit in. She and
Craig return to dinner high as kites.
JT asks Liberty again why she just can’t let him be happy
with Mia.
Manny takes the walk of shame from the University House and
Ellie soon after comes into Craig’s room finding the cocaine. She asks about it
and he lies saying its Manny’s and she left it behind…..To Be Continued.
Part two begins as Ellie is walking into the Core office and
tells Jesse about the drugs. Jesse says he could tell Craig was high and she
tells him the drugs were Manny’s. Jesse tells her he’s sure Craig is lying and
they are his but Ellie is done with it but not before giving her an assignment
to interview Taking Back Sunday who are in town.
I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH
Ellie is attempting to interview Craig as he’s packing up
Joey’s garage. He tells her he thought he’d come back and things would be the
same however Joey is selling the house and moving to Calgary and all his
friends are moving on.
Danny, Derek and Toby are walking to school and are cornered
by a crew from Lakehurst. They tell the boys the rival school has declared war
and JT needs to watch his back.
Ellie and Craig meet up with Jesse and the band. Jesse
clearly doesn’t like that Craig has tagged along on Ellie’s assignment. Ellie
introduces Craig to the band who admits that he does a cover of one of their
songs in his set. The band wants to hear Craig’s arrangement despite it taking
up interview time a fact Jesse doesn’t like one bit.
JT and Mia are flirty at lunch and Toby informs JT this
could be his last meal cause Nick from Lakehurst has declared war.
Ellie’s interview is cut short because time is up and Jesse
is pissed and heads to the office. Craig informs Ellie that Adam (the bands
lead singer not to be confused with the main character added in season ten)
invited him to play during the break of their show.
JT goes to Lakehurst asking if this fight is about Mia. They
tell him Mia is a dumb slut and a fight is planned.
Ellie apologizes to Jesse for dragging Craig along and
informs him he’s with Manny when asked. Jesse comments that Craig is needy for
a hit and tells Ellie his ex-best friend was a junkie and Craig totally has all
the signs. Ellie tells him he’s just jealous and they fight.
Manny wants to go out but Craig wants to stay in and party
with the favors he has. Manny dumps him and tells Ellie on the way out that
Craig is a druggie and is all herd. Ellie shakes her head telling Manny she saw
the bag and knows that the cocaine is hers. Manny tells Ellie that drugies lie.
Ellie confronts Craig who comes clean. She tells him to go to group with him.
Derek and Danny are promoting the big fight. Jimmy tells
them that violence isn’t the answer and he and Spinner want no part in things
and neither does Toby.
Craig ends up blowing group off….that is to say he arrives
after the door is closed and he puts his hand on the knob but turns back.
Mia goes to where the fight is supposed to happen and tells
JT that he’s being immature and the fight is off. Nick doesn’t like this and
him and his crew end up jumping Toby.
Backstage at Taking Back Sunday’s show, Ellie tells Craig he
needs to quit or she’ll call Joey and his music career will be over. Craig
tries emotionally manipulating her by telling her he loves her and kisses her.
A High Craig soon goes on stage but ends up with a bloody nose.
Toby with a broken arm and neck brace tells JAT maybe he’s
out of the woods and by beating him Lakehurst got it out of their system and he
makes JT promise not to instigate a retaliation.
Craig ends the episode at the airport much like he started
part one only this time he’s with Ellie. She tells him that Simpson is going to
wait with him to catch a plane to Calgary. He nods telling her that he really
does love her and maybe after rehab they could try to be a couple. Ellie shakes
her head and says goodbye.
