2x04 Karma Chameleon RECAP

Not to be confused with episode 12x35/36 Karma Police the episode opens with Paige talking about a party to Hazel and Jimmy as Ashley and Terri walk by. Ashley says cool and Paige blows up at her saying how it’s funny how something can be cool one year and not the next then blows up at Ashley about taking Ecstasy at the end of the year. Ashley is sad and wants her friends back.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Paige is talking about how she wants to look good for picture day as she enters the computer lab with Hazel. She sees Ellie (New Character) sitting at a computer and asks her to move so that Hazel can sit next to her. Elli won’t budge. Ashley approaches saying she and Paige were friends since Grade 2 to which Paige asks if it was an apology or a math lesion. Ashley claims she was stupid but Paige thinks it was too little too late.

Meanwhile Toby is gushing about anime as he walks the halls with JT, Manny and Emma. JT and the girls tease him for his nerdy obsession and soon the girls wander off to Craig as Toby claims he’ll be the first Jewish Monk. Side note I wish that they did more with Toby being Jewish like in season 1 or 2 when he turned 13 to have a Bar Mitzvah episode cause though the years they’ve done other cultural coming of age ceremonies such as Manny’s Debut. I think the only other Jew we’ve had was Eli and even then he’s an atheist however with a Jewish sounding last name and his sporadic usage of Yiddish phrasing it is mildly implied he is and I’m so going off topic.

The freshman are in Science class and it’s the first appearance of Miss H. She’s talking about chemistry and peroxide and its slight foreshadowing cause Jimmy and Spinner are in the class and guess who’s hair is bleached blonde by season’s end? After class Ashley goes to Jimmy apologizing for the party and saying how she spent summer at counseling sessions. Jimmy says he missed her and for the moment fences seem mended.

Toby asks Simpson for Anime CD however he claims he forgot and gave it to someone else….Meet Kendra, Degrassi’s only other anime fan. Toby isn’t a monk anymore and they set a date to exchange the CD.

Jimmy, Spinner, Paige and Hazel talk about letting Ashley back however Paige doesn’t want to. She just can’t trust her and has the sinking feeling they are being played.

Ashley is short for lunch and Sean pays the difference. She thanks him and is sorry for any awkwardness caused by their kiss and they agree to be friends.

Craig asks Sean what the deal is between him and Ashley and he explains about the party.

Ashley is looking for a picture day outfit after school with Terri and is on cloud nine. Everyone seems to like her again and she hopes life can be normal. Sean soon calls asking her out and she says yes much to Terri’s dismay as she asks what Jimmy would think and Ashley says it’s not like she and Jimmy are dating. Well….tell it to him who just assumed that saying I missed you and I’m sorry means we are back together….AWKWARD! Anyway Ashley says Terri wouldn’t understand things cause she’s never had a boyfriend prompting Terri to leave.

Spinner confronts Toby. He has major issues with the fact that they are hanging out….Why? Because Kendra is his adoptive sister and she’s in GRADE SEVEN.

Paige and Terri are in the hall and Terri mentions what Ashley said the night before and how she’s going out with Sean. Paige is all I told you so and is out to expose Ashley telling Jimmy about the date.

Toby goes to Kendra for a bit despite Spinner’s warning but in seeing him in the hall he quickly backs off.

Jimmy confronts Sean saying to stay away from Ashley all possessive only to in turn tell Ashley in the following scene to stay away from him and calls her a slut…..HARSH

During the Junior High pictures Toby moons over Kendra from afar but doesn’t come to talk.

Paige and Hazel push Ashley away and give Terri and ultimatum…..Ashley or us!

Kendra hands Toby the disk asking what’s up and calls him a coward when she realizes he missed the meeting and is all passive because he’s scared of Spinner.

Ashley asks Sean to postpone their date and Sean tells her to just forget it. Elli is looking on and comments that it was harsh.

Toby stands up to Spinner who is impressed and tells him to NEVER break his sister’s heart.

The freshmen take pictures and Terri joins Paige and Hazel. The Episode Ends with Ashley taking a picture all sad faced in an oversized sweatshirt. Take a good look at Ashley because this is the last you’ll see of her looking this way until the season five finale.
