12x01/02 Come As You Are RECAP

Okay a quick note….while by the time this post moves from queue to blog I should have season 12 on DVD however until that happens I shall be watching via the DVR not that it makes a difference except now I will have to fast forward those pesky commercials and what not….anyway it’s time for another twenty episode Novella called ‘Showdown’ and it’s interesting to note that episodes for this arch aired at a 10PM timeslot as opposed to the normal 8 or 9 PM slot.

Anyway re-watching Via the DVR there is a nice little recap of major plotlines from the first two seasons pertaining to the main characters who have plots in this episode.

It opens up with the Torres brothers and new student Dallas whom is their ward of sorts showing up at Degrassi for the start of the next term. Dallas is checking out the girls and knows he’s going to like it here as Audra calls out how she and Omar are in Kingston overnight and the boys can have one friend over and that’s it….translation PARTY. Dallas wonders what the big first day assembly is about and Drew says it’s probably all about introducing Dallas and the Ice Hounds the new major junior hockey team now being hosted at Degrassi. Adam thinks it’s about the school closing due to all the drama. Dallas goes to see his team as Dave, Jenna and Alli join them. Dave also thinks the school is going to close and asks why Drew is a sour puss. Adam says how he was supposed to dump Katie but he chickened out. Drew denies it and says how her parents gave him a sweater. They then start talking about all the relationship dramas that have happened as Clare shows up as part of the group. It’s a really cute ensemble scene overall and I wish there were more scenes like this that went on.

The Bell rings and Drew sits beside Bianca at the assembly and she can read Drew and knows that he didn’t do it. He mentions the sweater but Bianca reminds him he promised to wait until she was out of rehab and in a good place to do his dirty work….um if I remember correctly Bianca was the one who was all unselfish and let Drew go to be with Katie so then why is she such a bitch about Krew (Katie + Drew) she changes tone and teases him asking how ugly the sweater is as Katie takes a seat saying how it’s okay if Drew hated it he just has to wear it at every family function. Bianca comments saying how Katie looks to be in a good place and Katie notes she is and thanks Bianca for caring so much.

Simpson comes on stage with some board members. He could have sent this in a letter home but he wanted to do it in person. The school is now uniform free!!!!

WHATEVER IT TAKES

 (This season it’s the same vocal Alexz Johnson Track however it’s a brand new opening and to quote River Song….Spoilers! It opens with Dave on the steps a ’la Adam in the last sequence. Scene two is in the garden/courtyard with Mo and Marisol where Jake and a now dark haired Katie are spraying them with a hose and laughing…. Simpson then busts them and the scene shifts to Tori and Tristan sword fighting on stage in the theater as director Eli looks on. We next meet new girl Becky running down the hallway with Jenna…then the Ice Hounds which are Owen and Newbie trio Dallas whom we just met alongside Luke and Campbell—Then the usual band room scene with Maya, Zig, and Imogen—Miss Oh in a classroom with KC and Conner as Bianca walks in—Fiona and Drew shooting a basketball and Adam catching it and ending w/ Alli and Clare walking into the school.

Jenna’s excited that they can wear Jeans and Alli just feels like she’s finally able to breathe again. Simpson however calls for them to put an ellipsis on the excitement because the assembly is still going on and he introduces the ice hounds to the school As Jenna and Alli are gushing about the hotness of the NHL hopefuls Clare sees Eli from afar and smiles cornering him post assembly to ask about his holiday in New York. He complains sarcastically about all the art and theater and architecture before saying he’s already working on his entrance portfolio to apply to NYU. Clare nods beginning to ask about how other things are namely where they stand post kiss when Becky interrupts and introduces herself. She just transferred from Florida and she’s little miss sunshine who wants Clare to show her to class.

The niner girls are gushing. Tori can’t wait to take Maya shopping and Tristan already is ahead of them on his phone. The semester is going to rock, Tori and Tristan are going to get leads in the school play, Zig’s hair is at the PERFECT length and Maya….well…. Maya smiles declaring she’s going to be in a band and asks the other niners if they want to be in it with. They don’t but she has a plan B…. she found a flyer posted and Mo is looking to start a band so she plans to check it out. Her giddiness is soon interrupted as a group of ice hounds namely Dallas and Owen ask if the café is serving pancakes because they could use a nice flat one….yes they are pretty much calling a FRESHMAN out on her flat chest. Rude much.

Katie’s complaining to Drew about how Simpson expects her to hold a pep rally to welcome the Hockey team when there is no money in the council’s budget….you know cause everything was pretty much blown on Frostival last semester in her absence. Speaking of pep rallies Drew has something to say…she’s a great girl and Katie knows something’s up as she tearfully asks what she did. Drew says he hooked up with some girl named Courtney when he went on a ski holiday with his family. Katie’s livid that while she was in rehab thinking night and day about him he was off hooking up with random and she’s so glad she didn’t swipe her V card with him. He hopes that she’s willing to still be friends but she’s over it.

Maya tells Mo she saw his poster and she’s wondering what the sound is. Mo says it’s White Stripes Meets Arcade Fire and he asks if she knows anyone interested. She says she is but he had someone more mature in mind then Katie’s kid sister.

Drew sets up a romantic candle lit fast food picnic with Bianca however their date is soon crashed as Dallas and Adam are doing pre-emptive damage control cause they are planning a Welcome Dallas party while the rents are away. Drew’s grown ass man-ery is showing through as he protests and Dallas comments how who knew Drew’s sister was cooler than him in reference to Adam. Drew goes all defensive threatening to end the other boy if he ever calls Adam a girl again cause Adam has and will always be Drew’s Achilles heel. He wants them to cancel the party but it’s too late… it’s on face range and Adam tweeted it….he got a ton of followers. Dallas gives Drew condoms in case he wants to lose his own Virginity because yes Drew is a virgin despite the gratuitous amount of BJ’s he’s gotten in the past. They also got a keg and Drew just knows shit is going to go down.

Jenna’s looking at face range and sees how everyone who’s anyone has RSVP’d to the party. Clare is commenting if her top is too clingy and the girls want to know if she’s trying to impress someone special. Clare admits she and Eli kissed and the girls are all ‘tell me more tell me more ‘however there isn’t more to tell since Eli seems to be acting like nothing ever happened. Jake walks by Clare’s room and Jenna wants male perspective on the subject and they start asking hypotheticals when Jake interjects and asks if hypothetically this guy favors the color black wink wink nudge nudge.

Katie tells Marisol about the cheating and she’s all self-loathing saying she’s such a bad girlfriend and if she didn’t drug out he wouldn’t of needed to cheat and plans to crash the party at casa de Torres to tell Drew she wants to fix things.

The niners are at the mall talking about Mo’s band and the fact that Maya’s flat chested and poor poor Zigmond having to hear these girly things being the only straight male of the bunch. Tori says she has just the padding Maya needs to impress.

Drew’s sorry that the date’s ruined however Bianca says that she’s with him till the world explodes. Adam sees Katie showing up and Dallas goes to give Drew some liquid courage not for hooking up with Bianca but for the damage control he’s about to incur.

Eli’s being a social butterfly and it’s hard to tell if she’s drunk or just excited. Clare tries to talk but Alli pulls her away saying to just have fun.

Adam wants to set a bonfire with the old uniforms but Becky insists she donate them to a clothing drive instead.

Drew wants to know why Katie’s there and she says she’s giving him a second chance before breaking down in tears saying how she thought he’d be happier to see her and tells her to sneak in through the front and meet him in his room. He downs the drink Dallas gave him and heads back inside.

Maya’s practincg her audition piece however she’s distracted by her reflection and she looks at herself in the mirror before holding up the silicone pads Tori gave her.

As One Direction’s ‘Up All Night’ soundtracks the moment, Bianca leaves for curfew and Drew still with drink in hand is told by Dallas upon her exit how Katie’s upstairs still and how sometimes it takes three times before a breakup sticks. Dallas and the rest of the hockey team force Drew to chug a trophy full of booze before he shows up. Katie asks if he’s drunk and Drew says no he just had a beer in a trophy and admits he lied about an affair so she’d dump him. He isn’t happy about what he did and Katie says it’s okay she was a bad girlfriend and she deserves to be dumped however they’ve been through allot and just wants to talk things through. Drew tells Katie she saved his life and Katie tells him how they need one another.

Clare walks out to see Eli on the back deck. She wants to know why he didn’t being up the kiss and he told her how with everything they went though he didn’t want to obsess over one kiss in case it meant nothing. Clare tells him that she doesn’t regret the kiss but Eli’s still on the fence. He was about to go away on Holiday….there were twinkly lights….he wants to make sure it wasn’t a fleeting moment and she’s all in. Clare kisses him and tells him she is all in and they kiss again….note there ARE twinkly lights.

Drew comes down stairs and Dallas asks how things went with Katie. Drew says he did it and then collapses. The boys help prop him up as he takes another drink screaming……TBC

Drew wakes up hung-over the next morning as Audra calls his name. He’s flipping out that she saw the party mess but the basement is clean. Audra is pissed none the less as she looks at Drew’s schedule and is upset that he’s taking all remedial level classes. Dallas tells him how he passed out and he and Adam did all the cleaning well accept the mess on Drew’s back. Drew looks at all the marker drawings and Dallas says that it happened after he fell downstairs drunk but after he streaked around the block. He asks how much he had to drink and Dallas says he lost count but he knows it’s going to be a fun day.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGHT

Clare wakes up to hear Eli’s breath coming through her cell. They fell asleep on the phone and Clare tells him how she already misses him even though it’s only been eight hours. Eli asks if she’s ready for a re-first date and she says she is.

Maya tells Tori about how she spend all night composing music and she hopes Mo thinks she’s mature enough since she used the pads. Tori looks and lets out a chuckle at Maya’s uni-boob and starts adjusting her friends chest in the middle of the hall instead of the washroom which would be a more proper place to do so.

Drew enters the Calculus class Audra made him switch too utterly hung-over as Katie beckons him to sit beside her. Drew is shocked she’s not still pissed and she says to let them just chalk ‘Courtney’ to a misunderstanding. As Armstrong is going over the assignment, Katie whispers how she’s sorry she left but she had a midnight curfew but what they did was special and she’s never felt closer to him. Drew then heads to the trashcan in the front of the room and pukes weather it’s over losing his V card to Katie or cause if the booze remains to be said.

Miss Oh is handing out logs for the student’s co-ops as Alli is talking about how she and Eli are starting over however her parade is soon rained on as the teacher tells her that her co-op is to start that afternoon.

Mo is holding auditions. Imogen’s is….unique to say the least and Maya’s up next.

Drew goes to Dallas asking what happened and if Katie was at the party. Dallas says yea and you sent her to your room to dump but ended up sleeping with her instead. Drew thinks this is all wrong especially cause he loves Bianca and so Dallas instructs him to check the condom he put in his wallet if it’s there they didn’t do it if it’s not…hey they were safe…though if it was their chances are they did it just unprotected….just saying….PS it’s gone.

Maya’s still playing as one of her cups ends up falling out. Finishing the piece she ends up running out.

Drew tells Adam how he messed up. He blacked out and had sex with Katie. Adam tells him he’s got dumb white boy problems with two girls fawning over him and that he should do the right thing though weather that’s dumping the girl he loves or the one he just swapped virginities with remains unsaid. He slips into chem class where both girls ask to be his lab partner and so the three of them are a group. Bianca comments about how good a mood Katie’s in and soon Drew sends her to get supplies. Bianca tells Drew how Katie seems to be taking things too well and Drew admits while he did break up with her however somehow they ended up back together you know because of the hook up though he doesn’t tell Bianca as much. Now it’s also interested to note how said hook up holds tons of controversy on the fan sites cause while all we saw was Katie kissing Drew we don’t know if she took advantage of Drew’s drunken state or if Drew initiated and Katie just went with the flow….Drew feels like crap and asks Bianca to pretend they aren’t a couple until he figures out what to do with Katie however Bianca is pissed and walks off. Drew asks Katie what she’s doing and she says hanging with him.

Maya’s freaking out cause she can’t find her music sheet however Tori tells her she knows she lost something else and how now they are calling her chicken cutlet and how she’d rather be called pancake. Tori tells Maya she still has time to mature and the reason why she has boobs and Maya doesn’t is cause she repeated grade four….tell anyone and you’re dead. Plus she’d gladly trade her boobs for Maya’s musical talent any day.

Eli tells Clare that he scored them tickets to a sold out Arcade Fire show however she has her internship meeting. She promises to be done by eight so they can see it and have a perfect date.

Drew is rehearsing his break up with Dallas and Adam. He needs to be harsh so that she doesn’t drag him back.

Mo follows Maya telling her she dropped something…..her music sheet. He’s impressed with her talent and her range in instruments and he has to have her for his band. Her celebration is short lived as Owen teases her in passing and she tosses the other pad at him saying how it’ll be the most action he’ll get all year and seriously I’m pretty sure this episode and the few lines in Time Of Your Life are the only Owen action we get.

Clare meets Asher and she tells him how she’s very grateful and serious about the internship.

Katie asks if he wants to share a plate of fries but Drew declines. Drew tells her how they need to break up and that he doesn’t want to be with her anymore. She tells him how yesterday they talked and were fine with things….they had sex. Drew tells her he was drunk and Katie comments about how he said he wasn’t and oh my god how could she be so stupid she just knew something like this was going to happen if she let her guard down. He admits how while she was at rehab he realized he still had feelings for Bianca but they wanted to wait till she was in a better place to tell her. He tells Katie how she’s a great girl and she’ll find someone who makes her happy and to not tell anyone she slept with him.

Clare is finished with her assignment and Asher offers to take her out into the field which is a big deal for a first day intern and so she calls Eli saying she can’t go. She asks if he’s mad and he tells her he’ll just crash his car into a wall….. kidding….work comes first its okay he’ll just go with Adam its cool and he wishes her luck.

Drew and Bianca are at the mall and Drew is telling her how sorry he feels about breaking Katie’s heart like he did. They run into Katie and Marisol and Drew tells them how hopefully they can move past things
