8x07 Money For Nothing recap

Holly J has big news however first Chantey points out they have an audience. Holly J goes to tell Blue it’s a closed practice though he wants to know if she’ll go see Pink Floyd with him. Seriously what teenager even four or five years ago listens to Pink Floyd? He tells her the cost of the tickets and she tells them it better be good or a second date is out of the question. Holly J’s announcement is that they made it to a major completion in Florida that’s $350. This is a huge achievement since last time the squad tried to compete well World War 3 nearly broke out.

Holly J comes home and her mom tells her she has bad news. Her dad made some bad investments and they are going to have to make changes. Her mom cuts up Holly J’s credit card and she flips.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

The following day, Holly J’s mom is dropping her off at school and asks if it’s possible she can look for financial aid to fund the cheer competition. She then says it’s so bad that even she needs a job which is like blasphemous since she’s been holly housewife this whole time. She then tells Holly J the concert is also out and to make matters worse not only does she hand her a bagged lunch but Mrs. Sinclair says that the car is being repossessed so Holly J needs to take the bus. Chantey hears the last part and questions why her friend would take public transit. Holly J says she’s going green to save face.

An Entertainment News show is doing a piece on Mia and is following her to the school.

In art class Chantey comments how much Giselle makes and wonders how much Mia makes. Blue shows up with the tickets he waited hours for and Holly J tells him he can’t go. He says if you don’t want to date me just say it. She says it though the reason she can’t is cause she can’t afford it. She then spends lunch eating her sandwich in the girl’s room. Leia sees her eating and asks if she has a disorder but she just wants to be alone.

Peter and Mia are making out and dancing in his apartment when Miss. H drops by for a surprise visit.

Holly J notices a help wanted sign outside the Dot and goes to Spinner to apply. He thinks it’s a joke but she tells him she needs a job to look good on her university transcript. He tells her that she’s hired.

At Peter’s place Studz are practicing and are singing a song about partying and sex while Miss H is awkwardly looking on and doing dishes. The boys are iffy on singing in front of the ex-principal. She tells them to go to home because it’s late.

Holly J’s first day at work and she’s cracking under the pressure. The girls are showing them their new bathing suites they got from Mia/s designer friends but she needs to get back to work. Derek complains to her and so she dumps his shake over his head in frustration. Spinner comps their food and then tells Holly J to hold back her aggression and learn the customer is always right….then she quits.

Peter sneaks in cause he didn’t want to wake Miss H. She’s awake and wants Peter to move to Ragina with her at mid-term break. He doesn’t want to cause he likes his independence.

Mia’s being interviewed and Anya is fangirling asking if Holly J’s been interviewed. Holly J tells Anya she can’t come to Florida cause of a family thing. Anya and Chantey then declare Mia will be their interim captain.

Holly J apologizes to Leia for being mad and says that she’s sick about Mia. Leia is stick of her too and tells Holly J what she did to be a star makes her sick.

Alli is getting Mia’s autograph and soon Holly J goes to the table. Chantey and Anya tell her Mia agreed to be interim captain and comment on Holly J’s bagged lunch. Holly J goes outside and gives a statement against her on TV.

The news report airs and Holly J has a guilty look in her eyes while Mia breaks down at the report. She admits to Peter that part of it is true and she did some regrettable things for the job. Peter tells her it’s okay and he still loves her.

Holly J’s mom walks into where Holly J was watching the news with news of her own. Heather sent a check so that Holly J could go to the cheer comp.

Miss H comments how well he handled Mia with what he said and how she misses him when she’s gone and is so proud of how he’s been doing.

Bruce as well as other students start to sexually harass Mia about what was said on the news.

Holly J shows up at practice telling them she’s coming to the competition and her family thing can wait. Chantey, Anya and Mia tell her that what she said was unsportsmanlike and they vote her off the squad. She walks outside in tears and tells Blue she is going to be free after all. He tells her that she’s the kind of girl that gets everything and he’s not interested in that.

Peter attempts to cook for his mom and apologizes for not asking about how she and the grandma are doing. Miss H says she came to visit not to spy and they make an arrangement to see one another more often.

Holly J asks Spinner for his job back because she needs the money and admits that her parents are broke…and she got kicked off the squad for ratting out Mia to the media. Spinner tells her she gets it and brings up him stealing and attempting to sell Jimmy’s MP3 player from way back in season two. He asks if she has both parents….his dad died….he asks if she has ball cancer….obviously she doesn’t but he did and if he can get through all that she can get through being broke. Holly J then goes over toward Alli and Conner’s table and serves them.
