The episode picks up outside the funeral home after Adam’s
service. Eli comments at the turnout and Dallas comments how everyone loved
him. Bianca snaps how this is utter BS and the doctors should of saved him
while Becky comments how Jesus just wanted him close….if Bianca and Eli’s looks
could kill in the moment. They walk away and Dallas offers to take her to the
post funeral reception she shakes her head and apologizes for saying that to
Bianca. Drew then tells Becky that it’s her fault that Adam is dead cause he
took the van to get reception and died texting her. Dallas says Drew’s just a
mess but Becky is crying saying she doesn’t think she’s welcome anymore.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Jenna comments how she hates funerals and she misses Paris.
As she they are walking Alli gets a text from Leo and ignores it as they
approach a crying Becky asking why she’s not at the reception since she’s his
girlfriend. She tells the others that she and Adam had a fight and she said they
needed space. Jenna says how if she believes Adam is in heaven she can talk to
him whenever she wants and apologize. Becky then gets an idea asking if anyone
knows how to build a bonfire.
In her hospital room, Clare writes on an RIP Adam facerange
page as Eli walks into the room. Clare asks how to say goodbye to someone who
changed her life and asks how the funeral was and if Drew cried. Eli said Drew
was quiet but the whole thing didn’t feel like Adam at all. Eli comments about
the memorial video they are making which will show everyone how great he was.
Drew is moping playing video games as Bianca brings him
food. Dave in his one appearance this season and Imogen show up, Imogen tries
to lighten things up in her own Imogen way saying it looks like someone robbed
a flower shoppe while Dave asks how everyone’s summer was however Drew’s not
one for chit chat and walks upstairs. Dallas follows suggesting they go to the
bars or something but Drew wants to be alone.
Clare and Eli are editing their video when Audra comes to
deliver Clare good news….she’s officially in remission and can go home that
night. Eli tells Clare people would love to see her and hear some happy news as
they begin to pack up.
Bianca wants Drew to talk to her. She’ll do anything. Drew
says he wants his brother back and it was his fault not Becky’s. he was the
last person Adam talked to and if he said things different maybe Adam would be
there. Bianca tells him about the bonfire and that he should go and Drew says
going won’t bring Adam back.
Becky, Alli, Conner, and Jenna are setting up for the
bonfire as Becky places a chair for Adam. She thinks perhaps it was a stupid
idea. What if nobody comes cause Adam’s friends don’t like her and Drew hates
her too. She wants things to be perfect for Adam.
Eli shows up at the hospital asking why Clare isn’t getting
ready. Clare is worried she shouldn’t go cause her immunity is still weak. Eli
says he’ll be her hug proxy and that she wants to honor Adam doesn’t she. Clare
tells Eli that Adam got her through her cancer and that she doesn’t want people
to judge her cause she got to live and he died. Eli says Adam wouldn’t want her
to be sad or guilty.
Becky thinks the party is a bust and is about to pack it in
when Alli tells her to look and soon everyone from school ends up showing up.
Imogen tells Becky it’s going to be a packed house…er…field as everyone gathers
around to talk celebrate Adam’s life. Again it’s a moment where there is no
dialogue needed.
Eli and Clare arrive and Eli says it reminds him of the
party Adam threw for Fiona at the old church and how it was that night the two
of them finally sparked. Eli says Adam taught him the power of twinkle lights.
Everyone sees Clare and wants to hug her but Eli intervenes. Conner asks why
she’s out of the hospital and she shares her news. Now she just needs to make
the most of her life.
While the party is going on a grieving Drew is ambling in
tears around town ignoring his friend’s texts and looking over the memorial
page stopping when he sees the video Clare posted.
For the most part it’s all music and if I didn’t delete
Shazam I’d tell you the song. It flashes from Drew to the bonfire and it’s just
emotionally raw despite it not being a ‘Quarterback’ situation and Jordy still
being very much alive.
Drew finally shows up to the bonfire and Dallas embraces him. Drew asks how do we
move on and Dallas says we find a way to say goodbye. I just love this bromance
and I’m sure I’ve said and will say it allot.
Jenna sings as Drew looks at the memorial saying Adam did a
stupid thing but when he’s passionate about something he goes after it which is
why everyone is here to say goodbye. Drew won’t cause he’ll always be there in
his memory. Dallas teases unless Drew gets concussed again as he lets out a
little laugh. Drew then tells Becky thanks for throwing the party Adam would of
loved it and that he’s sorry for yelling at her. Drew asks how do they move on
and Becky says they should make Adam’s death mean something.
