11x44/45 In The Cold Cold Night—RECAP

Wow….one more season down and one complete season to go until we get to the present one.
The finale opens as Fiona asks Imogen if she’s ready to make a move since they’ve been trying to overthrow the student office since the start of the school year (read-mid season) and now that Katie’s gone off the grid thanks to her little pill problem taking reign from Marisol will be a piece of cake. As it is, Marisol is being swarmed by students wanting to get a word in. a freshman says that Katie promised to talk to Simpson about the uniforms and Marisol says and Mo parrots back that she’s not Katie. Fiona and Imogen then saunter in and Fiona comments about how there have been no social activities what-so-ever this school year and winter is coming…. Winter break that is and she has a great idea for an event that will knock everyone’s socks off. Marisol brings up the coffee house and informs Fiona that since Vegas Night and Prom ended in disaster Simpson has banned any nighttime events and tells her personal bouncer Mo to boot them out.

11x42/43 Hollaback Girl—RECAP

The seniors are writing a History exam and Bianca gets done before time is called and begins to sit in Mr. P’s class fileing her nails while Katie comments how she needs to concentrate. Drew lets out a little giggle much to Katie’s dislike however before more happens Bianca is called to the office to meet with a court appointed social worker as part of her probation needing her to be interviewed and to pee in a cup making sure she’s on the up and up.

11x40/41: Smash Into You—Recap

Yea we’re already at episode 40 you’d think this is the end but nope after this pair we still have a whapping four (well two 2-part) episodes to go….. Anyway this episode at least the cold opening gives me chills now thinking of what’s to come.
Dave’s driving the Torres Brothers to school and they are singing along to the radio. While the brothers are singing, Dave’s texting and driving. Drew tells him to stop it because someone could get hurt and Dave apologizes but he keeps checking cause he wants to see if Alli wants help setting up the Model UN meet because while she’s still pissed and not talking to him he wants to prove that he still cares after he cheated. I just also want to point out to the wonderful writing staff who in season 13 PR claimed they’ve never done a Texting while Driving plot……yea…..you did….and a certain someone was a passenger to boot. End rant…. Anyway Dave continues to text and almost runs Alli over as he pulls into the school lot. Turning off the car he apologizes and asks if she got his text. He’s just glad she spoke to him even if it was just yelling ‘Watch It’ as he almost ran her over.

11x38/39 Need You Now RECAP—

Eli’s napping as Imogen is creepily taking pictures of him. He wakes up and she asks him what he was dreaming. He is curious and asks if he was a snorer and Imogen informs him he was simply just a drooler. She’s curious if he always goes to sleep at 9:15 and he says he was just run down by his jog though now that he’s had a power nap he’s wired and invites her to spend the night and watch a movie. Imogen is a bit weary at first but then decides to call her dad and lie saying she’s with Fiona. She is about to make the call when Bullfrog shows up saying how Eli needs to keep up with a sleep schedule to insure his meds work and Imogen leaves. Eli is upset his dad is wanting to parent and cock blocked him by bringing up his bi-polar not that he and Imogen were going to do anything more than see a movie and sleep.

11x36/37 Not Ready To Make Nice—RECAP

Without spoilering Clare’s plot in this episode from the on-set when this episode was in production and behind the scenes twit pics began to surface I was really starting to think that Clare’s plot would have been something else….something that the show hadn’t and still hasn’t tackled before but I really wish it would cause it would be an interesting plot. Anyway at least part two is a Ramona Episode which means it’s bound to be good.

Jake is commenting to Clare at breakfast how they should really coordinate their schedules as to who is running late on which day so they can continue their pattern of avoiding one another cause it’s clear that they aren’t trying to work on the whole sibling thing. Jake comments how Clare is always locked in her room all reclusive and she comments how hard it is now living with two strange men especially when one said man is her ex. She comments about an empty milk carton in the fridge as Glenn steps into the room apologizing that it’s a bad habit and wishing his son a Happy Birthday. Helen didn’t know it was his birthday and we find out he’s only turning 17 yet the last crop of seniors were all turning 18 in their senior year though then again their Birthdays all happened in the latter end of the school year so Jake being the baby of his class would make sense especially if like in parts of the US, Canada had cut off dates for Kindergarten registration. Anyway Glenn asks if Jake plans to invite his ‘new girl’ to dinner causing Clare to roll her eyes as this is the first she’s hearing about it. Jake tells him they are just friends but she’s welcomed all the same.

11x34/35 Can’t Tell Me Nothing—RECAP:

The episode opens as Katie is in a conditioning period for the under eighteen junior national soccer team. Soccer is her lifeblood, her passion; it’s to her what applause is to Tinkerbell she needs it to live….yea I know she told Adam of her journalism dreams last season however apparently that dream is a moot point. She ends up getting too physical and elbows one hard in the jaw. Katie feels bad and wants to apologize however Drew tells her she was just in the way and eyes on the prize if she wants to win.

11x32/33 Underneath It All….. RECAP

Like I said before this season is really disjoined as while the summer arch took place from Spring Break till the end of the year and the fall arch or rather fall ‘special’ took place in the last week of summer break this fourteen episode spring arch takes place from the start of the year till Christmas break…..you heard me….the same timeframe that the 20+ episode ‘Boiling Point’ arch of summer season ten spanned and what this arch brings is allot of plots in such a little time especially since unlike the serialized BP this arch ran on a weekly basis.
The episode opens on the dawning of a new school year as Clare and Jake are texting from the back of Glen’s truck. He asks Jake when he’s going to meet his new girlfriend and he knows there is one due to the smirk on his face and the constant texts since they left the house. Jake just tells his dad to see him later as they head out of the car and when the parental pulls away they steal a kiss.

Marisol observes ewe it’s gross they are step siblings however Katie has more pressing matters to think about aside from Jake and Clare’s incestuous behavior. She has a big welcome back speech to prepare for and thanks to her kid sister Maya she’s running late. I’d like to take a moment and awe at Maya at this moment because while she was one of my favorites between this season and last in the present season she’s what I’d like to call a ho and she’s getting on my nerves cause a dead boyfriend can only justify your actions for so long and I’m getting too ahead. Katie apologizes that she couldn’t get to go to an art school like she wanted but assures the freshman she’ll like Degrassi and make friends in no time.

Fiona is worried that she’s not going to no anyone however it’s her fresh start and she’s going to make it count without being in her brother or Holly J’s shadow. Now all she needs to do is find a clique of her own.

11x30/31 Nowhere To Run RECAP

In Canada I don’t know if it was called its original title ‘Bleeding Love’ or not. Anyway this stand-alone two part episode was meant as a bridge/filler between the summer novella and the back fourteen that hasn’t been set to air until the spring of this season. It was pegged by some as a Halloween episode and while it did air around Halloween time in Canada it didn’t air until mid-November stateside the first time that episodes didn’t sync up across North America since season 9. The feel of this episode is a bit weird and not cause it had the same ‘movie’ cinematography as Hollywood, Manhattan, Spring Fever, and season twelve’s Vegas. Also it was purely coincidental that this episode’s recap would be queued to post on Halloween (okay sure so I doubled up a few episodes to make it so but whatever)

Anyway it all begins on a dark and stormy night…..no seriously it does. Clare’s looking at a dress in her room and letting out a scream. Alli, back from her summer in Ottawa comments saying it’s not THAT bad as Clare brings up it’s not the dress it’s the fact that her mom’s getting married to her exes’ dad in the morning. Alli asks if she’s talked to Jake but he’s gone rogue all summer working as a counselor by his cabin. Clare admits she still has feelings for him but she needs to move on. The girls soon hear a foreboding notice and Alli thinks it’s coming from the closet. There is nothing in there but soon the lights flicker out and they see a mysterious shadow by the door. As the lights return Jake’s there and he wants to talk. He tells Clare he was just there to move things into his new room and he’ll see her at the wedding. Clare tells him the space he gave her was a good thing all things considered and tomorrow is a fresh start between them. Jake leaves the room leaning against the wall with a sigh as he opens up the box in his hand to reveal a bouquet of roses.

WHATEVER IT TAKES (in the initial air there was a special title sequence but here on the DVD we get the new season 11 part 2 sequence….. it’s a bit discombobulated cause it has a mix of old scenes and new which wouldn’t be so bad except the old scenes have students in the polo’s for the grades they were in last year sans Katie and Marisol who are in sport uniforms and Fiona who was retained while the new characters obviously have their new polo’s. It begins with the old Adam and Jake/Alli/Clare scenes, then a new scene with the new freshman Tristan, Maya, Tori, and Zig. Then the KC/Jenna/Ty scene despite them giving the baby up and being splitsville, Katie/Marisol, Imogen/Eli/Fiona, Conner/Wesley (despite Spencer not being on the show due to personal reasons then told they exhausted plots for Wesley and firing him), new scene with Mo and Miss Oh which is pretty much the same as the one with her and Sav in part A, Bianca/Simpson/Owen, and finally Dave and Drew)

11x28/29 Dead and Gone--RECAP

Welcome to the mid-season finale as despite the school year being over there is plenty more to see…sixteen episodes more to be exact. No, we’re not having a summer set arch….that’s saved for the clusterfuck that was the Summer arch of season thirteen….however we do get one episode set at summer’s  end as well as fourteen episodes that take place in the timespan of the entire ‘Boiling Point’ arch of summer season ten….(schools start till just before Christmas break for those who need a breakdown….) We also are candidly introduced to one of the four new freshman this episode…so keep your eyes open.

Class is over and Drew should already be sleeping in….but the new student council president is his girlfriend and this is her first big event so she owes him….it’s worth it….she’s nothing like Bianca and that whole chapter of his life is behind him. He’s with an amazing, smart, beautiful….. ‘Bianca’ Adam calls out. “No I’m with Katie,” Drew replies back however his brother soon points to the girl in question in an alleyway just off campus standing closely with Vince.

11x26/27 Take A Bow--RECAP

First off this episode leaves me with mass confusion ….why is Graduation BEFORE Prom? I’d live with the assumption that with the crackdown and everything that by the time Simpson caved and green lit the event to be off campus this was the earliest they could attain the venue.

Anyway the episode opens as Anya, Fiona, and Holly J are talking about Prom is a few days away….well after grad….well after Holly J and Anya graduate. They end up running into Charlie who invites the trio to her first art show. Holly J asks if Fiona is going to go but she says no things are rather complicated.

11x24/25 Don’t Panic – RECAP

There is something rather eye rolling about this episode and that something is that one of its subplots centers on a school election. I know what you’re saying….this is High School and that’s what they have…all well and good, however remember this school year started all the way back at the start of last season where we ALREADY had the Sav vs. Holly J election. My assumption is cause the current president is a senior and will be gone there is a need to have a new one inducted before he graduates to take care of all the back to school planning.

Katie’s asking Marisol her views on the health initiative that the schools going on cause issues matter if she wants to get votes. Marisol jokes that if she wants to get votes she should wear tighter shirts…..okay….but when all is said and done Katie’s a shoe in as while she’s not unopposed her only competition is Mo. Katie says Mo’s smart and he’s funny and Marisol says yea but he’s fat and their president needs to be aspirational like the picture in Katie’s poster. She also brings up the tight shirts once more as Drew gives them a wave. Marisol can’t believe Drew’s flirting with her and Katie comments how she thought her friend moved past him. Marisol says you never get over an epic crush and could you imagine being held in his strong arms….kissing his lips…. Katie interjects saying Drew and her….Marisol knows…are in Tae Kwon Do together and hopes Katie can put in a good word.

11x22/23 Drop It Like It’s Hot –RECAP

Alternately this episode was called Poker Face at least in initial PR. I have no clue as to why the title changed seeing as how A) the Lady Gaga song by the same name plays in this episode and 2) we have a sub-plot about poker/gambling….

Alli and Dave are texting I love yous and Jenna asks what he thought about her being accepted to the summer long science camp. Alli says she plans on telling him….eventually. Dave then shows up asking how all those late night pillow fights with her new roommate Jenna are going and invites himself over to play cards with her dad.

11x20x21 Extraordinary Machine –RECAP

Bullfrog is driving Eli to school asking if he slept the night before. Eli said he was up late doing revisions. Bullfrog asks how he’s doing emotionally and if Eli needs to see someone to talk. Eli says it’s fine and it’s mostly due in part to Bullfrog giving him the pills or so his dad thinks. As this conversation is going on outside, Clare and Jake are acting all coupley out in the rain. As Eli gets out and walks toward the school he spits his pill into a baggie filled with more discarded ones.

Fade in on Drew in a headlock…has Vince returned? No….he’s in his fight club with Julian, Owen and more athletes. Owen tells them Armstrong is coming. He comes in with Katie reminding the boys that the weight room is co-ed. Katie asks what’s with locking the door and Drew says it’s nothing and she comments that their secret little boys club is cute.

11x16/17 Lose Yourself—RECAP

--

KC’s rocking Ty at Degrassi as Marisol comes over and KC tells her that they need to cool things down at school because Jenna’s in Simpson’s office talking about coming back. Jenna tells him that she can’t because she doesn’t have proper child care. KC suggests that she talks to the moms in her mommy and me group to see how they deal with juggling motherhood and real life. Jenna nods saying one way or another she needs to get back to Degrassi.

11x12/13 Should of Said No RECAP—

From the title I bet you’re wondering if this is another rape based plot….and no it’s not rape based.
Clare’s on her phone talking to Alli about Jake and how he’s tall and drives a truck and is supermegafoxyawsomehot…..okay maybe Clare didn’t use that last word verbatim but come on Jake Martin is supermegafoxyawsomehot as she’s gushing about him she walks into her living room to see Glenn there. Clare is beat red only to be redder when Glenn tells her that he’s in the kitchen and she walks in on him shirtless. She’s in a rambling speechless mode and you can just feel the chemistry between the characters….even though this is just a midgame….

11x10/11 Paper Planes RECAP

Anya is out with Owen at a club. She’s not feeling things however when Owen offers to take her home she says she doesn’t want to leave. The mandatory graduate exit meeting with Simpson is tomorrow and if she doesn’t tell her parents she failed to get acceptance into her first and only choice school the principal will gladly do it for her. Owen tells her maybe it won’t be so bad but Anya says her mom is her best friend and they tell one another everything. Bianca shows up with a few friends and they ask if Anya and Owen are interested in snorting a line. Anya asks if Owen has ever tried and he says no and he’s not going to cause he’s got an early hockey practice however Anya asks if it’s okay if she tries. Owen says he’s not her mom and she can do what she wants and so she trips out.

He says no sweat and he’ll give her an interview. Adam says that went well thanks to his pills. Adam asks what’s wrong and Eli says there hasn’t yet been an official diagnosis…anyway he can get over Clare and will do so with the play.

11x06/7 Cry Me a River RECAP

Degrassi’s launching a new radio station and Sav is announcing how they are in the final stages of selecting a new DJ. Sadie asks Dave if Sav’s heard his demo and he said he sent it in but knows that he’s going to get it. Dave goes to talk to Sav as Adam shows up. Dave asks if Adam’s there to help with tech stuff however he’s sent in a demo real of his own….’The Man Show’ with Adam Torres. This causes Dave to roll his eyes because his submission was for a ‘Man Hour’ as well making Sav’s world rather difficult as both reels were good. He says that he’s going to let the school decide by doing an on air debate….may the best man win.
