11x22/23 Drop It Like It’s Hot –RECAP

Alternately this episode was called Poker Face at least in initial PR. I have no clue as to why the title changed seeing as how A) the Lady Gaga song by the same name plays in this episode and 2) we have a sub-plot about poker/gambling….

Alli and Dave are texting I love yous and Jenna asks what he thought about her being accepted to the summer long science camp. Alli says she plans on telling him….eventually. Dave then shows up asking how all those late night pillow fights with her new roommate Jenna are going and invites himself over to play cards with her dad.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Jenna tells Alli she needs to tell Dave and she can’t back down from the program cause it’s a once in a lifetime thing. Her parents are going out and Sav is doing a music thing with Mo and so Jenna is voluntold to go to the Dot to study and she says with everything that went down with Ty and KC giving Alli space is the least she can do.

Mr. Betenkamp is talking about a project to build a machine to turn on a light bulb winning project gets to compete in a citywide competition. Naturally Wesley and Hannah are pairing up but Liam soon joins their happy couple making it a trio.

Imogen and Bianca are in PE playing volleyball. Armstrong has one rule, no kicking the ball. Bianca isn’t in gym clothes and in lew of detention Armstrong gives her a health assignment. Imogen decides to feign menstrual cramps to do it too and asks Bianca if she wants to work on it together. Bianca has a plan with some guy and it’s not something that she can cancel on.

Wesley, Hannah and Liam are talking about the machine. Wesley wants to do a highly complex Monopoly theme however Liam wants something much more simple. Hannah just wants a good grade.

Adam and Dave are talking theme ideas for their next radio show. Alli shows up in the booth inviting him over since her parents are not going to be home and she wants alone time and she wants it to be special. He asks if he can bring anything and she says dessert. Adam tells Dave that CLEARLY she means sex and CLEARLY he’s been around his brother too much.

Wesley, Hannah and Liam are talking about the project and Wesley wants to work on it more now that schools over however Hannah says she and Liam need to get the bus and she just relied they live a mere two blocks from each other. Wesley offers to ride with to pow wow however Hannah reminds him he lives clear across town. She tells him he’s still her number one neutron bomb as Wesley’s uncle pulls up to give him a ride. Wesley asks his uncle Mike for driving lessons and wants to go to the DMV to get a permit so in six months he can drive Hannah home.

Dave and Adam went condom shopping and they fall out of the bag outside the Dot and Imogen picks them up. She walks off and Dave tells Adam how it’s been two years and he’s finally with Alli and he wants to make their first time right…..um two years….maybe one year cause two years ago you’d of been at the tail end of grade eight unless Alli was in junior high with you off screen.

Vince has picked Bianca up and wants her to push some drugs….this time on campus since you know he can’t get there himself thanks to Drew and he restraining order. She sells and he’ll stay away.

Alli has ordered Dave’s favorite pizza. Alli comments she has something to say and Dave says he knows….she’s experienced and he’s not but he’s prepared and pulls out condoms. She can’t believe he’d bring condoms and he tells her that she said the parents were gone and she wanted alone time so he just thought….he thought….she thought he was different than the other guys and is glad she’s going to be gone all summer long and THAT was the reason she wanted to be with him. Dave says two months…anything can happen in two months. Dave ends up leaving and the following day she’s playing cards and venting to Jenna and Adam, the letter admits he was the one who planted the sex idea in Dave’s head. Alli asks Adam aside from sex what’s the number one thing on a guy’s mind. Alli ends up winning the game due to card counting and Adam tells her that if he had skills he’d be rich. Alli then sets up a secret gambling ring.

Imogen asks Bianca how her meeting went and Bianca says she’d rather have detention. Imogen asks Bianca if she had her assignment and she said it was almost done. Imogen rips them up leading them to have that Detention that Bianca wanted.

Wesley asks Liam how the ride home went and Liam comments how they stopped for Pizza along the way and chatted. Hannah comments about Wesley’s car magazine and asks if he’s getting a car and Wesley says he’s got his license….surprise….

See I told you Gaga’s song would play….it plays as Alli slips a note in Dave’s locker. She wants him to forgive her and she has a surprise for him….PS Not Sex as it soon pans to her secret lunchtime card game where she’s hustling seniors.

Mr. Betenkamp is giving Wesley driving lessons and Wesley almost runs over Drew backing up prompting his uncle to say next time maybe they should practice in an empty lot.

Bianca asks Imogen if she gets high and asks her if she wants to buy some pot. She wishes Armstrong was there cause she needs to pee and wants Bianca to tell her a story to distract her. About her guy. Bianca says the situation is complicated. Imogen said she’s getting over feelings for a complicated guy as well and has come to the realization that she deserves something better because she’s worth it and perhaps one day she’ll believe it. Armstrong tells them they have 20 mins left and lets Imogen have a pee break. While she’s gone, Bianca takes money from Imogen’s bag so that she can give it to Vince to pay for the drugs.

The trio are working out ideas for their machine and Wesley takes his uncles Keys and offers to drive Hannah home.

Alli tells Jenna that she’s purchased two highly expensive tickets to a basketball game as an apology gift to Dave….she’s also found a high stakes game on Craigslist. Poker is all she can think about and if gives her such a rush. Dave shows up for his surprise and Alli shows him the Raptors tickets and a custom jersey and tells him to get changed so they can grab some pre game wings. As Dave goes to change, Alli responds to the ad saying she’s interested in playing.

Wesley drives Hannah however it’s a bit sticky at first.

Alli tells Dave how she won the money playing poker and dipping into her savings a bit cause she wants their time together before she leaves to be special. Dave says what’s too months and invites her over to his house tomorrow night to meet his parents. She agrees and at the same time she’s texting the poker guys to confirm her presence at the game…..TBC

Alli’s patched things up with Dave and killed her math test and Jenna wants her luck to rub off on him. Speaking of luck she wishes her friend it on meeting Dave’s parents and she says she plans to blow it off cause she’s got a poker game….think of it as a summer job with big earnings. She tells Jenna to tell her parents she’s with Dave and to tell Dave she’s sick.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH

Alli fakes sick for Dave and he’s glad to re schedule.

Hannah is talking about how great Wesley’s driving is though she can’t wait until he gets a ride of his own cause his uncle’s sedan doesn’t suite him. Liam wants to know where he took lessons. Before Wesley can answer his uncle comes in saying the deadline for the project is end of day tomorrow. Liam suggests they go to the museum cause they have an exhibit on these type of machines and could help Wesley work out his water valve bug. Hannah suggests that they go during lunch period tomorrow.

Alli shows up at the card game in some warehouse with a group of shady college ages guys.

Vince asks where Bianca was and she says she had school. He’s proud of her profits and tells her she’s her favorite and tries to slip her more drugs. She doesn’t want to sell anymore at Degrassi, she wants a safe haven away from him. He slaps her after accusing her of being back with Drew. They have a deal and he doesn’t want to break it.

Alli’s won about a hundred dollars and Alli says she’s feeling better and Dave says it’s because of the soup he brought. Alli is clueless about it and Dave asks what she likes about it. Alli says the chicken and the noodles and he tells her it was tomato. She admits she was playing poker. Dave is pissed.

Imogen is also pissed that Bianca stole her birthday money. Bianca says she plans to pay it back and Imogen tells her by stealing from someone else….no thanks and that she was stupid thinking they could ever be friends. Though they do end up friendly off screen circa season twelve….or at least one would assume so.

Wesley’s uncle says that he’s got pop quizzes to grade so his next lesson will have to wait and he’ll be ready to fly solo by mid-summer. He leaves as Hannah arrives ready to go to the museum however Wesley has second thoughts saying he’d rather just work. Hannah says it’s only a ten minute drive and they’ll be back by the next class. He caves telling her to get Liam as he steals the keys. Liam comments on the slowness of Wesley’s driving and soon the cops pull them over.

Simpson tells Alli he’s got something for her and it’s a scholarship check for two thousand for board and food for the summer. She says how it’s the most money she’s had in forever and nobody to spend it with. Jenna says to Dave that she’s been doing this all for Dave and Alli tells Dave that she wants to earn money so he can visit. He hears she’s won over three hundred and there is lots more where it came from and he wants to join her next time to see his girl in action….besides…their time together is limited.

Wesley is panicking as to what to say to the cop. She tells him that they were going 20 miles BELOW limit and he admits he only has a permit and the car is his uncles.

Alli ends up losing a major hand but she swears she’ll win it back.

Vince picks Bianca up and she says again how she’s will not deal at Degrassi. Vince tells her okay and apologizes for hitting her and gives her an apology gift of some sexy negligée cause she’s still his girl and he wants to hook up with her cause they are epic together.

Dave comes back from getting a drink only to see Alli putting all her chips in and she loses it. She puts her scholarship money in. Dave says if she loses there won’t be a program to go off to and she says well she’ll be with him so it’s win/win.

Wesley is told now he has a record and he won’t be able to get a license for at least three years. He tells her if Hannah is worth it there are other ways to impress her.

Bianca has Imogen meet her. She gets that the other girl is teed off and she deserves it and is sorry. Imogen comments it doesn’t matter cause they aren’t friends. Bianca says she’s going through allot and Imogen doesn’t deserve to be involved cause she’s a good person and needs to stay that way and gives her the negligée saying it’s a peace offering until she earns the money back. Imogen hand her a flyer for freshman orientation as a means to get away from the bad newsed guy.

Hannah confronts Wesley about them getting arrested. Liam says they are all there to beg for extensions but Wesley says no he fixed it. Alli goes to take the money before the boys show their cards. They are calling her out for counting when Officer Turner busts the game up cause Dave texted him about it. Awkward way to meet the boyfriend’s parents.

Wesley tells the others that his parents laid into him about it. They end up making it to the tournament however Wesley can’t celebrate cause he’s grounded. He asks Hannah why she likes him and she says she likes him for just being him and offers to ride his bus with him home.

Alli’s upset that Dave’s dad came cause now he doesn’t think highly of her. She suggests she meets his parents and shows them the real her. He tells her he doesn’t know….with her going away for two months. She asks if they are breaking up and he tells her just going on a break till the end of summer.
