While initially packaged in the states an
hour long special event called Love Games (not to be confused with the later
episode titled Love Game) and marketed as a Valentine’s Day special much like
season eights Lost In Love I’ll be recapping these as two solo episodes….though
you’ll be surprised that there is enough plot continuity that’s going to make
you way why didn’t they make this a 2 part
Holly J is passing out adds for a matchmaker
service with all proceeds going into financing the school play which is apparently
a full on production and not just a workshop like it made you seem it was going
to be. Declan comments to Holly J how he booked the music atrium after school
on Friday and she politely informs him
she’s changed his time to lunch since she gets final say with bookings being
the president and all. Declan teases asking if this is a dictator ship and
Holly J says if you come after school you’ll be double booked with the steel
drum band. Holly J walks away and Declan smarmily comments that she’s a girl
worth fighting for. Sav casually approaches asking if Declan has health insurance.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Sav and Anya are filling out one of the
dating profile sheets as they sit at a picnic table with Danny, Leia and Chantey.
Chantey asks them why they are filling profiles out when they are already a
couple. Anya comments to see if they are destined to be together. Leia comments
that Danny is just filling out C’s and he comments how he’s got a real test to
study for, the Latin AP. As he’s talking Chantey comments she needs to study
too while Leia is commenting asking who cares about dead languages….
Holly J is making an announcement about the
dates to be reviled Friday, she also brings up the babysitting service and how
they are having a special ‘date night’ day or rather night care service for
Friday Night.. As she’s on the video PA, Declan sticks a rose on her locker and
invites her to see an indie band who just appeared on SNL and is about to go on
world tour. Holly J comments she hates that band and besides she’s committed to
sitting and what’s more she’s not Declan’s type. He asks if it’s a challenge
but Holly J says it’s an observation. He should stick with Trisha (the cheerleader
who recruited Jenna to the squad last episode) cause she’s a house plant and
Holly J is too high maintenance to handle.
Leia is talking in the ladies to Chantey
about how she likes Danny but it seems now more than before that they share
little to nothing in common with one another. Chantey comments that she was
just reading in sizzle teen ten ways to reignite a spark. Number three is to
break up with him to let him see what he’s missing so he’s back hotter than
ever. Chantey however as you’ll soon find out has an ulterior motive of
snagging Danny for herself.
Declan throws Fiona a 9-1-1 text and asks her
to get the details on Holly J. Fiona rolls her eyes wanting to know why he’s
interested in the dragon lady of Degrassi. (Oh how feelings change though Fi).
He’s been stalking her on Facebook and twitter (again using real names for
social media instead of made up ones and this is I think even before they had
character twitters which would have been fun. Declan reveals Holly J is a
yellow belt in tae kwon do (and now I really want to read/write a fic with
Junior Holly J and Sophomore Katie in class together) and Fiona just sighs
saying that this won’t end well and reminding Declan about some ex named
Sophie. He was in a mood for six months after her and Fiona is sick of
Coldplay.
Leia tells Danny that they are better off as
friends and walks off. Chantey asks how it went and she comments so far so good….she
just hopes that this works and Danny comes back and they are stronger than
ever.
Simpson is doing a media class outside where
he’s talking about niche marketing where as a company asks a string of simple
questions to single consumers out and target a demo since it’s matchmaker week
and all. He asks a series of questions and soon Sav steps up to the head of the
group. He then asks Declan to ask questions and he ends up singling out Holly
J. After his display he invites Holly J to lunch with him in the café. She’s
impressed he did all that research and he teases about his government contacts….and
his sister’s top secret snooping. Holly J wants to know more about him. He’s
boring really, just you’re average nomadic childhood across four continents. He
lived in Thailand and met the Dali Lama when he was eight. Trish arrives asking
if they are still on for the night before turning toward Holly J asking if he
was telling her about the Dali Lama and how next he’ll be telling her about the
Elephant he road as a kid. Holly J thought he was flirting but complains about
how he’s reading from a script. Declan then gets up but ends up spilling his
tray on himself. A change of clothes later he’s back in his next class as Sav
and Anya are talking about what to do for their anniversary. Anya takes a seat
and then Sav asks Declan about his progress getting the girl. Sav says talk to
her but she just wants to ignore him.
Dave tells Chantey she’s not the only gossip
monger. He knows that Chantey has a thing for Danny and bedazzled Danny’s
initials on her bag in grade six. She tells him that she did tell them to break
up for personal gain and Danny tells her she needs to come clean. She plans to
however Danny soon invites her to go to the Dot with her Friday night for
dinner and a study sesh.
Chantey hands out a paper with their names
and a list of their perfect matches. They are to stick their name sticker on
their best ones. Anya and Sav got one another (typical) Jane didn’t fill one
out and Holly J got Declan though she didn’t want to. Declan walks by with a
dozen other girls stickers already affixed to him. Jane comments that he can’t
help it if he’s popular and after lunch Holly J lets a sticker free Declan into
the music room where he’s working on mixing some of the songs for the show. He
wants to talk but she is just there to unlock doors. He tells her there is food
in the room and she goes to clean it and he locks her in the sound booth so he
can talk. He admits that the one time he got emotionally involved before he got
his heart ripped out and he’s scared about it happening again but he really
wants to try with her. A girl soon shows up to record and Declan lets Holly J
out. She tells him she’s listened before she walks off a grin on her face.
Chantey is practicing Latin conjugation in
the ladies while doing her make up when Leia storms in. This isn’t working,
Danny looks happier now than when they were together. She comments how it was Chantey’s
idea and she didn’t know what she had till he was gone. Chantey says that she’ll
talk to Danny and has Leia come by the Dot.
Declan wants Sav’s advice….he wants a gran
romantic gesture keep in mind he’s got a helicopter. Anya comments how it’s the
little things that matter hint hint. She walks off and Declan casually asks Sav
what the one year surprise he got Anya is. Sav tells him a scrapbook of them
being together and Declan rolls his eyes at it and gives Sav the tickets and
backstage passes to the concert to take Anya to cause he has a more important
engagement.
Jane is doing pro-bono work at the Dot to be
with Spinner delivering coffees to a studying Danny and Chantey. Danny asks why
Leia is there and Chantey tells him that he needs to get back with Leia. But
Danny points out…she dumped him. Chantey then lets him know she told her to do
so because she read in Sizzle Teen to do it. Danny goes out to talk to Leia and
Chantey is crushed.
Holly J is facilitating Clare and I’m sure
some of the other niners at the daycare. Declan shows up and Holly J asks why
he’s not at the concert and he tells her that he’d rather spend time with her.
He’s made Goose and soon he’s playing with all the little kids.
Danny comes back into the Dot and he tells Chantey
that they didn’t get back together because it really wasn’t working between
them. Chantey asks if this was more than a study date and Danny winks….he asks what
the protocol between girlfriends is and they decide to wait two months.
Declan and Holly J are talking about the
little kids as they walk past a Pizza Place. Best Mushroom Slices in town. Holly
J smiles telling him it’s a good first date. His cell buzzes with a text from
Trisha that he ignores and goes in for the kiss with Holly J instead.
