14x08: Hush

Once again for the third episode in a row the sub plot is about how depressed Miles has become...and the character arch keeps dragging and dragging. The opening scene is Frankie and Hunter waking a sleeping and presumably stoned or hung over Miles saying that he needed to drive them to school. Frankie calls him out asking if he's moody cause Tristan is mad or hung over he says he's just tired. Miles Jr soon comes in and snaps at his eldest saying to get over it. He relents and gets up as Frankie grabs his stash of pot...she'll give it back if he promises not to light up until after they get to school.

The power squad is questioning who has sent them the texts and Zoe admits she'd gotten messages from this person before. She tells the girls Semi's are that they and they need to focus however Jack asks how can they focus if they get arrested for child porn. Zoe knows someone who can hack the IP and Jack says the squad will go with them.

Becky and Jonah are practicing and it's making me sit vigil that she'll be a replacement or tour lead for Anastasia or one of the Frozen sisters and neither show has even opened on Broadway yet.
Anyway, the duo wind up writing a verse and Jonah proposes they play open mic at the Dot.

Miles is ready to redo the presentation however Tristan is still pissy...he soon relents saying if Miles keeps the uniform all day he'll crack.

Zoe takes the squad to the remedial wing of the school to talk to Grace...they tell her to help them she's their only hope and so she takes Lola's phone to try and run diagnostics to track the IP. The message was sent from a cell tower by the Hollingsworth home and at first they think it's Frankie cause she was never on board with Degrassi nudes...but she's not the confrontational type and Miles has been out of it so that leaves Hunter.

Drew approaches Becky in class and Becky asks for Drew to be her personal thesaurus so that she can finish the song for open mic...Drew is slightly jealous of Jonah because as a guy he assumes that Jonah has alterior motives as guys and girls can't be just friends.

The twins, Winston, and Tristan corner Miles in a class room because they want to talk about his marijuana habit or what according to Frankie what Miles calls 'breakfast' Miles again says pot isn't the problem people are and Frankie is too young and naive to get it and Tristan betrayed his trust and is just codependent and desperate.

Becky and Jonah continue to practice their new song and you can feel the tension...Becky can feel the tension and tries to leave. She tells him she has a boyfriend and doesn't want to fool around. He tells her that he's done the bad boy thing but has recently found god and just wants to make good music.

Miles just wants to leave campus ASAP and backs into Maya as he's pulling out. He takes Maya to her doctors appointment most likely cause he wrecked her bike though I feel there was some B roll that got cut. She admits she's seeing the doctor part cause of her worry for him and part due to her own personal anxiety. She goes to the appointment and Miles once again takes a toke.

Hunter is in a classroom studying when the power cheer squad confronts him and accuses him about blackmailing them. They don't find things about Degrassi nudes but they see see the comic and tell him that he'll not send them messages if they don't show his comic to Simpson. Hunter promises and they go to semis.

Miles is parked in the car, blasting his music and ignoring his calls. Maya is surprised he waited and he says he'd rather wait for her then be at school.

The girls perform and totally rock at semis.

Becky says how it was awkward with Jonah cause all she can think about is if he's trying to flirt with her despite what he said before. Drew is still jealous of Jonah and doesn't trust a man in eye makeup. Becky says that if he's jealous he should stay away from the Dot cause they are going to rock.

The girls won Semi's and Zoe is relieved as the day could of gone so different if she relented and quit like the blackmailer wanted.

Miles is driving really show and Maya asks if he's weirded out knowing that she's in therapy then she calls him out for being stoned. He starts speeding up and then clips the door off a parked car and continues to drive. He can't go back cause if they get arrested it will be a DUI and his father will kill him this close to the election.

Becky and Jonah sing the duet at the Dot and Drew shows up and is impressed. He formally introduces himself to Jonah and says that his jealous streak is over howver it's clear Jonah wants more.

Hunter tells Arliene that he had no clue what the girls were talking about and he just said he'd stop to shut them up. Arliene says whatever happens the girls deserve it which makes me think she was the blackmailer (honestly as I write the recaps it's my first time re-watching this season since it aired)
