6x07 Working for the Weekend:

Darcy apologizes to Spinner for the breakup it was the right thing to do and she hopes they can still be friends.  Spinner seems sad that she’s saying this when didn’t HE break up with HER cause of the pictures….I mean I know it was just last episode and it’s been maybe a day, day in a half for me between viewing Eyes Without a Face and this but….yea.

So Spinner goes into Simpson’s class just squeaking by and there is a special guest. The guidance counselor is letting them know the results of their career aptitude tests are in. Jimmy got Criminal Lawyer while Ashley got Criminal Law. They talk about going to NYU for Law school and maybe opening up a practice together one day. Spinner’s isn’t as ambitions….his first choice career is Clown though for foreshadowing purpose it’s important to note his second choice is Police Officer and later on he does try to get into the academy.

WHATEVER IT TAKES…..

Jimmy comments about not wanting a sad sack in his designs. Spinner reads him a rather depressing poem he wrote about the break up then asks Jimmy what about the artist dream. He says he woke up and that being a Lawyer is more practical a career. Ashley comments that Paige is in town and that they all planned to hang out at Marcos and how Spinner should come and move on.

Alex is back at Degrassi despite graduating last season taking a victory lap to get her GPA up to get into post-secondary. Some of the girls are teasing her for being at the school. Honestly I thought they were going to just go and re-hash this plot with Dallas and have him walk with the graduates but then come back and not have him bee a true blue second year senior.

The graduates and second year seniors are hanging out at Marco and Ellie’s Paige comments on the shirts and Jimmy’s design. Marco comments about how he’s been trying to coax Jimmy to sell them however it’s not practical.

The next day Spinner is all too enthusiastic to start a business. He’s got some money saved from his job at the Dot and he’s sure Marco’s dad can get them a deal on the printing. His thought is that the money from the shirts would help pay for Law school for Jimmy however Jimmy informs Spinner he has an academic fund already saved up and let’s face it….even with the costs of all his PT the Brooks family is pretty well off. Ashley gives Jimmy a pouty look and he cracks like thin ice telling Spinner fine he’s in.

Miss H comments about how good Alex is doing and Alex comments that if she wants to get into a school to study physical therapy she needs to up her marks. Miss H tells her that extra circulars would look good on her university applications and suggests she try out for lacrosse.

Montage of the boys making/selling their shirts on the university campus and around time. They start to talk about expanding their business….mail order, setting up stands at concerts……Spinner then sees a store front and thinks that’s the ticket to the big leagues. He has his Dot money and knows he won’t be using it for Clown College and says Jimmy can surely skim some of his school money too.

Alex and Paige are talking. Paige asks Alex how things are back at Degrassi and if the students are shaking in their boots. She tells them no they are jealous of her academics and comments about joining a team. Paige is impressed that big bad Alex would join a team and she tells Paige she’s trying to be sweeter these days.

Ellie and Marco are trying to study however Spinner turns on the radio to do work. Marco asks why they can’t work someplace else and he says he’s working on it. Jimmy’s dad comes to pick him up and he pitches the idea of a shop to him asking to dip into his fund. His dad says the shirts are good but he can’t afford to waste his money on a pipe dream. He goes to wait in the car and Jimmy tells Spinner screw it he’s eighteen and doesn’t need his father to sign off and so they end up investing into the shop. At the grand opening Jimmy comments about being able to fund art school and Ashley is all WHAT however she’s not pissed she’s happy for him so long as they are together.

Alex joins the team and the mean girls who were laughing at her are on it.

After the first day the group closes up the shop and is impressed at how much they made until Dylan gives them the reality check that they have fees to pay and haven’t made quite so much.

The lacrosse team is playing.

Spinner and Jimmy are at the store and Jimmy comments about how Spinner has marked up the shirts in an effort to make more. Jimmy wonders if this pipe dream wasn’t a good idea after all.

Alex tells Serena the mean girl that Miss H said they need to get along for the team. Alex is trying to be nice and Serena tells her no she’s a hateful bitch and will never change. They start to scuffle but Alex gets called into the office.

Jimmy is in the shop changing tags when a couple of guys come in to rob them. Spinner who walked out to get coffee comes in to see what’s going on and goes into crime fighter mode apprehending the guys and getting the cash box.

Alex tells Serena that she got a weeks’ worth detention.  Serena kindly reminds Alex about how two years ago Alex almost blinded her with a laser pointer and tripped her so bad that she broke her leg. She tells her that she made her life hell and the worst part is she doesn’t even remember the pain she’s inflected.

The cops are writing a report on the robbery telling the boys they need to get a venders license before they re-open. Jimmy tells them thanks but they are going to stay closed. Spinner tells Jimmy he’d kill to have talent and Jimmy points out that Spinner has talent of his own. Jimmy’s dad shows up at the scene and looks pissed. Jimmy’s worried about his reaction when he hears how they got the money for rent.
