7x11 Owner of a Lonely Heart--recap

Marco and Ellie are out at a bar and Ellie is bitching about Jesse, SERIOUSLY she is….I don’t know why I thought I liked her but she’s getting pretty annoying or maybe it’s just the ship that sucks. Anyway Marco is bitching about poor service and heads to the bar to order but not before bumming cash from Ellie. He meets a guy named Devin who tells him that he needs more than a ten to wave to get attention and foots the bill. He also invites Marco to a campus PRIDE event though tells him not to bring Ellie.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Marco is at some sidewalk sale trying to pick out a shirt while Ellie STILL is bitching about Jesse who is apparently looking for Random Play on Facebook and making constant updates. Don’t quote me but I think that aside from the Clare ‘Asher’ plot in season 12 where Twitter is mentioned this is one of the few if not only other times that an actual social media name us used. They use MyRoom instead of MySpace and in later years Facebook becomes facerange and we even meet the Mark Zuckerburg of the Degrassi-verse in Darrin Howe. Back on topic Ellie wishes Marco told her they were going to the Cabaret night and Marco tells her he was going alone to put himself back on the market. He then asks if she’ll pay for the shirt and she says it’s the least she can do for making him listen to her relationship drama.

Jay is hanging out off campus and sees Manny. She asks how her dad is and tells her too keep the cash she’d promised him for fixing the car and being her escort. Her dad comes to pick her up and Jay offers him a free oil change.

At the event Devin is a big spender while Eric is a busboy at the club. Marco excuses himself to talk to him and apologizes for the awkward set up Ellie made and they set a coffee date. A guy asks Marco to dance however he turns him down telling Devin how his ex was a hot blonde. Devin tells of his own exes and how he misses their money. Devin then invites Marco to an exclusive club.

Manny tells Emma that she plans to apply to Drama schools and get scholarships so that her dad can’t say no. Also, it helps that Jay is her ace in the hole to get what she wants. Emma teases Manny asking if she has feelings for Jay. Manny admits she might and that they plan to go pick her dad’s car up from the garage and have a bite to eat.

Eric and Marco are on their coffee date and Eric mentions the caller ID still says Dylan since the phone is still under his name but aside from that they are over. They talk but as Marco soon relays to his roommates he’s lame and likes Jazz. Marco plans to go to the club and have fun however Ellie refuses to spot him any more cash.

After Jay and Manny’s dinner, Jay walks her to the door and they share a goodnight kiss. Mr. Santos sees it and thought things were different. Manny blurts out that Jay just proposed.

Marco can’t afford the cover and Devin tells him he needs big money to play with him.

Manny’s parents want to know if something is up like if this is a shotgun wedding cause Manny is with child. It’s not and Manny assures them that they just want to seriously get to know one another and it’ll be a long engagement.

Marco shows up to Eric asking for help getting a busboy job. He then draws what’s left of his cash and gambles it on horse races which is his father’s gambling drug of choice.

Jay shows up and gives Manny a real engagement ring telling her they should do this after all he’d be her golden ticket to freedom and she’d be giving him the three things he loves, a hot girlfriend, fake commitment and free food.

Marco asks Devin how he pays for his partying life and he tells Marco he’ll show him. He takes Marco out with him and it turns out that Devin is a gay male prostitute hooking up.

Jay is over for a meal and a priest shows up. It’s not too early for premarital council…and for Jay to become catholic according to Manny’s parents.

Ellie asks how Devin is and Marco tells her about last night how Devin is a prostitute and how he almost was too. Ellie tells her most gay men not that sleazy….like Eric cause while boring she’s still rooting for the two guys to get together. Speaking of Eric, he’s gotten Marco an interview and if he gets the job his first check has Ellie’s name all over it. He just wanted to be confident and loved again.
