This episode is a perfect continuation to the events of the
last and opens up the following Monday. The media is still having a field day
with the shooting and I’m honestly shocked there wasn’t a circus like this from
the fallout of other major dramatic events that have occurred in the
series. Sean and Ellie are looking at
all the papers talking about the shooting and branding Sean a hero for
preventing Rick for continuing his rampage.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Various classes are having support groups where the students
are talking about the fallout of the shooting and all the stages of grief they
are feeling although only Rick died and really no one cared about him which is
why he went rogue in the first place wasn’t it. It’s implied that Jimmy is
stable but may not be able to walk and Sean well….he just wants things to go
back to normal without this circus. Emma is also suffering from the stress
barging into Simpson’s room in tears and embracing Sean in a hug.
Alex and Jay are talking about all the support groups and
she tells Jay that he may not want to talk about what happened but she does and
he warns her not to tell her too much.
A reporter is doing a piece on Sean and shows him a video of
Sean’s parents saying how much they miss him. Emma asks Jay where Sean is just
in time to see him smashing the ladies monitor to the ground. After doing this
Sean, Emma, Ellie, and Jay hop into Jay’s civic and head to Wasaga Beach to see
Sean’s parents.
Toby wants to hang out with JT and Danny however they push
him away due to his prior association with Rick.
The group arrives in Wasaga and they head to Sean’s parents’
house. Sean tells his mom to quit acting like she cares about him to the cameras
before heading toward the beach. The boys are burying the girls in the sand
when they spot a guy riding onto the shore on a sea doo. The guy is Tyler the
guy Sean had deafened in one ear before being sent to Toronto.
Toby and Manny are looking at the cards and flowers still on
display in support of Jimmy and Manny comments about how she didn’t know how
popular he was. Toby lists some names including Heather’s (#13) and says they
aren’t his friend’s just classmates. He tells Manny that Rick’s service is that
night and he doesn’t want to go alone.
Jay goes up to ask Tyler how much a sea doo is to rent
making fun of his being deaf when Sean approaches and the two go back and forth
verbally. After the fight Ellie and Sean walk back toward the beach and she
laughs sarcastically remarking ‘that was fun’ before commenting on how the two
stories sounded different. Sean breaks
down saying how when the gun went off he felt a warm liquid all over his body,
he thought it was piss but it was Rick’s blood. He then rides out angrily on a
sea doo and flips leading Tyler to jump in and save him.
Manny asks JT how he is and tells him that Toby needs him
and if JT didn’t ditch Toby for Danny then he wouldn’t have gotten involved
with Rick in the first place. JT makes a remark and Manny counters saying she
remembers why she dumped him….he couldn’t be the bigger man.
Emma suggests Sean see a doctor however he’s fine. He apologizes
about last year….for everything and soon goes back home. His dad comments
asking how long till the cops arrive…..it’s been four years what else was he to
think aside from Sean being in trouble. His mom says he was sent to Toronto out
of love because he deserved a better life. Sean breaks down in tears telling
them he might have been the one to kill Rick.
Manny goes to Rick’s service with Toby. Rick’s mom tells
Toby he was a good friend to her son and JT ends up being the bigger man
showing up.
Sean tells Ellie that he’s staying in Wasaga to deal with
things and this is the last time we see Sean until season six.
