8x16 Heart of Glass--recap

Alli and Johnny are making out in his car however it’s almost nine and he doesn’t want her to be late for her curfew. He’s trying to be respectful however she thinks he’s not into her. She comes home and her mom asks how studying at the library was and Alli wines saying it’s stupid. She then slumps in the living room puts on West Drive and calls up someone presumably Clare wining that she hates her life. Seriously Alli do you want some cheese to go with your wine….god.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Alli is ranting about her relationship or lack thereof with Johnny in Armstrong’s class. Clare tells them that they’ve ONLY been back together for two weeks. Armstrong comments to Alli that she needs to keep up her work and perhaps they’ll have a win at some math competition. Rolling her eyes, Alli approaches Junior’s Mia and Anya who are in the next class asking them how their boyfriends act toward them when they get together. The girl’s comment how they always beg and plead for interaction and the girls ask about if she was talking about Johnny and how back at Lakehurst he was a bit of a sex hound. Alli tells him a movie he was talking about is playing and he tells her he can’t because he was heading to the ravine and so she asks to join him. Despite the ravine being a hot bed of debauchery he can’t say no.

Peter approaches Mia and he’s talking in a foreign language. He and Riley got Kenya in Model UN and they comment that they still need a Sweden. Anya rolls his eyes as the boys walk away and she comments asking if she thinks it’s weird that Peter is going to represent the country his ex-moved to.

Alli and Clare show up at the ravine where Alli pulls back her jacket to wear a crop top though it’s more like a freaking corset type top. First off she’s in grade nine and that’s too revealing (though at the same time when Manny was that age she wore far worse though look what happened) and second off this is fall, in Canada….she’s going to freeze. Clare comments on what she’s doing and wearing and tells her it’s not the best way to get Johnny to notice her. It might not be but to Alli it’s clearly the most effective. As the girls show up Bruce is asking Johnny if they had sex yet and Johnny shakes his head saying no….but it’s because he REALLY likes her.

Mia asks Peter WHY he picked Kenya. Peter says it’s the hub of Africa and Darcy said….. Mia questions that he’s talking to her….it’s okay…..not….and they get a DVD.

Johnny, Alli, Clare, Bruce and others are sitting around talking. The girls are laughing that the boys thought Animal Farm was actually about Animals however it’s getting late. Clare gets up to leave but Alli tells her she wants to stay….after all Johnny has been keeping his arm around her in front of her friends. Clare relents and heads home to cover for Alli both with Helen since Clare was supposed to sleep over and with Alli’s parents since I’m sure they’ll check in eventually. Reece and some random girl that was sitting with them and comment that she and Johnny are going to do the deed as no one comes to the ravine just to talk. They then go into the van and well…. If you’ve seen season four or read my recaps of it you’ll know what happens next…wink wink nidge nudge. Alli comes back and Bruce leaves them alone. It soon gets dark and Johnny comments about how she thinks they are some epic romance. They then start to make out. Bruce comes back throwing condoms at them playfully telling them no glove no love. She asks if they are going to and Johnny says only if she’s ready. She asks to go someplace private.

Peter pulls out the DVD and it’s not some action movie but it’s about the genocide in Darfur. Peter goes upstairs to get the remote and Mia sees an application for Peter to go away to Kenya.

Alli and Johnny are in the van having sex and she says she should go home. He offers to drive because it’s too late to walk. She’s home and is looking in her mirror to see if she looks different after….. Her mom comes in and says she’s sorry Clare got sick and the sleepover didn’t happen and she hopes the other girl is better for the competition.

The following day Clare sees Alli who is having post virginity loss regret asking if she’s pregnant or has an STD (spoilers she does let one happen though I don’t know if it was from this time). They used a condom but what if it broke….she’s worried. It wasn’t like she’d thought but at the same time it was perfect.

There is one more spot open on Model UN and Mia and Anya take it because Mia is jealous of Peter and Darcy.

Johnny approaches Alli and greets her with her nickname while she asks to know his middle name after all they just had sex it’s the least she should know. It’s George and she nods asking him once again if they were safe before she heads to the competition.

Mia and Anya show up at Model UN shocking Peter meanwhile on the other side of the school the niners are taking their test and Alli bursts out sick. Peter tells Mia he never told her about Kenya because he didn’t want to tell her till he was sure. He loves her but he also loves Darcy.

Alli is in the nurse’s office. The nurse tells her she’s fine but she doesn’t feel it. She tells Clare about how bad she feels after losing her virginity. How can she of did that with a guy she can’t be open and honest to.

The next day it’s announced Clare was in the top 1% of the math tests.

Johnny approaches Alli and gives her a locket….it’s the least he could do. He really cars for her and he did ask if she was ready but she doesn’t want to see him anymore.

Mia doesn’t want to wait for him to choose and Peter says he already did. He’s staying in Toronto…. Love the one you’re with right. Mia points out that’s if you can’t be with the one you love. He tells her it was a poor word choice but while he’ll always have a place in his heart for Darcy he’s falling for her. She doesn’t want to be second choice and dumps him.

Clare coaxes Alli that she should be honest with her feelings with Johnny. Alli nods and tells him she doesn’t want to have sex again for a while because she really would like to still be with him. He admits it was his first time too but he didn’t want to ruin his bad boy image by saying that. He wishes he could change things but not that his first time was with her.
