Before I go on I just want
to say this episode I know is triggering to allot of people I know and so I
will try my best to scale back on the sarcastic jibes that are interlaced with
my recaps….
The episode opens with
Ellie at a base as her father is being deployed to Afghanistan on a piece
keeping mission. Looking over to her mom her dad comments she’ll be fine she
has things under control hinting that something isn’t right with her. As Ellie
tells her it will be all right her mom coldly tells her to just shut up smile
and wave.
WHATEVER IT TAKES…..
The following day Ashley
approaches Ellie asking how she is after her dad was deployed. Ellie says
calmly that he’s in the Army and deployment happens. Ashley asks if she wants
to go to a movie to get her mind off of things however she has her interview
for her co-op after school. What is a co-op you ask? Well from what I’ve
gathered watching the show it’s Canadian or at least Degrassi speak for student
internship. Ellie’s excited yet nervous to interview to work with Caitlin
however she’s sure Paige will get it.
On the other side of campus
Hazel and Terri arrive at Terri’s locker where a single rose is waiting. It’s apparent
that Terri has a secret admirer and this isn’t his first time leaving things.
Hazel asks Terri if she should ask her tarot cards who it is however she says
it doesn’t work like that. At Terri’s rate she thinks it’s the Janitor however
she hopes its Rick (and so this arch begins).
Paige is going on about how
she knows she’s going to ace her interview as class soon begins and Armstrong
gives a pop quiz to which Ellie fails. At lunch Marco is commenting about how
Armstrong lied he’d done the homework but the test was brutal and Ellie
comments that he got a B+ and how the quiz won’t affect the average. Marco
looks across the café and sees Dylan and excuses himself as Paige arrives.
Paige comments how it must suck for Ellie to see her ex dating her (Paige’s)
brother. Before Ellie can comment back however the guidance counselor arrives giving
Ellie and Paige forms to sign and telling Ashley congrats on a record company
job but that school comes first. Paige slips on glasses and is reading her
interview questionnaire and leans over to look at Ellie’s spilling juice on
Ellie and causing her white shirt to be all stained leaving Ellie to come to
the interview in a rain slicker.
Hazel is pushing Terri to
go talk to Rick but she’s nervous. Hazel calls Manny and asks for a second
opinion. Toby soon arrives and begins to act all creepy stalkers toward Terri
and Hazel suggests maybe it’s him who is her admirer.
Ellie arrives home to see
her mom lying lucidly on the couch watching game shows surrounded by empty liquor
bottles. Cleaning up Ellie prepares the take out she picked up and tells about
her day but her mom just complains about the food’s smell. Ellie heads up to
her room to work and listens as her mother is puking in the bathroom. She knocks
down her pencil box and sees her protractor just lying on the floor. Picking it
up she proceeds to cut her arm.
The following day at school
Paige is gushing about her interview as Ellie tells Marco she totally bombed
things. Before class starts however the councilor arrives letting Ellie know
she got the job.
Ashley is joking to Terri
about how her brother likes her and how Terri is going to be her sister in law.
Toby approaches again and is all creepy.
Ellie arrives at Caitlin’s
and says how she idolizes her and plans on doing whatever she wants and needs.
Ellie gets assigned her first piece.
Cut to a montage of Ellie
working at the co-op, talking to her dad, and cutting all while her mom is just
drunk and depressed.
The montage ends and Ellie
is running late for school. She’s been late twice already that week and three
times the week before and if she keeps it up she’ll loose her placement.
Getting a late slip she heads to the girls room in tears. Reaching into her bag
she grabs her protractor and starts to cut when she jumps. Paige walks in and
notices Ellie bleeding. Making an excuse she walks out and Paige follows confronting
her and says she needs to talk to someone.
Terri asks Toby if he left
the rose. Toby told him he’s been stalking her because he’d been doing a report
on ESP and Ashley told him she was physic.
Ellie walks by where Paige
was waiting for the councilor where she was going to talk about Ellie. Ellie claims
Paige just wants to sabotage her and Paige says she cares and asks Ellie to
show her her arm. Ellie finally shows Paige her cuts as she begins to cry.
Terri watches as Rick puts
the rose on her locker as he was her admirer. He admits he did it because he
was shy and she admits she is shy too.
Ellie talks to the councilor
and apologizes for wasting her time and is told just admitting you have a problem
is the first step and they schedule another appointment.
