The episode opens on the outside of Clare's where Alli is there picking her up for school..placing a kiss on Clare's cheek....is that what platonic friends of the same sex DO in Canada? Clare says Eli is sending her a surprise for getting into Columbia. Alli says that was sweet of Eli considering Clare's OTHER surprise. Clare admits she hasn't dropped the baby bomb on Eli as she doesn't know how to word it, when asked how she told Helen, Clare admits she hasn't told her yet either. Somehow she thinks she can have it all...Columbia, Eli, The Baby she just has to figue her shit out...as she's figuring it out it doesn't take but a hot second to reveal that SURPRISE Eli has come to Toronto for a visit...now Clare needs to tell him before he finds out second hand. Eli's done with his term and is on the lookout for a summer job and to talk about his and Clare's future.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Winston is giddy cause thanks to Miles's car they got lunch off campus. As they arrive back to the class he asks Miles if it's just him or is Frankie off. Miles says Frankie is a fourteen year old girl things are bound to be weird. The teacher tells a lame chemistry pun joke as Tristan heads to Miles and Winston's table calling Boyfriend Dibs as Mile's lab partner leaving Winston to pair with Zoe. Zoe tells Winston that Miles will get bored eventually.
Maya and Grace are arm wrestling in the 'rubber room' as Zig, Tiny and the other classmates are watching. Grace wins and Zig offers to challenger her having Tiny film it for posterity...Grace wins again siting them distracting him as an excuse.
Winston is plotting to break Miles and Tristan up....Zoe tells him but Miles is actually happy then summarizes Winston is gay and crushing on Miles...no...and he's not gay or homophobic he misses his best bro. Zoe tells him to just talk to Miles but first focus on the assignment.
Clare is rehearsing telling Eli about the baby she is having with Drew in the mirror as her cell buzzes as Drew is calling. Helen comes into Clare's room to tell her Audra just called the house...she and Drew are coming over and shit is about to get really real my friends. The doorbell rings and Clare says it's probably Eli...Helen says she'll tell him Clare's sick and Clare says it wouldn't be a total lie.
Zig and Tiny are walking down the hall when Zoe, Lola, and Shay snark in unison that they love Zig's GIF...that's right there is a GIF floating around the internet posted by Tiny of Grace beating Zig. It's gone viral and Zig is PISSED leading him to attack Tiny and land them both in detention.
Helen wonders how her smart talented daughter could get pregnent at seventeen and wonders why she didn't tell her. Clare should NOT have to do this on her own...they are family. Clare says to trust her she has a plan...then the doorbell rings again.. it's the Torres's.
Also side bar... is there a reason why the seniors were not at school or do the plotlines of the episode not line up?
Though, I assume now it's after school and Zig, Maya, Tiny, and Grace are eating puntiene at the Matlin house and Zig asks for a rematch, Grace has a better idea then arm wrestling.
Audra asks how far Clare is and she says nine, she's already considered her options and she's keeping her child. Clare tells the mothers she's still going to New York, she's already looked into family housing. Audra is miffed Clare is planning to take the child out of the country, Drew just wants Clare to be happy, and Helen brings up the fact that it's an Ivy League school and she'll be stressed enough with class and will need family. Clare says Eli would help and Audra then questions the paternity of the child as she's not going to help if it's not even her grandchild. Clare says how a few months ago she didn't even think she could get pregnant cause of the cancer and it may be her one shot. The moms tell her that she needs a new plan in Toronto with familiar support... Drew will get a job and help out when he can, Jake's room will be the nursery...Clare then walks out as it seems life is being planned for her. Drew follows after her asking where she is going. Clare says she's going to Alli's as she's the only person who believes in Clare's plans and calls Drew out for blindsiding her and telling Audra in the first place. Audra caught Drew researching cribs and it all slipped out and he's sorry. Clare says nothing has to change...she's going to New York with Eli and Drew can do his own thing.
Zig asks Grace what her plan is and she tells Zig real men have the pain tolerance to get a home tattoo and shows Zig a tattoo she got on the sly. Tiny agrees to remove the GIF if Zig does it and so he is game.
Speaking of games, Winston and Miles are playing a video game and Winston comments about how Miles and Triston are spending allot of time together...speaking of the devil Tristan shows up and convinces Miles to change the game.
Clare and Drew crash Alli and Dallas's date fighting about the baby and their opinions on things.
Grace tells Zig to lie on the couch so she can do her work...Zig backs down and tells Grace that getting a tattoo to prove he's a man is stupid.
Clare is trying to get a water from the waiter cause Drew wouldn't allow her to snag Alli's coffee but she isn't catching his attention. A young mother offers Clare a glass and Clare asks if motherhood is hard and she gets a reality check. Clare is holding the baby when Eli walks into the Dot asking what's going on and Clare admits she's pregnant.
Tristan and Winston are playing Just Dance and Winston comments about how everything was better before Tristan and Miles dated. He tells Miles they used to be bros and Miles asks if he's more annoyed that Tristan is a HE though not in the homophobic sence but in the he's worried that Tristan will be his BOY FRIEND as well as Boyfriend. Miles assures there is plenty of him to go around and he can have them both in his life.
Eli says how they both had plans and a baby will toss a wrench in them. He has a hot lead on a studio in the village but it would be no place for a baby and WHY didn't Clare tell him sooner. Clare admits it's cause it's Drews and she wanted to tell him in person that they are keeping it. Eli asks what is she with Drew now? Are they going to get married? Clare says she can't imagine a life without Eli and Eli says he doesn't care and walks off leaving Clare to ask Drew what are they going to do now?
