Remember how I commented that after the movie we
wouldn’t see the trio of Ellie, Paige, and Marco again sans a season 11 webisode
with Paige and a season 9 episode with Marco…. Well we’re at the latter.
The basketball team is playing and KC makes a game
winning shot leading them to make finals. Cheerleader Jenna jumps into KC’s
arms and he twirls her around in a hug. His GIRLFRIEND Clare says she wants a
hug and twirl too or at least a kiss and KC just realizes he has two girls
wanting him.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
The prodigal son returns as Marco is about to go
back to Degrassi as a student teacher for Mr. P’s History class. Holly J offers
him the scone she saved for him and he comments saying doesn’t she usually have
the late shift. She comments back how Declan can’t start his day without the
Dot’s coffee and the two soon start to chatter about some dance show. Since
Holly J started Degrassi after Marco graduated it’s safe to assume that he
still must live local and gravitate to the local grill and coffee house on a
regular basis. Spinner plays the adult card telling the trio they’ll be late
for school.
Holly J announces the athletic association is having
a car wash and Jenna comments about how her brother’s been at the mud ranch so
his truck is a mess. She then asks when she’s going to meet KC’s family. He
tells her it’s complicated but Clare’s all the family he needs. Jenna
introduces her brother Kyle to Clare and KC and he comments how Jenna always is
talking about him. The coach pulls up in a sweet car with a very well kept girl
besides him….(she’s a hooker….spoilers) he’s there baring gifts….the boys
letter jackets have arrived though KC walks off cause he couldn’t afford one
and soon he engages in a water fight with Clare and Jenna.
Mr. P tells Marco he needs to remember he’s the
teacher not the friend and Marco nods. Marco introduces himself to the class. Fitz
heckles him a bit but Marco presses on.
KC and Clare are acting flirty at the car wash when
Jenna starts to out flirt her. Clare is clearly jealous and KC gets her all wet…not
maliciously just to play. Jenna then comments about how she lost a contact and
KC goes to help her. As Jenna kneels down Clare comments that with her bikini
bottoms and low rise shorts Jenna’s butt crack is showing and Jenna blushes
with embarrassment. She stands up and comments she has extra contacts in her
locker and its okay.
Holly J tells Marco how he rocked at a teacher. She
then comments about all the ‘adult’ commitments she’s got lined up and how she
really wants to go to the athletic banquet if only she could get an extension.
He tells her okay but it’s just one day and it’s a one off. She thanks him and
then goes to tell Declan THEY got the extension…. Um….you never once mentioned
your boyfriend’s name and Marco never granted him one too sweetie.
Coach Carson is talking about how KC is improving as
a player and shows great promise. He ends up saying in conversation about how
both his parents are in prison….drugs are bad and apparently he is too. He and
his girlfriend keep fighting because she’s jealous that he’s nice to other
girls. The coach comments how Jenna is cute and how he should go for her. KC
then shows up at Clare’s house and asks what happened to get her mad at the car
wash. Clare tells him that Jenna is trying to edge her out as his girlfriend
but KC tells her he was just joking around….and besides the coach told him it’s
okay at fifteen to want to look at other girls. Clare asks if he does
everything that he says and KC shakes his head before telling Clare if they can’t
be happy they can’t be together and he breaks up with her. Clare asks him how
long he’s liked her and he tells her he tried not to.
Marco is once again giving class and Fitz asks if he
can get an extension too cause Holly J and Declan are getting one. Everyone
soon expects that they are getting one and Mr. P comments that he’s not
spending his weekend grading papers and that if Marco cracks then it’s going to
show on his evaluation. Marco then says the essays are due electronically by
7PM NO EXCEPTIONS
The Group Home facilitator asks KC how his team is
going and says how his coach came by with a present. He bought KC a team jacket
and the facilitator reminds him about curfew.
Marco is at the Dot getting a strong caffeine fix to
help him chaperone the banquet and then grade the essays. Speaking of essays he
asks Holly J who enters the diner how hers went. She tells him it didn’t and
while she knows she can’t get special privileges in class she knows he’s got
her back wink wink…. It’ll be in tomorrow.
Conner comments about KC’s new threads and asks if
he stole it. KC shakes his head and thanks the coach. He tells KC he earned it
and that he broke up with Clare. Carson tells KC he needs to go after what he
really wants, AKA Jenna. Carson then goes up on stage and gives KC the award
for most improved player. There is a montage of clips from the banquet
including the team and squad getting pictures and Marco looking at a flirty
Declan and Holly J while Mr. P is giving him a lecture about the special
treatment. Dave comments that KC and Jenna are a power couple in the making as
Alli arrives saying that Jenna had been gunning for him since Day One and it
was only a matter of time before she backstabbed everyone to steal him from
Clare. Carson watches the exchange and tells KC to go to his hotel room with Jenna
to get away from the judgmental eyes. The duo go to the room and are impressed
by the massive bed and the hot tub. KC then takes a candy bar from the mini bar
and he tells Jenna when he knows what he wants he goes after it and starts
making out with Jenna. The coach walks in to grab his wallet and Jenna excuses
herself. KC plans on going to cause it’s curfew but Carson wants to talk and
calls the home to let them know KC’s staying with him.
Marco tells Holly J there is no extension and she
will take a zero. He then gives her a compromise she’ll get no grade penalties
if the time stamp is before midnight giving her less than two hours to write.
Holly J comments that he’s such a teacher.
Carson lives in the hotel room and he changes cloths
in front of Kc. He explains he is only there till the seasons over then he’ll
move on. He then gives KC a beer telling him to keep in on the DL as he only
does it with his most improved players.
Mr.P tells him about his own first time…he brought a
guitar to teach math. It’s not about being tough or soft just about not being
their friend. He pushes Ethan and Trisha apart telling them to ‘leave room for
the holy ghost’ before getting Holly J’s text with minutes to spare.
KC comments he needs to get home because it’s almost
midnight. Carson comments how he’s too drunk to drive and will call the home
again to let them know about KC. KC’s phone rings meanwhile and its Jenna
saying she went home and she’ll see him tomorrow. She sings it ‘kisses’ and
Carson apologizes for being a cock block. KC comments that it’s not like he
knows what to do and then orders porn for them to see….an uncomfortable KC is
uncomfortable….tbc
KC wakes up in the morning in the hotel room. He
comments how he needs to go if he wants to make it to homeroom and Carson nods
and agrees reminding him to check in with the home and commenting on the price
of the porno before telling KC he’ll meet him in the lobby. KC is silent now
and Carson asks if he’s okay…. He’s feeling gross and Carson tells him to
hydrate because he’s hangover.
I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH
KC arrives at school and Conner and Dave comments
about how cool it must have been to have one on one time with the coach.
Meanwhile across the quad Alli is flipping out on Jenna saying how she doesn’t
know how shit is done in Alberta but here in Toronto they don’t steal friends
boyfriends. She tells Jenna to go tip a cow or something before elbowing KC as
he walks by. KC then apologizes to Jenna for Alli and Clare’s mean ness before
telling her he got the text. She asks if he said anything to KC about the make
out that he’d caught them in and KC says no. She then tells him she got a
creepy vibe from him.
Declan is extra chipper in the morning and Fiona goes
to grab the second coffee in his tray only to realize it’s not her usual order
but Holly J’s. Declan asks Holly J if it’s alright if Fiona has it and Holly J
says sure she’ll just go to a pep rally uncaffinated. Fiona makes a snide
comment before asking if he’s on for sushi since the parents are out of town.
He tells her he’s going to have a pizza during the play meeting. Fiona is
miffed about that but hey….more yellow tail for her.
The basketball team are being introduced at the pep
rally leading up to the finals and I’m left with a question that’s been eating
me up inside since last season though I’ve not been vocal about it. Is Junior
Varsity referred to as ‘Midget’ in Canada cause it seems sort of derogatory at
least to my American ears whenever they are called the Midget Basketball Team
which is why I’ve been just calling them JV. Hung over KC pukes and Jenna asks
if he’s okay. He tells Jenna he’s just nervous….well that and he drank a few
beers with the coach no big deal. Yea it is….cause he lied about getting home
safe cause he never came home he crashed at the hotel. Jenna again says something
is off. KC tells her Carson’s the one to get him to dump Clare for her.
Declan announces auditions have begun and he sees
Fiona eating alone in the Zen garden. He tells her she needs to put herself out
there more socially like he’s doing with the play. It’ll be good for her he promises.
Carson ends practice before calling KC aside. He asks
where his focus is and KC promises he’ll be fine. Carson says he better be or
he’s wasting his time. KC then asks Carson what he’s doing later and if he’s
got more beers left. Carson says no drinking till after the finals but they can
hang out.
Declan is running auditions. Chantey sings and is
great and they think they got their lead. Then Fiona comes to audition and she’s
insanely tone deaf. Sav and Anya comment about how horrific she is and Declan
comments how she’s no Lea Michele (note while Glee may of already began season
one at this point this reference is most likely due to her role in Spring
Awaking considering the in-verse play title they are casting is titled Space
Awakening) He then goes onto say how she’s his sister and while Jane’s away he
gets final say. Sav soon comments wishing Jane’s great aunt Erica didn’t pass
away, which is another Meta moment cause I assume the actress playing Jane was
filming for ‘Being Erica’ another Canadian drama where she played a semi-major
roll (and also featured the actors who’ve played Jimmy, Paige, and Maya to name
a few though I’m sure there were a ton more since Canadian actors are a tight
knit group…)
KC is with Carson and he KC is telling him about how
worried he is about not living up to his potential in the finals. Carson
comments he gets scared too but you have to own the fear and then he pulls out
a tool box from the backseat and removes a gun causing KC to be uncomfortable.
He says he’s fine and Carson says good cause we have plays to go over. KC and
Carson go into the hotel room to look at old tapes. He asks KC how bad does he
want to be a star. KC wants it. He then tells Carson he gets him and nobody
ever has before.
Fiona gushes to Declan that she can’t believe she
got the part and wonders if the others thought she was a total flake. Declan
says no, they loved her but that he hopes she has Saturdays free cause he’s scheduled
a voice lesson for her. She comments asking why he did that and wonders if she’s
bad. Declan tells her no it’s a formality and everyone has to have them.
The door to the hotel has a knock and Carson’s
hooker friend stops by. KC starts to
head out but Carson tells him to stay and gives him another beer (so much for
no drinks pre-finals) He then tells KC he needs to unwind and get the stress
out of his system by sleeping with the whore after all he paid for the whole
night. He promises he won’t get in trouble for it.
Fiona’s not getting better and Declan rolls his eyes
to the Drama teacher…..crap.
Alli drags Clare to the basketball game since they
have nothing better to do. Clare excuses herself to buy a drink and as the team
comes in KC is a no show as he’s in Carson’s car.
Fiona is at her costume fitting with Anya and gives
her a constructive comment on her costume. Anya comments on her eye as Declan interrupts.
He tells her he’s sorry, she’s not a strong singer and she’s out which sucks because
he really wanted to do the play with her. She’s pissed that he’d lie to her
causing her to end up being a joke.
Clare sees KC and asks why he’s not inside being the
team hero. KC tells Clare he’s sorry….for everything and next thing we see is
KC in the locker room pulling Carson’s gun from his bag. Putting the gun back
Carson asks why he’s not in uniform. KC says he’s not playing and is owning the
fear. He trusted him but he’s scum and he’s going to expose him. Carson
comments how it’s his word against KC’s. KC then walks to Miss H and Simpson
with the bag. He then shows them Carson’s gun. Miss H has Simpson call the cops
and she asks if there is anything else she needs to know. The cops soon show up
to arrest Carson.
Chantey takes over Fiona’s part however all is not
lost as she’s Anya’s assistant on costumes. Declan apologizes once more saying
he only lied to make her happy.
Dave and Connor ask KC what the coach did but he
walks off. Jenna gives KC the jacket he left in the gym and he tells her he
doesn’t want it. She tells him but he’s part of the team and he simply tells
her she was right about Carson
