Watching an early JT centric episode like that despite
how non dramatic it was got me rather emotional all things considered and I don’t
know what kind of state I’ll be in when….well if you’re a reader who’s seen the
series you know if not to quite River Song ‘Spoilers’ not like I haven’t
mentioned them before now but anyway….The episode opens with JT in Miss H’s
class goofing off and ends up getting detention with her.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
JT arrives the following morning for Miss H’s
detention. She’s talking to him about the class guinea pigs and how JT needs to
feed and clean their cages. She comments how well he is doing this and that he
should consider being a Vet one day. It’s also important to note that one of
the guinea pigs the one that plays the biggest part in a later act of the
episode is named Isabella. I know that doesn’t sound too important now and most
likely was a coincidence however JT’s girlfriend in later seasons has a
daughter by that name.
In Simpson’s class later that day Sean and Toby are
asking JT about his time alone with ‘Miss Hot Sauce’ and JT tells of his
effortless flirtation of dropping his pen in hopes she’d bend down to pick it
up.
Spinner and some of the grade nines are in Math class
and it’s apparent he’s got bad BO. Ellie approaches saying he needs to take
daily showers while he asks Jimmy if he really smells and why his best friend
didn’t tell him and so they make a pact to be honest.
The girls and Toby are teasing JT about Miss H and
Manny brings up that the youngest a woman should date is half her age plus
seven. Miss H is apparently 30 and so the youngest she should date is 22 which clearly JT is not. Also if she’s 30
and has a kid who would be in grade seven at this time I guess she had him in
High School unless things were retconned because lord knows Degrassi likes it’s
ret cons as we shall see in later seasons.
Ashley is reading a rather depressing poem which Jimmy
rips apart due to the honesty pact.
Miss H informs JT that Isabella is pregnant and not
overweight like at first they thought and this prompts JT to go research guinea
pig pregnancy in the MI lab to which Emma walks in on.
Later in Miss H’s class she gets called out to talk to
Armstrong and they joke that he’s her boyfriend. But…he’s married one of the
student’s replies….but she’s not…but Armstrong isn’t the type of guy to do
that. I was amused at this little exchange as in season five Miss H does get
involved with a very married teacher and drama ensues. In her absence JT goofs
off and impersonates Miss H who is not impressed.
Despite calling her a slut in Karma Chameleon and
dissing her new look a few times Jimmy is excited because he and Ashley are
close to getting back together. I guess working on that project last episode
helped huh. Ashley approaches saying she loved his criticism and re worked her
poem or short story as it appears to be what she’d been reading aloud earlier.
When she leaves Spinner still being honest says a Jimmy/Ashley reunion is stupid
because she has him whipped.
JT apologizes for being a cut up and Miss H says how
she is upset that he’s wasting his potential by being class clown. JT offers to
transfer out.
Jimmy is making an honesty list to give to Spinner.
Terri arrives and says the list is harsh and Jimmy calls her nosy.
JT goes to Miss H’s room and sees Isabella out of her
cage. They chase her around the room before she crawls into a vent. JT comments
she’s probably looking for a dark safe place to give birth as he read that in
his research. Miss H says the vents are not safe cause the custodian sprayed
Rat Poison and so they lore her back out even if it takes all night. Isabella
ends up getting back into the cage and gives birth.
Jimmy and Spinner decide to drop their pact but not
before calling one another out on faults. They see Kwan with blue ink all over
her lips and chuckle saying nothing about it.
JT admits he was never really going to transfer and
Toby and Sean ask about the night JT spent with Miss H. JT explains they spent
the time watching the guinea pig give birth.
