Fade in on Drew in a headlock…has Vince returned? No….he’s
in his fight club with Julian, Owen and more athletes. Owen tells them
Armstrong is coming. He comes in with Katie reminding the boys that the weight
room is co-ed. Katie asks what’s with locking the door and Drew says it’s
nothing and she comments that their secret little boys club is cute.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Owen comments how he knew when he turned a group of girls
away that they’d blab. They are saying they need to put a hold on the club
cause if they get caught they could get punishment cause while the school has a
wrestling team MMA training is still considered fighting and there is a zero
tolerance policy. Drew is rather pissed. Julian asks if he’s okay as Drew says
yet….Katie thinks otherwise.
Alli’s on the phone with Dave who wants to hang out however
Alli can’t. Her dad asks how her day was and she says she got an 89 in class he
says she should of got a 90 he’s joking. She complements his tie and he says if
she wants to order a pizza for dinner she just has to ask….no it’s not that
she’s wondering if when dinner’s over she can go out. Her dad says sure. She’s
been showing she can be responsible again and has earned back their trust. Alli
asks if he and her mom dated in high school and she laughs before adding to
tell Clare he said hi.
Fiona and Holly J are looking at Prom Dresses but Holly J doesn’t
feel like going to prom because she’s worried about her health and how her
birth mom wants 20K for it. Fiona says her lawyer is already cutting a check no
questions ask. Her lawyer calls however informing them that paying for a kidney
is illegal.
Adam comes down wanting to play video games as Drew is doing
sit ups. Adam comments there is more to life than working out and Drew informs
him about the MMA. He’s been feeling much better cause of it. It’s like a rush
and now he needs to find a new place to train thanks to girls narking on him.
He asks Adam if he wants to spar and Adam asks if he’s serious. Drew says no
and Adam’s glad because he likes his violence virtual.
Drew’s watching the wrestling team and Armstrong asks Drew
if he’s interested in another sport. He asks Mo what class he’s in and he asks
if plans on trying out. Drew says nah he’s an MMA guy and then offers to spar privately
with him.
Alli apologizes for the date being short and Dave says ice
cream is better than nothing. Mr. P walks by and Dave tells him how he’s seen
the original Tron like he recommended and Alli comments how he seems to get
along well with adults and Dave nods….just like Alli in advanced science. Alli
goes into the lab and tells Clare if anyone asks she was with her. Alli says
she is on the up and up but she’s afraid of what they’d think if she has a
boyfriend. Clare says she should introduce Dave to them as her friend and play
it by ear.
Drew and Mo are sparing when Drew catches Katie peeking in
at them throwing him off his game for a moment however he ends up beating Mo
anyway.
Holly J joins Dawn and her kids for breakfast. Holly J says
she can’t pay her not for the lack of money but cause its illegal. Dawn says
her life is nuts….she’s a single mom and she can’t afford to give up three
months of her life and the donor list will pull through. Holly J tells her she
shouldn’t have children if she can’t take care of them.
Drew is walking down the hall and Katie approaches him. She
saw his little display and she just wants to know what Drew gets when he
fights. She’s not a nark she’s writing about violence in youth culture and
maybe just maybe she’s a bit curious about him….
Alli asks Dave how he feels about meeting her parents. He’s
down and she tells him that she’ll meet him after school for a prep session so
he knows what to say so they approve of them being together sans sneaking
around.
Owen asks where Drew was at lunch and he says no in the weight
room taking down the school heavyweight champ. Owen says no you weren’t fighting
Mo and asks if anyone saw them. Drew says just one girl but it’s cool because
he thinks she’s into him. Owen shakes his head….no….not the newspaper chick.
Drew says yea Katie and that he can sway her to be their lookout. Owen says
good cause he has a new move he wants to show him.
Alli says don’t talk about rap but do talk about your dad
being a cop. Dave says it’s not like he’s a criminal he’s just her boyfriend.
No, Alli says….tonight you’re just my friend….at least until they warm up….
Holly J tells Fiona that she might as well just give up on
Yale because she’ll be stuck in dialysis till she dies. She can’t believe what
she told Dawn and yet at the same time she’s the selfish one. Fiona tells her
to keep fighting but she’s tired of it.
Dave shows up at the Bhandari home for the date and
introduces himself to the parents as Mrs. Bhandari serves tea. Alli says how
they are really good study buddies. Dave tells them his dad is a cop and Mrs. Bhandari
says how she loves CSI, NCIS, The mentalist…..Mr. Bhandari asks if he likes
sports and Dave says basketball but he’s getting into cricket.
The boys are heading toward the gym only to see Simpson
there. Drew asks if they can get in however Simpson says not now but they can
later on with supervision and sign-up sheets. He heard a few stories about
fights and he gets final approval of the paper. Julian and Owen roll their eyes
and Drew tells Simpson that whatever Katie said is a lie. Drew flips and
Simpson gives him detention to cool down. Owen tells Drew he thought his
girlfriend could keep secrets.
Mr. Bhandari is waxing on about cricket and as the parents
walk out Alli is glad it’s going well. Dave doesn’t like how he has to pretend
to be someone else and Alli comments how the real Dave wouldn’t last a minute.
Dave walks out.
Drew blasts Katie and says that he thought her paper was
anonymous. She points out no names were used and how she can’t talk due to her
writing the intermural round up as no one is interested in covering sports.
Drew wines about the weight room being closed and tells her she thought she
liked him. She says she heard rumors about him and what happened and she
thought she could help. He tells her that he is an idiot and thought she was
trustworthy and storms out….TBC
Drew’s punching a bag in the basement and Adam walks down
saying he’ll wake the parents and asks if Drew had a nightmare. He says that
would require actual sleep. He explains the weight room got shut down thanks to
what Katie wrote in the paper and Adam comments asking who would nark to Lois
Lane. Drew continues to punch and Adam asked if she was using a polygraph and
he says no….he just thought she got him and she is kind of cute. Adam says he
should just open up to Katie cause talking to someone not a shrink about things
could be cathartic.
I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH
Drew shows up with apology coffee and offers his services as
sports reporter. He’s been looking for something less intense to do and he’s a
good writer if it’s something he’s passionate about. She tells him she’s
willing to try him out and tells him when the meeting is.
Alli was sad that Dave ran out and he says it wasn’t him
that was David the parentally approved alter ego. She asks if he wants to come
over again…this time the real him.
Julian is telling Owen that he found them a match and they
ask Drew if he wants to come with. He says he can’t because he’s joining
another club after school. The boys plan to text them the address in case he
changes his mind.
Holly J meets with Dawn and is sorry that she flipped out
and called her selfish the other day and she really wants to get to know her
bio-mom. Dawn says she really does want to help she just needs to find a way.
Holly J says she doesn’t have to do that….but she does want to be friends.
Drew closes his eyes and has a flashback during the pitch
meeting and Katie asks if she was boring him and asks if he can give her a
column. Drew instead bolts out.
Holly J is acting as a mannequin for Fiona. She tells her
how she’s been talking to Dawn and thinks they’ll be great friends and then
goes to show Fiona her prom dress and says how she still has it. Fiona looks at
it and wonders if perhaps Dawn would sell it to her cause it’s perfectly retro
and she loves it…say for 20K?
Alli needs to confess something….Dave’s not her friend…she’s
her boyfriend. Her dad says that he doesn’t like her and Sav dating and Alli
knows. She just wants to be honest and not sneak around. His dad says it was
bound to happen at some point and agrees for Dave to come over.
Owen and Julian show up at the MMA match and its insane….way
too intense for them. Drew shows up just as they are leaving and volunteers to
go into the cage getting the wind knocked out of him.
The next day, Drew’s back in the gym lifting weights despite
almost suffocating from a choke hold. Julian says fight club is over and he
should stick with the newspaper and wooing Katie.
Dave shows up at the Bhandari’s. He admits he doesn’t like
tea and he suggests they play a game….Mr. Bhandari suggests poker.
Holly J meets with Dawn with a proposal. Fiona wants to buy
the dress. Dawn tells her no need she’ll just lend it. Holly J says no….she
wants to pay 20K. It’s on the up and up cause the money is for the dress and
not for the kidney.
Katie’s been looking for Drew and asks where his piece. She
guesses she’ll never find out his big secret…what makes him tick. He tells her
that he has nightmares and the only way he can move past them is to fight. She
says so the rumors are true and he tells her the details. She asks if he’s ever
tried a different kind of training… something structured. He pulls her into a
kiss and she says okay. He apologizes and she lets him know that she wasn’t
stopping him she was just taken off guard however he runs out afraid of ruining
things.
Dave, Alli, and Mr. Bhandari finish their game and plan a
re-match sometime soon. Alli can’t believe how awesome her summer is going to
be because she can be with Dave no strings.
Holly J tells her mom the good news…Dawn is going to donate
her kidney. Fiona’s got good news too….she got a dress. Suddenly Holly J’s excited
for Prom.
Drew goes back to the cages for a re-match and the prize
fighter says he’ll pass he doesn’t want to kill him. Drew doesn’t care and goes
back for more. Julian shows up with Katie as Drew keeps wailing on the fighter
leading to Katie pulling him out of the cage. Drew comments how he told her not
to follow and Katie says he can’t tell her what to do.
Alli’s gushing to Clare about how perfect things are with
her and Dave and they are going to have the most perfect summer together…that
is till Mr. Betenkamp tells her she got accepted to the summer science program.
Drew shows up to do Tae Kwon Do with Katie and comments why
she has a green belt while he has a white one. She says he’ll see and she gets
the fighting as a form of control….foreshadowing for Katie’s next character
arch perhaps….and proceeds to flip Drew over. He’s impressed at her moves and
she says that this isn’t her first rodeo and to not mess with her.
