1x10 Rumors and Reputation:

This episode begins with Emma going to turn in a paper to Coach Armstrong however as she gets to the classroom she sees him in there with Liberty. The coach is leaning in closely to the student and Emma thinks something is up between the two of them.

WHATEVER IT TAKES…..

Emma is in the quad looking at Sean. JT comments about how she’s being obvious about her crush on him. Emma doesn’t confirm or deny her feelings she instead brings up what she saw earlier. Well not in so many words but she asks JT what he thinks about Armstrong. JT comments about how he’s nice he is and he’s always helping him out when he has problems in Math. Emma nods in agreement commenting he is nice to everyone and seems like she’s going to drop it however then she watches Armstrong hand Liberty a note and her conspiracy theory perks up again.

At Lunchtime Spinner teases the Lunch Lady and then pulls out a bug from his plate. He comments about the bug and people say he’s lying. He goes to prove them but the bug has flown off the plate and got squished.  The Lunch Lady yells at him and tells him he still must pay for his meal.

Emma is talking to Manny in the bathroom and asks Manny if Armstrong has ever touched her. Manny is in shock with the question and she says how she saw him talking to Liberty and he had her hand on her knee and later handed her a note. As she’s talking Teri overhears.

Spinner still wants to boycott the café despite being yelled at by the Lunch Lady. Kwan tells him to stop making up false accusations with no proof and Spinner brings up about how the bug was squished.

In class Paige asks Teri what’s wrong and she tells her about Liberty and Armstrong.  Armstrong steps in to start the class and Paige reaches for her phone during the lecture to text Hazel. This is her first appearance and she will recur in a few more episodes this season and then become a regular until season five. Anyway so Hazel begins to talk on the phone about it and Sean overhears and the rumor begins to spread like wildfire and eventually gets basterdized into being that Liberty and Armstrong are having sex.

There is a student council meeting where Liberty brings up a Talent Show (Guess what happens a few episodes later kiddies?)  and despite debating long and hard about it the last time it was apparently brought up Ashley is quick to green light it. After the meeting she asks about Armstrong and asks if the rumors are true. Liberty is just hearing it and as she hears the other students talking about it she runs to the bathroom. Emma follows her into the room and Liberty says nothing is going on. Emma wants to get to the bottom of who started this vicious rumor not knowing that she was the one that she did so.

It’s Lunchtime again and Spinner is all well they wouldn’t believe me but thinks if someone else finds a bug then surely the lunch lady will be fired.

As Spinner plots his wicked plan, Emma gets the realization that she spread the rumor and wants to make it right

Spinner ends up putting bugs in Ashley’s food as she’s the president so they’d HAVE to believe her, however he gets caught for doing this and things don’t go as planned.

During Math Class Armstrong calls on Liberty and the room fills with snickers however before something is said the Principal shows up with a sub calling for Armstrong and Liberty to go to the office to talk about what’s been said. Emma shows up to the principal’s office shortly after as she must have managed to get a pass or something from the sub and says she can explain what is going on.

We find out the punishment for Spinner’s crime is he now has to work in the lunchroom he loathes so much for two months…..hairnet and all.

Emma and Liberty have a heart to heart in the bathroom about the conversation.  Liberty asks if Emma wants to see the infamous note. Handing Emma the note it says that Liberty has Dyscalculia which is Dyslexia but with numbers. It pains Liberty because she’s a type A persona who wants to do the best and how can she be the best if she’s not good at Math. Emma is apologetic and asks if she can help and Liberty comments that no offence but Emma’s helping sucks as the episode ends with her storming out.
