14x13 Watch Out Now

So now we’re at the opener of the final televised arch of the series  meaning there are 12 more episodes + the ‘don’t look back’ TV movie that sets the stage for the Netflix next class continuation

Jack and Imogen are making out in front of the school and Becky comments about how it’s too early for PDA however it’s only a few weeks till graduation and Imogen wants to make it count…plus the fact that Jack has detention afterschool till the end of the year which Becky points out she deserved due to the Degrassi nudes issue. They comment how they hadn’t seen Becky all during the extra break they got while the fire damage was repaired and she says that she was with Jonah they were just writing songs…okay sure, she has a crush but she just broke up with Drew and it’s complicated. Jonah appears and Imogen and Jack make goo goo eyes at him. The quad go into the school as Drew and Clare collect cellphones which are no longer allowed on school property . Clare and Drew inform the group that security cameras are also being installed as part of the new principal’s crackdown…hey at least no uniforms this time right….Simpson has been put on leave and we meet Miss Pill who wants to make the school a safe space and says she is banning any and all PDA.  Jack says this is all 1984 ‘Big Brother’ crazy while I’m getting total Umbrage vibes. Pill says all extra-curricular must be approved by her and council and Imogen is upset her final days at Degrassi are under a factious regime. Becky says rules are important and walks off while Jack and Imogen candidly call out Becky’s feelings for Drew and Jonah between themselves.

14x10 Hero Vs Villian

With their win at the Semi's, Power Cheer is practicing for the finals when Simpson comes in to speak to them. He asks if any of them have heard about Degrassi Nudes and that he's holding a school wide assembly to talk to the school about it. Playing dumb, Zoe offers to speak as she has had experience with nudes being distributed of her last season...er...semester. The squad is freaking out however Zoe is chill...they will WIN at Semi's and she knows Hunter won't out them by name as they will out his comic plus her speech will throw people off their sent after all she's a brilliant actress and she can work a room.

14x09 Somethings Got To Give

So for some reason as I was posting episodes 11-13 I noticed I skipped this one so time to jump back.

Imogen is looking at track uniforms saying to Jack and Winston how fashion is her fallback when she has nothing to say on DTV. She hears Hunter snickering and asks what is up. Hunter wants her to settle a bet and asks if the boobs he got sent were hers. Imogen is SHOCKED and Jack says they aren’t hers. Imogen finds out about Degrassi Nudes and is disgusted. Imogen plans to get to the bottom of it and Jack and Winston try to stop…Jack because she’s doing it and Winston because he knows the girls are doing it.

14x08: Hush

Once again for the third episode in a row the sub plot is about how depressed Miles has become...and the character arch keeps dragging and dragging. The opening scene is Frankie and Hunter waking a sleeping and presumably stoned or hung over Miles saying that he needed to drive them to school. Frankie calls him out asking if he's moody cause Tristan is mad or hung over he says he's just tired. Miles Jr soon comes in and snaps at his eldest saying to get over it. He relents and gets up as Frankie grabs his stash of pot...she'll give it back if he promises not to light up until after they get to school.

14x07 I'll Be Missing You

Power Cheer is holding its THIRD bake sale of the month to earn money as the team has a rather expensive upkeep though it's really a front so that nobody knows that they really are getting money from Degrassi nudes. It's also Zoe's Birthday and as Shay and Jack surprise her with a cupcake presumably bought from the squad's own sale Zoe gets a package. Thinking it's from Zig who she's been crushing on she opens it to find a doll that says 'I know about Degrassi Nudes' rather Pretty Little Liars of the sender

14x05 THERE'S YOUR TROUBLE

The episode opens on an establishing shot of the school steps and Becky and Mrs. Baker are pulling up. Mommy Baker says she knows the Luke situation has been making it hard on Becky and she's been handling it with grace however Luke isn't taking it well and she thinks Becky should visit Luke in juvie...Becky says she has band practice and has no time.

14x03 IF YOU COULD SEE

Winston is raising his eyes at Frankie who wants to 'Wax Drew's Chest' as a Power Cheer Fundraiser. She has a list of other ideas but Winston has only one idea to make out with her. He starts to unzip her jacket to get a glimpse of her cleavage after all he's a guy and they are programmed for boobs however while Frankie likes him she doesn't know if she's ready. They have been dating for one month two weeks and four days and she's not ready to round the bases especially when her parents could catch them in a compromising position. Winston then playfully removes his shirt and proceeds to hover over Frankie tickling her prompting Hunter to catch their moment of intimacy followed by Miles and then their mother. Frankie promises it's NOT what it looks like and Winston leaves. Mother tells Frankie no more boys in her room... Frankie asks WHY...after all she is fourteen and Miles has done way more. Mother says it's cause Miles can't get pregnant and Frankie says she can't either cause she doesn't plan on actually having sex.

14x02 WISE UP

Hunter is quizzing Miles on traffic procedures as he's about to take his road test his mother comments that she wished he focused on his actual school work the way he is focused on this. Frankie then walks in saying that she'd be surprised if the dad lets him take it as she tosses him the daily paper. He did that interview with the reporter and to quote Frankie made their dad look 'like a Batman Villain Who Hates His Gay Son'. Daddy Hollingsworth walks in wanting to talk to Miles and the mom ushers out the twins embarrassingly calling them her 'peanuts'. Miles's dad tells him he's not going to school that day and hands him golf clubs...he has a day off and wants to spend a father son day...they can golf...miles can even drive and he accepts him gay...straight...whatever...

14x01 Smells Like Teen Spirit

As promised I've pulled up the season on Youtube and have started to slowly but surely finish up my recap project as I want to be a competitionist damn it!

So all I remember from season 13 is that it was long and draggy and ended on the cliffhanger that our beloved Clare is preggers....

So the episode begins as the school is being evacuated due to a fire (why not...just why not the damn school is freaking cursed) and Miles and others are looking anxiously for Frankie...

HOWEVER we don't know if they find her yet as it flashes back to 10 weeks earlier and Becky is in front of the school which is still recovering from the hurricane damages (cursed I tell you!) handing out flyers for Power Cheer and to parallel the cold opening is also looking for Frankie who she hears is an ace tumbler. Drew comments that the school has a Cheer squad already however according to Becky this is not the same thing as Power Squad but it's an actual competitive sport. Zoe and Tristan show interest however Becky informs Tristan it's girls only. The underclassman head in the school as Alli and Dallas head out... it's the beginning on their final quarter of senior year...FINALLY. Alli is looking for Clare but she's MIA...she and Dallas leave and Drew tells Becky he's sure Clare doesn't care about them (I forgot Drecky were a thing for a moment) Becky however isn't being bummed about Clare knowing about them she's more worried cause Power Cheer is HER fresh start and if Zoe is on the team it will keep her from moving past the fact her brother raped the underclassman. Drew tells her to just not let Zoe join..as President he decrees their last term be awesome just as soon as he finds his VP. His VP AKA

Clare is in the ladies room suffering from a bout of morning sickness when Alli comes in...Alli asks if it's the Flu and Clare says she at a bad breakfast burrito...Alli teases saying is she sure it's not morning sickness and Clare all but admits she's knocked up...and it's most likely Drew's put she's getting an abortion she's already decided and picks up the phone to call the clinic... WHOA...again...a total 180 of her character from the early years.

13x38/39 Thunderstruck

Finally the season finale. This was a one hour action pack event let me tell you. The episode opens with foreboding and foreshadowing shots of natural disasters as Imogen is giving a report on Global Warming. Dallas comments that nothing like that would ever happen in Toronto and even after Imogen points out that the weather channel says that a system is brewing he claims it’s more likely to hit New York or New Brunswick. It’s apparently the end of term (how freaking long are terms in-verse…cause like didn’t just a few episodes a term/semester started and the activities fair is what inspired Maya to do the arts night?) Anyway Drew and his council company are going to now set their sights on the end of term dance. Becky wants to know about when the dance is supposed to end and it’s known that things have been a bit tense in the Baker home since Luke got sentenced to two years in jail. Imogen decides to cheer her up with Mambo #5 which causes Becky to burst out in tears and leave the room. Drew being Drew follows her and Dallas comments about how Drew is just friends with a girl to whom Imogen teases how he believes that but not global warming.

13x36/37 Believe

Another two parter which much like the 13c finale Sparks Fly aired in 2 parts however least you think because of that than this is the finale… nope…there is one more 2 part/hour long episode to go after this.

I just want to point out how much I love that the title of this mirrors Unbelievable from last arch as it gives a sense of closure to that episodes main plot and is a nice book end to things. Unlike that episode this aired in its original time slot however it did have a PSA warning about sexual content and darker subject matters.

Zig’s phone is buzzing as Grace shows up late for school. Zig is wondering where she was because they have an assignment to do and she comments about the media circus outside.

Winston is talking to Miles about Maya and whatever drama is going on as Maya looks at her phone (is she in a normal homeroom again or is this already a later period since it was established Grace was late…confused) Maya comments about how Zig just texted her and Miles makes a comment about how somebody always seems to be in trouble and Maya nods…’yea, Zoe.’

Zoe meanwhile is auditioning for Wicked and is singing Defying Gravity. Maya walks into the auditorium and Tristan tells her she’s still dead to him however she tells him it’s not the time and starts to talk to him about the media for Zoe. Zoe finishes and tells Maya while she loves her she needs to practice for her audition and they tell her about the press. Zoe heads outside to talk to the press and tells them the boys are guilty and she plans to prove it

12x32 How Bizarre||

Drew and Dallas are pitching a party planning company for what looks like economics class. Proposals are due next week and Drew is a bit spacey as Mr. Hollingsworth has been working him to the bone. He needs a night off but Dallas already has big plans with Alli, Jenna, and Connor…Drew was left out cause Alli and Jenna are pissed that Drew ‘tailed and bailed’ and Dallas is just playing the Switzerland card. Drew asks him what about the code, bros before….nice girls. Dallas says Drew is his bro but he doesn’t kiss him like Alli does. Drew teasingly starts to go in for a smooch before laughing and being upset that Clare is effing his life up this close to graduation. He doesn’t want to apologize but he does want to have a mature conversation with her.

Maya is helping Zig  fake sick so Margaret will let him stay home from school because the gang is pissed that he skipped out the night before. Maya needs to go and Zig tells her he will send over the files for the panorama programs later on

13x30 You Are Not Alone

Welcome to the final stretch of the season that does not end. Seriously season 13 started summer 2013 and it’s now summer 2014 though it was productions choice to do a summer set arch instead of a novella AFTER a 40 episode order was made so….at least season 14 is back to basics with I believe 28 episodes so I’d expect the blocks to be a third of the season to air in either 3 arcs (with an Oct, Jan/Feb, and June/July start date) or two arcs (Oct and Jan/Feb with season 15 if we have one possibly going back to Novella format)

Anyway…

It’s apparently a new season/semester (I’m going to go with season and that it’s Spring since setting wise it’s late February/Early March in-verse) and Maya, Grace and Zig are walking into a school activity fair. Maya’s excited suggesting to them to join show choir (glee reference anyone) however Zig and Grace say even if they wanted to join a club nobody would accept them due to their reputations (as seen when Grace looks at the film society booth with a slight interest) Maya asks if they could do an activity what would they do and Grace suggests an art festival like Burning Man. Zig is intrigued and Maya says they should totally pitch it to Student Council  and Simpson as a way to show the school the rubber room kids aren’t that bad. Maya asks if Tiny would be interested however he is acting aloof and as they enter the classroom for homeroom they are told Simpson is wanting them to do locker searches.

13x28/29 Sparks Will Fly:

Maya is in the Matlin kitchen opening up a fancy package when Zig walks in and she tries to hide it. She comments about the Stetson he’s wearing and he tells her it’s for Wild West Night before snagging the box and opening it. It’s another lavish gift from Miles despite the fact that they are allegedly over.

13x27 Everything is Everything:

Connor and Dallas are woken up the following morning at the police station. They aren’t in a cell or in cuffs but are just waiting in a waiting area. The cop says that they got a hold of Simpson and the boys story checks out. They are then told that they can pick up the car at the impound lot (where they most likely will have to pay to get it out in addition to paying for the tow and getting to the lot via cab) Dallas tells Connor how Alli can’t know what happened to them.

13x26 Army Of Me

Alli is anxious about the science fair as she’s rattling off figures and there is a little UST between her and Dallas. Jenna tells him to step back at least until after the fair because boys tend to get her distracted. Dallas says if he waited his long one more day shouldn’t matter.

13x24 WHAT IT’S LIKE-

First of all I love after last weeks’ time change that they had to advert that this episode was airing at its ‘regular time’

Anyways, it looks like after last episode Miles and Maya’s relationship status is back together as he’s carrying her over his shoulder down the halls besides a huge ass poster promoting a Sweethearts Semi-Formal. Maya needs to work on her rubber room essay cause she doesn’t want to spend any more time there then the daily visits first and last period if she can help it. They are kissing as Tristan says he really doesn’t want to watch them make out. Maya goes into her bag and realizes her laptop is missing, most likely stolen. Tristan says it must be Zig while Maya goes to ask for an extension.

13x22/23 Unbelievable

I’m really hoping that this episode has taped as like I noted back when still doing postmortems this episode aired in the later timeslot of 10pm while my cable guide still listed it airing at 9pm and so I had to tape it when they did a TWEET peat a few nights later so I’m having to view the episode with pop ups and scrolling though I should still be able to recap this VERY SPECIAL Hour long two part episode.

It’s so special that before it airs we get a disclaimer of its graphic nature.

The episode opens as Zoe is waking up in the pool house as Frankie and Hunter arrive to bring her breakfast. She asks why she’s there and Frankie says it’s cause she drank too much at the party the night (and episode) before. She asks what she did and Frankie shows her some pictures of her dancing on tables and stripping.  Frankie comments how she guesses they aren’t singing at the winter WINTER WINTER (never giving up on that weather snark) talent show cause nobody would vote for them now however Zoe brings up how she fell off of a horse at a public event right into some crap and the next week she won a Teen Choice Award so she’s not dropping out after some stupid party.
