Degrassi Goes Hollywood:Recap

While I am tagging the previous episode as the season finale this movie can alternately be known as 8x19-22 Paradise City though for arguments sake I’m just going to list Danger Zone as the finale…. Anyway since this is two hours (probably about an hour and a half ish on the DVD since it’s without ad breaks) this may be lengthy. Also this is the first and for Ellie, and Craig last time you’ll see some older characters which have been absent since season seven (Marco appears next season while Paige appeared in a webisode during the back end of season eleven)

Anyway the movie begins with some scenery porn of California (I don’t remember if its location shots or stock footage but it’s stunning) Paige is on the phone with Marco gushing about her life as a Hollywood Stylist. He wants to visit but she tells him she’s swamped with clients….. though by client she really means a Diva starlet named Hailey who’s a part of the show ‘The Shores’ which is an inverse take on the Hills (despite Anya implying that the Hills is an actual show in-verse) to whom Paige acts as a personal assistant AkA glorified maid to. Hailey asks how her ‘acting’ is on the show and Paige tells her its reality TV. Hailey asks if she can help her with an outfit for some party…..for her dog. Paige picks up her cell and tells Marco….yea totally not the best time for a visit as the dog ends up taking a piss on her.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

Shep gives Jay the keys to the schools bus for him to work on over break. Peter teases about how Shep trusts him with the keys before Shep goes on the PA to announce that if students are looking for something to do over the cold winter break that Friend of Degrassi Kevin Smith is looking for actors and musicians for a movie. Peter, Sav, and Danny fan boy and wonder if Studz should try out. It’s here I just want to ramble and wonder if they have Christmas off as a standalone pair of days with Winter Break taking place in early-mid January cause granted yes the episodes were filmed not around Christmas but you’d think there’d be holiday decor around and that the teens parents would want them to celebrate the holiday with them and not on a trip….end rant. Anya asks Mia if she’d be interested in trying out being a big shot model….no but she wouldn’t mind meeting Michael Ray who is the star of the film and totally her celeb crush.

At Smithdale, Manny is reading a monologue however her professor is critiquing her harshly telling her she’s not serious and she isn’t going to make it. He’s trying to get her mad so she’ll naturally cry during the scene. He dismisses the class but calls Manny back and once everyone leaves he starts making out with her. Oh look another clichéd student/teacher relationship though Manny is such a hypocrite if you look back at season four. The Prof asks if she’s on for dinner but she says she’s going to the Kevin Smith lecture with her friends…..but if he doesn’t want her to go she can cancel. He tells her no, go, he has papers to grade. At the lecture Manny asks if she should go however a now Blonde again Emma asks if its cause the Prof didn’t want her to be there. Manny says he doesn’t control her and then the Prof shows up cause if Kevin cast Manny he must be a big deal.

Hailey is hurrying Paige because the dog has an appointment as she’s upset that she never got the call about the movie. Paige says she can get her in with Kevin and Jason if she helps boost her stylist career. Hailey tells her it’s a deal…yea right.

Kevin and Jason are talking about how Jason is making his film debut with Mewsical High which is what this whole episode is set around. Manny and Mick the prof are talking and Kevin hushes her before realizing its Manny and calling her up to the stage. After the show Kevin tells Manny he and Jason were looking for her but her agent said she’s not taking any auditions. Manny says she can’t in her program and Emma declares that’s just what her professor is telling her. Emma and Kelly tilt toward where Mick is waiting and they tell her they are having a cattle call at Degrassi and she HAS to be there.

At Degrassi, Jason Mewes and Michael Ray Aka Michael Seater from Life With Derek Fame (which I swear as of season thirteen only Ashley Leggat and the actors who played Edwin and Marti are the only principals not to be on Degrassi yet though I could be wrong cause the mom is Fiona’s mom, the dad is Miles’s dad and Lizzie was Adam) Anyway back on track they are talking about the girls around there as they are smiling over toward Anya and Mia. It’s Studz’s turn to audition and they start to sing though Michael is too distracted by Mia. Though it doesn’t matter because the band got the gig and they’ll see them in LA.

Paige got Hailey the audition and Paige is ready to be paid back and she will be….after Hailey nails the audition. Paige listens to her as she’s practicing but she’s tone deaf. She says musicals are dumb and no one watches them….yea right.

Emma tells Manny she’s going to be amazing. Manny nods however her cell rings and its Mick. He’s mad that she skipped out on class to go to the audition and hells her she’s just setting herself up for failure. Manny auditions and chokes (cue up Don’t Rain on my Parade from episode 3x18 of Glee yet again) Michael says she’s not going to get better to just kill the audition and Jason says he’ll get back to her. The waiting people are told the audition is over and a waiting Alli is upset as Jason consoles Michael telling him he so thought Manny was his ‘Trixie’ Michael then spots Mia and goes to get his flirt on while the boys are all excited about going to Hollywood…. Perhaps they’ll meet Ben Affleck he was the bomb in Phantoms however their celebration is cut short as Peter sucker punches Michael who informs him that he wants to sleep with Mia. Michael claims he was just method acting to get into Jason’s personality and the band is now off the movie.

Hailey is upset. It was just a cattle call Jason wasn’t there. Paige asks what about her and Hailey tells her how she’s a horrible assistant and should have been fired ages ago before freaking out about where her palm pilot is. She left it in the building and asks Paige to fetch it and if she doesn’t she’s fired and will NEVER work in this town again. Paige sighs and goes to get it. Inside the room the producer is complaining he has yet to find the Jersey Girl next door when Paige comes in. He asks her to say her name and the part she’s reading for….no, she couldn’t possibly…”Hi my name is Paige and I’ll be reading for Trixie” I guess she can….

In Canada, Emma, Kelly, and Manny are at Emma’s where they still have the dog, and Manny comments how Mick was right, she blew it. There is a beep on her computer and Kevin wants to Skype chat. He asks why she isn’t going to LA to re-audition. There is a week left before the shoot starts and he knows she IS Trixie and that’s what recasts are for.

The Producer shows Jason, Paige’s real and he shakes his head. He knows her she’s that lesbian who was left on the cutting room floor of Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian Eh! He’s glad he knows her and they already have a relationship because he’s casting her for the role even though Jason the director is set against it.

Paige is out walking Hailey’s dog when a limo pulls up. She asks if he’s looking for Hailey but he shakes his head asking Paige if she’ll be Mewsical High’s prom queen. Paige is in shock and instantly pulls her phone to call Marco telling him if he still wants to visit this would be the perfect time. Paige heads to the back yard where Hailey is talking to one of her friends about an altercation she had with Shanae Grimes AKA the actress who played Darcy who left the show to go to the CW and the fourth wall breaks and we have one of many meta moments as various cast members make it big. She notices Paige standing there with her dog who isn’t dressed for cocktails yet. Paige asks if she remembers the audition for the Jason Mewes movie. Hailey is ecstatic asking if she got the part….no, but Paige did and don’t worry about her cause production is housing her in Beverly Hills. Hailey tells her that the town is tougher than it looks. Paige doesn’t care and vows to never be a Diva biatch like her…..good luck with that. On the limo ride to her new pad, Paige is on the phone with Marco who is still in snowy Toronto. She can’t wait till he and Ellie get there….it’s going to be amazing. Paige takes her first steps on the studio lot and heads to the set. She can’t believe this is for real. She heads toward Jason who is bitching to Kevin via Skype how he doesn’t want Paige but she’s who the producer wants. Paige gives Jason an awkward hello after listening in.

Ellie is at the paper office as one of the girls asks again if she wants to join her ski-ing in Whistler for break. Ellie says she can’t she’s working however Marco shows up saying that he’s got tickets for them to go to LA. The girl from the paper tells Ellie her mom is calling from the hospital and Marco asks what’s what. Ellie says it’s nothing her mom just does volunteer work and she’ll call her back….from the airport however it’s clear as day that there is something going on that Ellie doesn’t want to say….something that will be revealed by movie’s end and ultimate close out an arch that began way back in SEASON THREE.

Emma and Manny are trying to figure out how to get Manny to LA. Spinner says she can always hitch a ride with the guys cause Peter wants to try to win them back their slot after sucker punching Michael to lose it. Emma tells Peter Manny is going on the ‘guys’ trip cause Peter owes it to her after showing her boobs to the school back in SEASON FIVE. Yep what can I say it’s continuity city. Peter says he’s cool but he has to ask the driver AkA Jay, AkA Manny’s ex who is still deeply and passionately in love with her. Manny shakes her head saying there is no way she’s riding with him.

Paige shows up to lunch with the producer. She admits she’s new to Hollywood and asks who calls the shots. He tells her the director….but he has the power of veto. Paige nods saying she has to go to the airport but not before having drinks with Tim Rosen who is acting in another movie the producer is working on. Tim is/was also a star of one of the other shows on The-N back at the time of the episode’s airing (I believe it was sister show Instant Star but don’t quote me)

Marco and Ellie are waiting for Paige at LAX as Marco ponders what celeb they should become BFF with. He wants Taylor Kitch however Ellie’s attention is drawn to a solider returning home to meet his family as she gets teary. Marco asks if she’s okay and she lies commenting it’s the dry LA air that’s tearing her up. Paige arrives apologizing she’s late but was held up at lunch with the producer. The trio of them take a limo and head out to see the sights. Marco swears he sees Ashton Kutcher in front of the Chinese Theater but it’s just a butch looking lesbian. He’s then approached by a couple of drag queens who call him out saying Ashton hasn’t worn the trucker hat in ages but that they love Marco’s hat….it was awkward yet humorous at the same time. The trio arrive at Paige’s new place and the friends are fascinated. Marco always knew Paige was destined for great things while Ellie on the other hand didn’t know Paige could act.

Emma drags Manny to the garage looking for Jay. Jay hears Manny’s voice and is shocked to hear it cause she won’t talk to him. Emma tells him if he still cares convince her to go to LA with him. He tells her he’s got the wheels, GPS maps and a tank of gas.

Paige is doing a seventeen shoot and Marco is fan boying about it. Paige comments asking if she has to wear the dress they have her in. One of the stylists call her a Diva however after she points out that another dress that’s hanging on the rack would suite her body type much better the other stylist couldn’t help but agree and comments her on her keen eye.

Emma can’t believe Emma’s going to LA as Manny comments that she hopes she doesn’t kill Jay first. Kelly comments that Jay is much better than the professor and speak of the devil Mick appears. He takes Manny to the Dot and tells her that she failed like he knew she would and she’s just not ready for professional work….up Mick darling, Manny was not only in one of Kevin’s movies before BUT she gave up a plum role on West Drive just to go to Smithdale in the first place. Manny tells him Kevin wants her to try again but he thinks she’s deluding herself and she’s still just the untalented girl her crawled out of his bed that morning and that he doesn’t know how she bribed her way into the program but she doesn’t deserve it. He tells her to not come crawling back when she fails and as she leaves Manny’s day goes from bad to worse as Spinner announces he just got off the phone with Marco and Paige just landed the role of Trixie.

Paige is in rehearsal however both Michael and Jason don’t like her and keep complaining. Jason tells the producer yes she has the look but she’s not cutting it in the acting department. A distraught Paige comes back to the house she’s being put up at and is running lines again and again with Marco however Ellie is getting annoyed. Paige thinks her acting career is over before it began. Ellie points out the last time she acted was grade ten but Paige corrects her saying grade twelve. I don’t remember when in season five Paige acted unless she counts the summer before that grade when she acted on the movie that year. Anyway she wants comfort food and asks if Ellie could run to the Canadian shop to get some bacon and maple syrup…..um I’m sure Ellie could of just gotten them at Trader Joe’s but whatever….

Peter is lighting candles at the DOT as Spinner comments they are a fire hazard….foreshadowing for the next movie perhaps (though that fire was by way of Panini machine not candle flame but still) Every candle counts and he just wants to do something for Mia since she has a shoot and he has a road trip. She tells him her shoot was postponed and Isabella is spending time with Mia’s mom and she’s sure the guys would understand.

Ellie’s looking for the Canadian shop when she hears a familiar voice. It’s Craig Manning in the Flesh along with Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy Fame (maybe the name drop in Jane Says Part one was a foreshadowing moment….is he even Canadian cause I thought you had to be to be on Degrassi….but then again Jason and Kevin aren’t they are just fan boys so maybe that rule doesn’t apply to guest stars) and Casadee Pope then of Hey Monday who went on to win the voice (which apparently isn’t an amateur competition cause not only did she win but a former Moueketeer Tony Luca was on the show. Also unless she’s a duel citizen somehow she’s totally not Canadian cause she either went to school with a cousin of mine in South Florida I don’t know if was just the same school or if they were in the same class…..) Anyway they were leaving the shop cause Craig got Pete addicted to Ketchup Chips (got I wish Lays didn’t discontinue making them in the states they are TOTAL crack) Craig asks why he didn’t call and she tells him ‘we’ just got to town. Craig asks who the ‘We’ is and Ellie explains that she and Marco are in town visiting Paige. Craig invites the trio to come to his show as a doe eyed Ellie comments how good he looks. He’s been clean and sober for over a year and as he talks Pete and Casadee clearly see the history between these two.

Paige is working on filming a musical number however she’s having a major panic attack. Marco is laughing commenting how they should have been filming a blooper real. Paige calls him out saying that she’s having a panic attack and how she thought this would be fun but Ellie doesn’t want to go to set and he (Marco) thinks it is a joke and if she fails she’ll be back to waiting on Hailey’s dog. Paige gets a call from the Producer and rolls her eyes telling Marco she’s probably being fired so enjoy it while you can. Paige leaves and Ellie’s mom calls him.

Manny’s crying to Emma and Kelly at the Dot cause Paige got the part and it’s hopeless, she’s hopeless as Emma picks up Manny’s phone. It’s Jason who wants Manny to know that Paige sucks and he REALLY wants her as Trixie. Emma tells her to get her bum on the bus.

The producer asks Paige how she did it. Paige doesn’t know what he’s talking about….he shows her the seventeen cover she snagged and comments how good of PR it is before inviting her to a big party.

Ellie bursts into the mansion asking Marco to guess what but he’s not in the mood for games. Ellie’s mom called because Ellie hasn’t been taking her calls. Her dad is back from Afghanistan and he’s in the hospital because he’s sick (he’s got PTSD). Ellie doesn’t want to deal with that right now and walks out.

The boys are about to go on their ‘guys’ trip however Peter apologizes cause Mia is now tagging along. So much for scratching and belching to their hearts content now eh. Manny then shows up telling Jay she’s coming with him….them. And the school bus makes the trek from Toronto to SoCal.

Hailey shows up at Paige’s glad she got an invite because these so called young women in Hollywood are so lame. Speaking of Lame…. Paige spent her time and money sending her friends to Cali and they just don’t understand her….this is totes a drag. Hailey tells her that’s why famous people stick together because they get one another. Meanwhile Marco tries to catch her to say something is wrong with Ellie but Paige so won’t hear of it. Marco doesn’t care telling Paige her dad’s sick but she’s being evasive. Paige promises she’ll talk to Ellie in the AM but this is her first red carpet and she wants to avoid it. So much for not being a self-absorbed Diva.

Ellie shows up at the club to see Craig sing. He asks where Marco and Paige are and she tells him they are buisy….um you never even told them about the gig red. Anyway she doesn’t lie…Paige did have stuff to do and she did have a fight with Marco so….there’s that. He asks her what she’s in the mood to do and she says relax which is hard to do at the mansion. He invites her to stay at his awesome beachfront condo since they are in a more mature place. Ellie goes back to the mansion and is packing. Marco asks if she came to her scenes and is going to see her dad. She says no just staying elsewhere….Craig’s. CRAIG’S are you fucking joking? No, I’m regular joking Marco…er um I’m being serious. Marco points out she’s just replacing one drama with another and he’s still not over the last go around. Ellie vows her crush is dead and gone she just wants a friend who won’t judge her. Marco tells her she’s going to regret not seeing her dad and Ellie tells him to enjoy his stay and leaves. She tells Paige where she’s going to be and she’s happy….see Ellie isn’t all depressed Marco and she may even have a hook up….Marco rolls his eyes as Ellie leaves and Paige and Hailey are showing him their haul. Hailey picks up car keys and trashes them…the economy model….eeew….but look out photos are all over Perez Hilton’s blog and he’s calling you the new celeb-u-slut which is a great thing though Marco doesn’t get it cause he’s not in the BIZ.

The bus trippers end up breaking down in the middle of nowhere. Mia says she thinks it’s a compression problem while Manny wants a silent place to focus on the song for the movie. She starts to sing and all eyes are on her….the boys comment she’s not going to sing it THAT way right.

Ellie’s at Craig’s playing with his guitar the following morning and he comments how he can’t believe her ex slept with Caitlin (see Season seven) . She tells him she should let him do his own thing however he’s got the whole day planned and for starters he wants to play a song for her that he wrote in Rehab  and as he’s singing ‘Rescue You’ we get a cute Crellie (Craig +Ellie) montage of them acting all flirty on the beach. She asks what happened with Ashley he says that they went to Europe to tour….she stayed he did not. Ellie comments if she could swim she’d go far out into the ocean and just let the waves take her back to shore to get away for a while. She tells him she loved his song and he tells her he wrote it for her.

The bus is back on track though they pull over for a pee break in the woods. Mia who is peeing out in the open like the dudes comments how Sav should be peeing downhill not up as Manny’s back on the bus steps looking over her script. Jay tells her she needs to breathe and to stop over thinking. Manny shakes her head saying Mick is right and she needs him and Jay takes her phone saying no, she doesn’t need him. They have a fight and she breaks down in his arms saying she is stupid and nothing and isn’t cut out to be an actor and Jay comments how he’s turned Manny into a shell of her amazing self. Sav then comes to the bus with Manny’s phone which he discovered in the woods and is unnaturally excited about.

Craig and Ellie come back to the apartment all giggly from their date when a woman comes out of the bathroom in a towel. Her name is Yvette and she’s Craig’s girlfriend who just came back from a modeling job in Maui.  She is glad that she’s meeting the famous Ellie that Craig talks about and invites her to stay for dinner. She goes to get dressed and Ellie tells Craig she seems nice.

Paige and Hailey are talking about throwing Paige a birthday party even though it’s not her Birthday. Hailey tells her how she has two or three parties a year and she’s forever nineteen according to IMDB. Paige asks if the party planning will cut into her lines and Hailey tells her the best stars improvise.

Craig, Ellie, and Yvette are having dinner. He met her when he was opening for Fall Out Boy. He pulled her onstage and they were together ever since. Ellie goes saying that Marco really needs her so she’s going back to Paige. Craig follows her out of the hall saying he should of told her about Yvette and she tells him that’s fine. She needs to stop thinking that her crush on him would just magically vanish  or be reciprocated. He tells her he did have a good time and she leaves telling Marco how Craig blindsided her and she’s going to just relax by the pool.

A hung-over Paige arrives on set and starts ad-libbing cause she KNOWS TRIXIE. Jason tells her no she doesn’t he was there he knows what she said and if she isn’t going to learn her lines she needs to go.

Manny is venting to Emma while Kelly is trying to suck her face. The bus then stops at some biker bar for a bite as Manny comments how she just wants to go home but its LA or bust. Jay goes to place an order as well as add Manny’s name to the open mic list where she sings against her will with Studz and Jay as back up and Mia bobbing along with the bikers is just so adorable….

Paige is having a party and Ellie is drinking as Marco comments how Paige is out of control. Speaking of Paige, Ellie’s mom is now calling her cell to get to Ellie. Ellie takes the phone and tells her of course she cares but the line breaks up. Jason shows up and Paige comments that she’s glad he came to his senses about kicking her off set. He calls her a Diva and tells her she’s fired and just came back to get Trixie’s tiara back. Ellie keeps drinking as Craig comes cause he needs to talk. He has a life in LA and it’s pretty perfect but then she shows up and his life is turned all around. Ellie comments that she’s a life ruiner and he’s better off without her. Craig chases after her however Marco stops him. He tells Craig Ellie has issues and doesn’t need him and soon the two boys fall into the pool fighting. Paige is miffed and Ellie heads to the beach where she starts walking the beach tear stricken and vodka bottle in hand. Dropping the bottle she starts walking into the water.

Danny comments how that was awesome and they didn’t know Jay could play drums however their celebration ends when they realize the bus is stolen.

Craig and Marco walk the beach looking for Ellie. They find her shawl and bottle and Craig sees her trying to drown herself….the boys go in to save her.

They can’t believe the bus is gone…. Mia had thousands of dollars of designer clothes, Sav had his stickers but more importantly as Danny points out their sleeping bags were in there. Mia has cash but not much. Manny’s cell rings and she gets the call Paige is out and she’s in but she needs to be in Hollywood NOW so she starts to hitchhike.

The producer tells Jason that he has to have Paige as the lead or they’ll find another director to take over Jason’s bio-pic.

Jay asks Manny how long she’ll stay mad at him and she says until they get to Hollywood cause he was stupid to leave the keys in the bus. They find the bus however stalled at the side of the road and the trip is a go.

Paige gives the producer a list of directors and he tells her no….Jason still is in and the firing was a bluff….but now he’s pissed cause of her and she’s got a Diva rep t boot which isn’t good for production. No one will work with her now….she has one more week with the house and then she’s done.

Ellie is crashed on the couch and Craig tells Marco he’ll watch her while he goes to get their things from Paige. Marco asks why LA makes people crazy and Craig says it’s not the town but the people themselves. Ellie wakes up telling Craig she’s sorry and he tells her to rest. She tells him she wasn’t really trying to kill herself and Craig knows. He tells her Marco told him about her dad and she knows…and she knows she needs to see him it’s just she just thought she could fix everything….with her mom….with him (Craig…) his dad watched people die and is suffering from PTSD and she knows she can’t fix that. Craig tells her to sleep and when she wakes up he’ll cook her an omelet.

Manny tells Emma the great news….the bus is found….Sav and Danny hiked to get gas and she’s got the part….though the GPS was stolen and they are lost and she hopes Emma can help them out.

Paige goes to confront Perez to print a retracting cause she’s not a Diva Jason is. He tells her she’s yesterday’s news and you’re only has hot as you’re latest scandal. He gives her an invite to a premiere and tells her to make something of it because it’s her last shot.

Manny has directions but Jay tells her it’s too late. The fan belt broke and there is no way to replace it in the middle of nowhere….he’s failed her…..but not so fast. Mia is able to patch it up with a pair of leggings….an old trick her mom taught her cause the family car was always breaking down. Manny’s going to LA and asks Jay if he’s coming with.

Hailey and Paige are thinking over something scandalous for Paige to do….it’s too late to fake a baby bump or to leak a sex tape….but a commando shot is the key. Paige tells Marco he should do something with his life instead of continuing to lomb on to everyone else and he calls her an insecure girl. She slaps him and he goes.

The Bus is in LA and Manny calls Jason who breaks the news that the film is off. They pass a premiere and the boys want to watch the red carpet and star gaze. Manny tells Jay to stop the bus.

Hailey tells Paige this is her last A list invite so make it count. The Limo door opens and Paige spots Manny, her foot gets caught in the carpet and she trips breaking her leg. Hailey just struts by like nothing’s wrong as Manny goes to help her out.

The boys and Mia are splashing in Paige’s pool basking in the LA glow. Paige is glad that some ones having fun and at least Manny has friends. Fame is so not what it’s cracked up to be. Manny doesn’t know what to do with herself now and Paige doesn’t either….Paige however has an idea and asks how fast Jay can drive.

Ellie’s at the airport with Craig because she’s going home to see her dad. She starts walking toward security and he starts to leave when they both turn around and have an epic kiss. She tells them they’ll always have LA and he tells her someday maybe. They kiss again and she goes home.

The producer pleas with Jason. He needs him….and he’s got a new star…. Hailey she is tone-deaf but they can dub and…. Paige interrupts saying to go to the window ASAP. Jason goes and smiles as he watches Manny and Studz singing. Jason tells the producer he’s in but only if Manny is Trixie. She smiles saying she got it and he tells her she IS her.

Emma and Kelly go to the Dot to order celebratory cocoas. Holly J snarkily comments if they are celebrating the fact that they stopped making out long enough to ice skate and Emma says no, it’s Manny’s first day on set and the Studz are back in the movie. Alli is beaming because her brother is going to be famous. Spinner comments how he used to date her too…he just hopes Paige is okay.

She’s okay working as an assistant for Jason on the movie a huge smile on her face as the movie is being filmed.

Ellie shows up to the hospital to have a tearful reunion with her dad as Marco is watching on. Paige is calling him however he ignores her call.

Jay tells Manny goodbye and that he loves her. She knows. He gives her a kiss and tells her how proud he is of her. She tells him to wait and that she’ll be home before he knows it. He tells her he’ll be waiting for her and they have another moment before the other boys and Mia show up to send him off with the school bus. This movie was just beautifully done and I’d totally recommend it to someone who has never seen the series as unlike Takes Manhattan while there are allot of continuity nods from the series this works as a brilliant standalone piece.
