6x01/02 Here Comes Your Man||--recap

New Season, New Format, New Opening Theme….I know it’s the season thirteen tagline but it’s a whole new Degrassi….

Peter and Emma are at the country club after spending the day with Peter’s dad. The valet pulls up with a car that isn’t the one they came in and Mr. Stone tells Peter it’s an early Birthday gift as while its two days away he wants him to have the car for the first day of school. Peter and Emma goes for a joyride in a scene similar to that of the one Spinner and Paige did in season four complete I believe with the same audio backtrack. After the ride, Peter is telling Emma just how lucky he is when Emma hears her name being called. Sean’s back and he’s with Jay….don’t get your mind in the gutter he’s just couch surfing they are not an item. Emma smiles and introduces her new boyfriend Peter to her ex Sean.

WHATEVER IT TAKES (I’m still going to mark the opening with the theme lyrics however this season and next it’s a whole new opening. It’s an instrumental theme with a white background with reals of the characters in past scenes in a blue filter. In the foreground the actor in character is looking to the camera. It has a rather soap opera feel but it was a refreshing change and would of much rather seen the season 13 theme go this route instead of the hot mess that it is. Added to the opening theme is ‘Darcy’ as well as ‘Sean’ who is back for the season while ‘Hazel’ ‘Joey’ ‘Caitlin’ and ‘Craig’ are gone.  Also removed although still on cannon just demoted to recurring is ‘Toby’. ‘Ashley’ is also recurring despite being back.)

It’s the first day at Degrassi and Toby, Liberty, and JT can’t believe they are finally seniors. Jimmy and Spinner are watching the trio and comment about how they can’t believe they are their new classmates. Spinner jokes its good that they are cause with Marco gone he needs someone else to cheat off of. They are laughing about this when Ashley arrives to round out the trio of second year seniors….well second year seniors and Spinner since he was a second year Junior the year before and this is his first go at grade twelve. Darcy arrives a bit later and after spending the summer at bible camp clearing her head she’s ready for another go with Spinner.

Peter shows up in his new car trying to sound all gangsters. Manny comments about going to visit Sean and his biceps and Peter is a smidge jealous. Emma tells Peter that Sean is dumb and that he is the whole package brains and brawn (ha ha ha ha ha) Emma gives him a knit beanie as she’s been knitting as a form of therapy to cope with her disorder as mentioned in this episode.

Emma is signing up for social committee instead of some environmental club and Manny is surprised. Emma explains that Peter has no friends and she wants to change it. Manny nods before making another comment about Sean’s arms which are total fan service this episode to begin with and Emma asks if she should tell Craig she’s lusting over someone else. Manny tells her she can tell Craig if she can ever get a hold of him on the phone.

Marco is looking at a class catalogue reading off potential classes to Ellie as Dylan is setting up their new apartment/rental home and Paige is informing everyone she’s moving to Kingston in a matter of days and wants a party. He’s torn between who he should give his attention to and it’s frustrating.

Manny tells Sean that Emma is in a good place and to not move in on her. Sean nods and soon approaches Peter asking if he wants help working on his car. Sean then invites the group to go watch illegal street racing with him and it’s an offer Peter can’t refuse. Jay asks why a prep like Peter is there and Sean tells them that he’s helping Peter with his car. Alex comments about keeping your friends close and enemies closer.

Marco and Ellie are still looking over classes but Paige wants to spend the time planning her last hurrah as she doesn’t know when everyone will have the chance to be together once school starts up again.

Sean and Jay are talking about cars when Sean excuses himself to go toward Emma. He makes a comment about her knitting then tells her why he went back to Degrassi. He wants to graduate and open up a car shop and Degrassi is a much better school then the one he was attending in Wasaga. His eyes silently add that he’s also come back for Emma and the next day in school the tension is so think it can be cut with a knife.

Dylan is interviewing potential roommates as Marco is telling him how busy he is between Ellie and class schedules, Paige’s party later that day and moving in the next day.

Manny tells Emma that she and Sean talked about her and is curious if more is going on. Emma denies it.

It’s Peter’s Birthday now and he wants to go to the races however Emma wants to have a nice quiet dinner with no talk of cars. Peter doesn’t get the memo and the whole dinner conversation is cars this and Sean that leading Emma to crack and head to the races where Sean and Jay are.

At Paige’s party, Darcy approaches her telling her she’s glad the older girl is leaving even calling her a HO. Paige however is over the drama of High School and is ready to move on. Marco’s dad crashes the party moving things in as it’s the only time he can get the truck and he ends up throwing his back out.

At the race Emma thanks Sean for being nice to Peter and confides in him about the condition she had the year before. Peter is then excited cause he and Jay are going to race. The cops end up showing up and soon everyone scatters…no arrests are made.

Marco tells Paige she’s sorry the party was ruined and Paige tells him not to stress. He tells her it’s hard because between her moving, Craig in Vancouver, Ellie going to the Residence Halls, and Spinner and Jimmy still at Degrassi he’s alone.

Sean apologizes to Emma for the cops telling her he’s bad news. Then they make out…..to be continued

Part two opens after the kiss. Emma tells him it’s a one off and can’t happen again as she heads inside to see Peter waiting for her glad that she got away from the cops and how Sean got her home safe and sound.

I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH

Peter shows up the following day dressed in a wifebeater and jeans like Sean wanting to head to the races again after school this time without Emma.

Manny wants to know what happened the other day with Sean and Emma swears up and down that it’s nothing that she’s with Peter. Manny walks off and seconds later Sean approaches pulling her into a vacant class room and  gives her a pair of expensive looking earrings however Emma can’t accept them.

Ellie ends up getting a room in the residence hall lottery however her celebration is cut short when she meets her roommate. The girl is a girly girl with her side of the room all pink and vintage looking and she instantly pulls out a scrapbook that she plans to record all the memories she knows she and new best friend Ellie will make together.

Emma admits to Manny that perhaps there IS something with her and Sean and Manny shakes her head. Manny admits to not liking Peter but says he was there for Emma last year and he’s good for her because of it.

Ellie is talking about how gross the bathroom and café food is and her roommate suggests she write an article being journalism major. Ellie then notices that her roommate took down her wall hanging and put her cloths away while she was gone.

Sean baled on his plans with Peter and so Peter asks Emma to hang instead. Emma wants to be alone and it’s not cause she’s relapsing….she just…well…wants to take a break. Pete accuses her dumping him for her ex.

Ellie goes to the CORE office and meets the editor Jessie. She wrote an article like her roommate suggested however due to the nature of it she asks that if printed she wants to be anonymous.

Miss H calls Sean to her office as she got a tip about drugs being in his locker. Upon opening it up she discovers a bag of pot and Sean is suspended indefinitely. He accuses Peter of planting it however Emma says that perhaps Sean was dealing since how else could he of afforded the earrings.

Jessie shows Ellie the paper the next day and the article is there….and Ellie’s name is the byline. To apologize for not making it anonymous he gives Ellie a real assignment.

Peter tells Emma he’s sorry that Sean was busted and will put a good word in about his new friend with his mom.

Sean tells Jay he wants to head back to Wasaga however Jay tells him he should race one more time with Peter before he goes.

Ellie goes to the dorms only to find her roommate has kicked her out for the article.

At the race Peter all but confesses to Sean he did indeed plant the drugs in the locker. They race however Sean ends up hitting a jogger. As he’s calling 9-1-1 Jay arrives on the scene and tells Sean they need to go because Sean is eighteen and will get hard time.

Ellie ends up moving in with Marco and Dylan since she has nowhere else to go.

Simpson informs Emma that Peter was let out of jail on bail and that the jogger is stable…Sean is MIA….or maybe not so much as Emma finds him in her room. She tells him he needs to turn himself in and he does.
