I can’t believe it….we did it….we went full circle as the
first thing posted aside from an intro post about my madding idea to rewatch
and re-cap every episode was the postmortem for this episode when it aired back
in June…..man time flies when we’re having fun….. As for what happens next…..while
I don’t plan on starting a season 13 re-watch until after the completion of 13C
at the latest I may go back and recap some of if not all the webisodes if the
mood strikes me (if nothing else I’ll be commenting on the remainder of Dorm
Life as episodes roll out) …..
Imogen and Eli are making their way toward the Prom venue to
meet Fiona though Imogen seems more flustered than usual. Eli observes that she
still hasn’t opened her final report card. She’s worried cause if she failed
she will have to repeat senior year instead of going off to school with Fiona…..she
failed. Fiona shows up and she hides her card as Fiona opens the door and
reveals the venue all set up…..
WHATEVER IT TAKES (title card)
Mo and Jake are cleaning out their lockers at an empty
Degrassi. Mo is commenting on how weird the school is all empty and Jake just
seems rather emotionally numb. As Katie and Marisol stand to the side giddy
they are graduating but sad cause it’s the last night they’ll have being joined
at the hip before they go their own ways…Mo realizes he needs what the girls
have….unfortunately Jake doesn’t plan on going to the big dance. Mo tells
Marisol he’s upset cause he Jake isn’t going to prom and he wants what she and
Katie have.
Imogen and Fiona are getting ready for Prom and Fiona is all
giddy about how its prom night and graduation is the next day and soon they’ll
be at art school together. Imogen then tells Fiona the harsh truth….she tanked
her last semester not cause she’s an airhead but she didn’t turn anything in….I
assume her mind was wrapped up with her dad but it’s left unsaid. Fiona assures
her it’ll be okay after all she too was a second year senior and besides they’ll
be in the same city and can hang out all the time. There is a noise soon heard
and it turns out Laura is off house arrest and with great news
Clare, Alli, and Jenna are looking for prom dresses though
Clare is meh about going. The girls bring up how Eli and how he keeps texting
her despite being the one who had asked Clare for space to deal with his PTSD
in the first place. Clare has a brief encounter with ‘Cliff Jacobs’ from her
history class a character I wish wasn’t a one-off before the girls go all meta
saying EVERYONE wants Eli and Clare together and they are finalists for Prom
Court….you know….despite Clare is a Junior….Clare tells her friends she and Eli
are never getting back together and asks Cliff out.
Laura tells Fiona that the legal drama is over and their
assets are unfrozen. They are rich again and to top it all off sitting next to
Laura in first class was a famed designer who upon seeing the sketches of Fiona’s
that Laura showed him has offered her an internship in Rome. Fiona and her mom
are gushing all about Italy when just fifteen minutes ago she was all Toronto
and Imogen….things must change when you’re rich. Imogen reminds Fiona its prom
night and Fiona asks if she can table the Rome idea till tomorrow however the
designer is only there one night and he insists Fiona call him.
Clare, Alli and Jenna are getting ready for the dance when
they start gushing about how Cliff is cute and how jealous Eli will be. Clare
asks Alli to zip her up and Alli notices a lump on Clare’s back. Jenna says it might be cancer but Alli who
was researching about cancer thinks it’s probably just a cyst or something and
nothing serious. Glenn calls that Clare’s date is there and she comes
downstairs not to find Cliff but Eli dressed as freaking Prince Charming with a
carriage to boot to prove to Clare they ARE a fairytale. Cliff shows up asking who Eli is informing him
he’s Clare’s date. Eli rebuts saying he’s Clare’s soul mate.
Prom begins and Marisol asks Katie to snap a shot of her and
Mo however Mo’s smile in the shot is fake. She’s pissed and says if he’s not
happy to be there he can just leave. Katie tells Mo it’s Prom and Marisol’s
been thinking about this day since she was a kid. Mo’s about to storm out when
Jake shows up.
Imogen is venting about Fiona going to Rome to Bianca and
Drew. Fiona tells her to chill because the designer will most likely not call
back. Imogen is upset she called him in the first place and Drew and Bianca
escape the drama to dance. Fiona leaves to announce King and Queen and Imogen
waits with the purses and Imogen starts to play with the phone.
Clare is telling Cliff how great he is….how dependable…..how
he didn’t break up with her after saying he was all in. they had a PLAN!!!!! He
was going to go to NYU she’d join him by going to Columbia a year later and bla
bla bla this plan will get rather repetitive……Cliff soon after we find out is
gay and can tell that she’s still in love with her ex.
Eli and Clare win King and Queen and Drew and Bianca look like
they want to cut a bitch. Eli heads on stage but Clare fleas the dance.
Imogen hears Fiona’s phone ringing and tells the designer
that she’s Fiona and she’ll come to a meeting.
Mo and Jake are bro-ing it up stealing desserts and Jake
admits he only came to the dance cause Marisol paid him $50 to be a seat
filler. Mo is pissed.
Imogen shows up to the meeting pretending to be Fiona and
acting like a drunken Prima Dona.
Speaking of drinking, back at the dance the boys are passing
a flask around. Owen comments how Anya the hottest girl in school was his date
and now he can’t even get sup-par ones to say yes….This is Dallas’s last night
of freedom before he’s fulltime dad to Rocky all Summer so can we assume he was
a student at the day camp or did Vanessa deny him rights after all? Regardless
he looks back toward Alli and it’s clear he still likes her. Mo takes a shot as
the titular song of the episode plays. Mo says how Marisol requested the song
so that they could share a moment and brings up how Marisol paid Jake to be
there.
Clare is crying and Eli admits he was messed up after
Campbell’s death and it was wrong for him to push her away. He still loves her
but Brett….you remember the Director from Building a Mystery has given Eli an assistant
job and he leaves for NYC right after graduation and he really wants to leave
on good terms and make this night count cause it’ll be their last for a while.
Imogen apologizes to Fiona for running off her dad sounded
weird. She admits she was jealous about Italy and Fiona thinks it’s most likely
off the table cause the designer didn’t call back. They are about to dance when
Fiona’s phone rings from Imogen’s purse. It’s Laura and Fiona goes to get it.
Eli and Clare share their King and Queen dance and Eli
admits that he had Fiona rig things. Clare asks what kids do at Prom and she
comments that she’s ready for sex.
Imogen tells Drew and Bianca she screwed up but they are too
busy giving one another goo goo eyes. She heads back to Fiona and she’s mad
that Imogen impersonated her and how the designer called her mom and Laura was
looking into rehab cause she thought Fiona had relapsed. They have a fight and
Fiona storms off to the dance floor wanting to have some fun while Imogen is
crying in the coatroom where Eli and Clare are making out talking about moving
it to a room. Eli talks to Imogen and tells her that she should work it out
cause long distance > no girl at all.
Marisol is pissed off that Mo missed their song and got
drunk cause she got Jake there FOR HIM to make him happy. Mo then pukes all
over her.
Eli tells the girls that she and Eli are back together and
plan to have sex and she wants advice.
Jake and Katie are talking about their post grad plans.
Katie is heading to California and will be paying loans into her 40s but it’ll
be worth it while Jake plans to spend his summer mushroom picking in BC and
after that who knows. They then promptly pick up where they left off and begin
making out however Mo interrupts telling them how upset he made Marisol and
Katie side eyes him cause her friend has been planning their special dance for
months. He asks their help in planning a gran romantic gesture for his girl.
Imogen wants to do anything to give Fiona a second chance at
the internship however Fiona says it’s too late…he’s already at the airport and
she wants to enjoy her prom and her last day with her friends before they all
taper off and that she was wrong to think that she and Imogen would work cause
they are so different.
Eli and Clare are in front of the room and Clare worries it
will be a disappointment. He promises it won’t be and tells her if it does go
downhill let her know. They enter the room and it’s filled with candles and
flowers and it’s beautiful and they make love.
Imogen chases down the designer and tells her that she
impersonated Fiona cause she was selfish and didn’t want to lose her in her
life and she was selfish. He can’t talk to her however he tells Imogen to give
him a call.
The morning after Clare and Eli head back to Clare’s in the carriage
and are talking about the night they had and the fact that Eli ships off to New
York in 12 hours. Eli comments on Clare’s blood nose and she tells him it’s
nothing but she knows deep down it’s a sign that she has cancer.
Imogen shows up at the condo however Laura informs her Fiona
is working on her Valedictorian speech…..seriously how the frack is Fiona valedictorian
> Katie or Marisol….just saying…..Imogen tells Laura to pass on the message
that she chased the designer down at the airport and she’s given her a second
chance. Fiona says the year won’t be too bad…..Imogen can fly out whenever she
wants thanks to Fiona’s trust being back intact and then once Imogen graduates
she can go to school in Italy and then they can travel the world together.
Pomp and Circumstance begins to play it’s interesting to
again note no year is given…..In Ray of Light there is a throwaway line in the
yearbook that Frostival was 2011 making this the class of 2012 yet all the
promos and PR said it was class of 2013 thought to be technical without
timeline retcons it SHOULD be class of 2010. Simpson gives a little speech before
calling names.
Clare calls Alli into the ladies room trying to psych her
out to tell her that she doesn’t have cancer. Clare tells Alli that she had a persistent
nose bleed and the doctor wants to take a biopsy and that there is a strong
chance she has leukemia. Alli tells Clare she has nothing to worry about it’s a
probably a scare.
Simpson finishes calling names and soon Fiona gives her speech.
Fiona finishes her speech as the lights go out and a spotlight falls on Mo who
starts singing the titular song to Marisol. Katie and Jake and then soon the
entire senior class join in and I swear if the graduation of the current
seniors of glee isn’t like this (though obviously with a different song as this
was sung sectionals season two) I’ll cry. Mo asks Marisol if he’s forgiven and
she says only if you tell Jake how you really feel. Mo nods and tells Jake to
have a good summer and how he doesn’t want this to be the end of their
friendship. The girls then awe at their boyfriends bromance.
Eli asks Imogen where Clare is cause it’s time to say
goodbye and Imogen nods…. It is and she finds Fiona and tells her that they
need to break up cause they live in two different worlds and she doesn’t want
to hold her back.
Clare, Alli, Jenna, Drew and Dallas are talking about how
hopefully next year there will be no drama….HA….HA….and Dallas asks why Clare’s
sad. Clare says she may have cancer and he thinks it’s a joke. The boys leave
the girls alone and soon Eli shows up to say his goodbyes. He tells Clare she’s
coming with him to throw his cap and that her year will fly by. The seniors all
toss caps as Eli and Clare share one last kiss. …….END SEASON
