3x22 The Power of Love--recap

As another season comes to a close we get an episode that like more modern episodes has an A-B-C format translation tons of shit goes down.

The episode begins with it being the last day of school and Simpson is watching the students emptying lockers. Jimmy is leaving to go to Basketball Camp in California over the summer though he wishes he didn’t have to as while it’s the best of the best when he signed up for it he didn’t have a girlfriend he’d have to leave behind for the next few months and so he is planning the perfect night for him and his friends complete with a limo and nice pre dance dinner. Meanwhile Paige is celebrating her yearlong banishment to the wasteland (remember episodes one and two?)

The episode opens as Jay and Sean looking at DVD’s and eventually stealing them from a store in the mall causing them to get run down by mall cops.

3x20 I Want Candy -- recap

This is the second 80’s movie reference episode this season however this time the reference is only a sub plot. The movie is Ferris Bueller's day off. This movie is later referenced next season as well.

Episode opens in Science class Miss H is giving a lecture then tells Paige to pick up Ashley’s homework for her as she’s sick….again. Paige nods before saying to Spinner that they should skip the following day.

3x19 It's Raining Men recap

Marco shows Spinner, Paige, and Hazel the poster for the Bollywood Nights Dance. (Told you the Bollywood Obsession would inspire a dance later on). It seems like it’s going to be Team Spage(Spinner +Paige) vs. Team Jazel (Jimmy + Hazel) round two for the crown however Marco’s dad who designed the posters says no Marco is going to be king it’s just a matter of who his lucky lady will be.

3x18 Rock and Roll High School Recap

Jimmy, Spinner and Marco are talking about a new CD that came out when they meet up with Craig in the hall. Craig is looking over the signup sheet for a battle of the bands and he knows that Downtown Sasquatch can win this thing….that is until Ashley and Ellie approach signing up and it’s about to get personal.

Paige’s parents are planning to go away for the weekend and have given her use of the van (so it’s implied that they all must of passed the driving test they were planning to take huh). Terri doesn’t want to go because she doesn’t want to be a fifth wheel and Paige says she won’t but if it worries her then bring someone else.

3x16 Take On Me Recap

This episode is standout to me and not soly because it’s a homage to the seminal 80’s classic The Breakfast Club but because of its format shift. Instead of an A-B plot like every other episode has had this is more a bottle episode with one central plotline the Saturday Detention that Sean received in This Charming Man and Jimmy and Toby received in Accidents Will Happen Part 1.

The episode opens as THE BASKETCASE Ellie is entering the school. Soon she along with the other players CRIMINAL Sean ATHLETE Jimmy NERD Toby and PRINCESS Hazel are in the cafeteria where Raditch is giving them the rules of what they can’t (everything) and can (homework) do for the duration of their service. He’s the eyes and ears of the school and as Sean leaves he burps behind his back and yes he heard that.

3x14/15 Accidents Will Happen RECAP

This is the infamous episode that because of its subject matter. Sure back in White Wedding this topic was mentioned without any issues but with the way America is and still is on the subject of abortion it was initially banned from the air. It did eventually air at least once in a marathon leading up to season six or seven’s premiere and it may still be in the syndication rotation when they air earlier episodes. I will not go into my political views unless someone asks for them in the comments and so without further ado accidents will happen….

The episode opens with Miss H running gymnastic practice as Craig is taking team photos for the yearbook. Kendra excuses herself because she has the stomach flu going around and Craig goes to take Manny’s picture and asks her to smile. She says she can’t around him.

The episode opens as Emma and Chris are in class. Chris asks if Emma’s done the reading assignment for English and Emma nods. Armstrong asks if Emma can do an assignment however she’s distracted by Sean and his new girlfriend Amy getting all handy in the back of the room.

3x11/12 Holiday Recap

It’s right there on the tin. This is a Holiday episode Christmas to be more specific and this is one of the few times aside from a Thanksgiving Dinner gone wrong in season six and a Valentines Episode or two that we have such an episode. There have been a few Holiday themed webisodes including Halloween themed ‘Degrassi of the Dead’ ‘Curse of Degrassi’ and ‘Monster Moon’ and Christmas ones like ‘What if Jay Can’t be Happy’ as well as a Christmas Carol themed one that I believe was called ‘Ghosts of Degrassi’s Past’ but don’t quote me….

This is one of the first so called ‘Movie Special’ and is also going to be a looooooong one to recap since most of it’s about the Manny/Craig/Ashley triangle and the rest is mostly about Joey. I think there is a C plot but I don’t remember and so I’ll just have to watch and see.

The episode begins as Craig, Angela, and Joey are unloading a tree from their van where it then pans to the tree being decorated or almost decorated as the family as well as Joey’s girlfriend, Ashley, Caitlin, and the Simpson-Neilson’s are there decorating. While they are together Manny rings the house and asks if it’s a good time….then she replies oh she’s there and Craig lies to say Spinner we’ll talk later.

WHATEVER IT TAKES (though in some airings the song is cut and at the beginning it just flashes A Degrassi Holiday Special or something like that.

3x10 Never Gonna Give You Up RECAP

I didn’t go off and rant during his first appearance because I wanted to focus on the A plot but I can’t stand Rick at all. Sure in the last episode he showed up he seemed all adorkable and romantic sending the letters to Terri however in this episode and for the remainder of his arch in this and the next season I couldn’t stand him and I think of all the antagonists the series has had he’s the one I loathe the most.

Anyway the episode opens with Rick as well as Terri, Hazel, Jimmy, and Marco in the auditorium as they are doing scene studies and will be doing an original piece by Marco. Marco wants to act so Jimmy is appointed director much to Rick’s dismay. Rick is told he can be stage manager and nods. Terri meanwhile is the lead and doesn’t think she’s good enough despite Rick’s assurance.

3x09 Against All Odds RECAP

The episode opens as Emma enters class and bumps into Sean. There is tension as they look at one another and take a seat. Kwan begins a discussion on Julius Cesar making me wonder if I should have made a Shakespeare Tag instead of just one for Romeo and Juliet mentions and Sean is called on. He comments how the play is irrelevant and a waste of time as Chris soon chimes in giving his two cents on the prose and impressing Emma.

3x08 Whisper To A Scream RECAP

Before I go on I just want to say this episode I know is triggering to allot of people I know and so I will try my best to scale back on the sarcastic jibes that are interlaced with my recaps….

The episode opens with Ellie at a base as her father is being deployed to Afghanistan on a piece keeping mission. Looking over to her mom her dad comments she’ll be fine she has things under control hinting that something isn’t right with her. As Ellie tells her it will be all right her mom coldly tells her to just shut up smile and wave.

3x07 Should I Stay or Should I Go Recap

The episode opens as Craig and Ashley are having a steamy make out break from studying however Ashley pulls back. She asks Craig if he loves her but instead of saying he does he makes a sarcastic jibe at her causing her to sit up saying she needs to do homework and that Spinner gave her a to do list for Paige’s Party that was mentioned back in Pride.

3x06 Gangsta Gangsta RECAP

Episode opens with Sean in his living room channel surfing. He dials Emma’s number and gets her machine. Tracker shows up with his girlfriend and is all PDA. Tracker apologizes saying he thought Sean would be over Emma’s though he hasn’t been there in a month cause of Simpson’s illness. Tracker gives him money to ‘buy him a card’ translation get the frack out so I can have my sexytimes. Sean picks up phone and calls Emma 

again.

3x04/05 Pride Recap

This is an episode with lots going on no matter what way you look at it and I can’t tell you how many times I started and stopped my DVD while I was taking notes for this recap. Also I just want to warn I do use allot of derogative words in regards to gays in this recap though it’s in the context of the episode and honestly whenever I had to type the F word it made me sick.

The episode opens and Marco and Ellie age getting ready to spend Saturday at the beach. As they arrive at the car where the other members of the group are waiting Paige introduces Marco to her brother Dylan (remember the gay brother she mentions as early as season one)

3x03 U Got The Look

If this were an episode of Friends this would be known as the one with Manny’s thong.

The episode opens as the soccer team is coming back from big victory as the team and spirit squad are coming off the bus back at Degrassi. Manny approaches Sully (see told you he’d have a brief arch this season) however she gets rebuffed. Paige informs her that she isn’t sully’s type but she can give Manny a list of guys she’d be totally cute with. Manny doesn’t want to be cute. ‘Bunnies and Puppies are cute’ she laments as Paige suggests that maybe she should change her image.

3x01/02 Father Figure Recap

I just want to say WOW at how much some of the characters changed. Ashley dropped her Goth look and has this new punk/rock style which I loved so much and still do also lots of the boys have fluffy CW/douchebag hair.

The episode begins as Emma is sitting outside reading as Christine yells ‘it’s time’. Soon some Lion King-esque stock music plays in the background as Emma and Simpson run inside thinking she’s about to give birth. It was just a drill and both of them sigh. Apparently she’s been doing these allot as she’s prepping to have a home birth and needs to make sure things are going swimmingly.
