Jane is waiting outside the school for Lucas to arrive with
the car so that she can go out and take her road test for her license. She
comes home and shows her mom she passed and she’s excited that she did it on
the first try no thanks to Lucas. Her mom doesn’t know what to do with him and
Jane says that maybe if he can spend more time with Isabella he’d change his
life around.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Isabella is over the house helping her grandma decorate a
cake for Jane. She calls her daddy Lucas over to help but Lucas is wrapped up
in video games.
Leia watched four seasons of LOST cause Danny likes it. He
asks if she’d like to hang with him and his friends despite the awkwardness
between her and Mia who’s now Peter’s girlfriend and thus part of the crew. She
asks for a rain check because she has choir practice during lunch and tells
them they can hang for coffee later. Danny and Sav are talking about how he’s
glad he has a girlfriend and is no longer a fifth wheel. Sav nods as Peter
shows up commenting about how the Power Squad is having dinner at McDonalds and
it’s amusing to watch a bunch of skinny girls see who can eat the most
McNuggets (I’m guessing there is purging going on after this but that is just
one person’s opinion) Anyway Danny is jealous that Peter and Sav’s girls are
BFF and ask if one day Leia can tag along. Sav says that Mia’s supposed to
spend the night at Anya’s but with a few lies they could have a triple date
sleepover at Pete’s.
Shep is back at Degrassi after his sensitivity training just
in time for alumni week where there is a student/alumni game. Danny comments to
Jane about how Liberty is studying plays and he can’t believe she’s trying to
one up him again. Jane gets an idea and tells her mom that Lucas should play
for the alumni team. The mom says that maybe Lucas needs to spend time with
their dad and so she’s invited him for a family dinner cause it would be good
for Lucas to spend some time with Isabella and his dad.
Danny is going over the stories to Leia but she’s a bit
worried about the get together and claims that Sav has been flirting with her…..but
it’s cool…..she’ll be there.
Lucas is setting the table and Jane is talking to him. She
wants to remember the way it used to be.
Danny and Leia arrive at the penthouse/loft or whatever that
Peter’s staying in and Sav suggests they watch LOST, more specifically the one
where the ‘Others’ kidnap Walt. Danny asks Leia who her favorite other is and
she says she must of skipped that disk (or let me put on my best Mackenzie
Zales voice and say ‘Leia Chang’s a fucking liar’) Mia doesn’t want to spend
the night seeing TV and Anya suggests truth or dare. Anya dares Leia to wear
her bra outside her shirt all night….she passes but Anya says she will.
The family are having dinner and for all the negative talk
about the dad he looks all put together in a suite so maybe he’s not as much of
a dead beat as it may of appeared to be though at the same time this is
Degrassi so you know there is much more to the story then meets the eye. They
tell him how Lucas is playing for the alumni football team and he’s proud that
both his kids are going to be playing. He asks how Jane’s been and her mom
tells her about her grades and football and how she just passed her driving
test. We now take a trip down memory lane as dad tells of how it took the mom
three times and how he gave her lessons. They would throw the kids in the
backseat and Lucas would always make them stop for burgers. Jane would fall
asleep and they would put her in her pajamas…..Jane then starts tensing up at
the memories….the yellow pajamas that dad got her….no, her mom replies her
grandma got them for her. Jane excuses herself and steps into the hall as she
has a flashback.
She goes to the Dot and asks Spinner what his earliest
memory. He remembers he was four and he didn’t invite Jimmy to his party. Jane’s
earliest memory was when she was eight everything before was a blur. She then
asks if she can loiter while they have the alumni meeting and he tells her sure
so long as she doesn’t spy.
The triple daters are playing truth or dare still. Danny is
break dancing on a dare and Mia is asked truth. The coolest famous person she
met was Timberland. She met him on a shoot and he told her had pretty eyes. She
then asks Leia the same thing and she comments how her dad is a music producer
and Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy is practically her big brother.
Jay, Lucas, Spinner, and Liberty are meeting at the Dot as
Jane is getting shitfaced. Spinner offers to take her home but Lucas does because
he’s her brother.
Danny comments to Peter how his girlfriend isn’t the only
one with famous hook ups and perhaps he could get her to talk Pete into letting
Studz open for Fall Out Boy sometime. Peter just laughs saying that Leia is
lying through her teeth and for starters Pete plays bass and not guitar. Peter
wants her to prove it by having Danny have Leia get them into a sold out show.
Jane and Lucas come home to see her dad is there. They
comment about her being drunk and she thanks him for coming to dinner in a
sarcastic tone. The mom says it’s usually Lucas that’s the rude one.
Danny brings Leia a coffee and tells her how her friends
loved her and want to hang tonight….at the show…she can get them in right? She
says sure.
Jane is in class and flashes back to her parents
conversation where they were talking about how she was five when the dad left
and it was sure that if left scars. She goes to the nurses’ office and curls up
and crys on the cot.
Leia shows up asking the bouncer if they can get in because
she’s friends with Pete. He tells her it seems like everyone is but it’s no
dice. Danny apologizes but Sav and Peter tell her that they didn’t think she’d
do it. Danny tells Sav he’s just jealous because she’s with him and he knows
that they were flirting. Sav asks if she said it and then they all head to Pete’s
to see LOST. Danny can come but not Leia the pathological liar.
Jane is looking at an old photo album and her mom comments
how the photo was taken at Jane’s fourth birthday. Jane can’t remember a thing.
The mom comments about how her dad gave her a doll and she took it everywhere.
She asks how things were and she tells her that Jane and her dad got along
great. She then asks if it’s okay with her if the dad is back in her life because
she wants to try again. Jane comments that she is only there for six months.
Leia tells Danny her dad is really an engineer and she’s
couldn’t even name one Fall Out Boy song. She just couldn’t measure up to Mia
the Model and people lie all the time. She promises she won’t lie to him again.
She really likes him and doesn’t want to lose him.
Jane’s in her room and her dad shows up. He tells her thanks
for letting him stick around and have a second chance. He tells her goodnight
using a nickname from when she was a kid and it triggers a flashback…..TBC
Part two opens where Part one ends….Jane is curled up in the
fetal position the echoes of her father’s voice saying ‘be a good girl
janiebear’ ringing in her head. Jane asks if the dad is still there and the mom
nods and comments that Lucas even got up before noon. Lucas asks if the dad’s
talked to his friend and he did….Lucas is actually manning up and has a job
interview. Jane leaves for practice shrugging off dad’s offer to drive needing
air.
I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH
The squad is practicing and Jane shows up. She asks Mia how
Isabella was after the sleepover at her house and Mia said she was good. She
loves spending time with Jane’s mom and really likes the dad too. Jane is curious
if she’s going to do it again. Mia says it was one night but the mom wants it
to be a regular thing. She then teases Jane about wanting to be the baby of the
house and Jane says no.
Clare is setting up for a clothing drive and Chantey
comments about how it’s very Angelina Jolie of her to want to help others
before commenting on how unfortunate Alli who is walking overs cloths are. Alli
is in her parentally approved ensemble cause her mom went on a cleaning binge
and found her school cloths. She begins to raid through the cloths from the
drive as Clare says they are for charity. She claims she’s a charity case and
as Johnny comments on her look with a raise of his brow Alli declares how her
parents are so out to get her.
Spinner picks up Jane who wants to skip class. Spinner asks
where she wants to go and she comments about how she wants to drive away and
never come back. She hates her dad so much and Spinner says she at least has
one. Jane’s willing to trade any day and Spinner rolls his eyes. That’s not
something that is to be joked about. She decides to go back to class as useless
as it is but he wants her to come to him when she’s ready.
Alli thanks Clare for ciphering out some of Darcy’s old
things from the charity lot for her to have and asks why Clare doesn’t just
wear them because his life would be totally different and it’ll get people to
notice her. We then get a montage of the two girls trying on some of the cloths
and it’s cute. Clare and Alli show up at the Dot and she’s a bit self-conscious.
Peter comments how she looks and asks if it was Darcy’s. She says yes and he
says that it looks much better on Clare and Mia’s face through all this might I
add is priceless. The girls then take a seat and order from Holly J before a
guy slides over to their table. Alli introduces herself but the guy ‘Reece the
Random’ is interested in Clare. She thinks that it was crazy and Alli is pissed
because she wasn’t the center of attention.
Lucas got the security job and starts the next day however
instead of congratulating him she asks why the parents split up before. Lucas
wants to know why she can’t let go….their parents are happy again and he’s got
a job. Lucas said how she never appreciated him…..her and her stupid backwards
pajamas. She gets a shock or realization and leaves saying she’s going to
Spinner’s however she ends up in the park as she sits on a bench putting the
pieces together of how her father molested her as a kid. Curling up on the park
bench and cries spending the night there. Waking up she has six missed calls.
She calls her mom telling her she’ll see her later the mom puts the dad on the
line and she hangs up.
Clare comes down the hall more confident, her hair is pulled
down again like the day before in the Dot and she’s wearing more of Darcy’s
things (unless she went shopping between then and now) Everyone’s looking at
her especially the guys and Alli pulls her aside at the lockers commenting that
she didn’t think she’d always dress like that and that she thought the DOT was
just an experiment….someone is CLEARLY jealous she’s not the center of attention
anymore. Alli comments to Clare asking if she really wants to succeed on her
body more than her brains (hypocritical much Bhandari) and then Alli comments
that now she’s stupid and ugly (in relation to her low self-esteem not about
Clare)
Shep asks Sav and Danny where Jane is and they don’t know.
It’s almost game time and Shep comments that if she’s not here….well she’s an asset
to the team. The boys see Lucas and ask if he’s seen Jane. Lucas says she’s probably
crying. Jane shows up at the Dot looking for Spinner who is already at the
game. She breaks down in front of Holly J saying there is family stuff going on
and she’s going to wait for Spinner.
Alli is solving a problem on the board as KC whispers to
Clare saying how she looked nice. The teacher asks if everyone got the same
answer however Clare points out it can be simplified more causing Alli to be
miffed.
Holly J brings Jane food and is trying to talk to her about
it asking her if she’s going to just hide out all her life.
Alli vents to KC saying how Clare’s already the smartest
girl she doesn’t have to be the prettiest too. KC tells Alli she’s pretty too
and when she asks why Johnny doesn’t notice he tells her guys are dumb
sometimes. Alli vents and KC tells her any guy that doesn’t want to tell their
friends about her is an idiot. She kisses him then pulls back apologizing for
it because it’s wrong.
Jay gives the boys hot dogs, his treat. Jane shows up asking
where her parents are and Lucas pulls her away. Lucas wants to know what her
problem is….and Jane tells him she remembers and wants to know if Lucas knew.
She tells the dad to stay away from Isabella. She remembers everything. He
tells her there is no need to tell stories like before and it was years ago.
Lucas shakes his head saying Jane isn’t lying and to stay away from them.
Johnny comes up to Alli saying he thought she was dating up
but her kiss with KC was all over the school blog. She tells him it meant
nothing and she already apologized to Clare. He tells her he’s a bad guy and
she’s better off and then he tells her it doesn’t matter how she dresses she
always looks good to him.
Jane tells her mom everything which prompts her, Lucas, and
the mom to go to counseling to work through the trauma. Lucas apologizes for
not sticking up for Jane as a kid and she tells him its okay he’s here for her
now.
